I keep having lots of trouble logging in the chatroom as recent as a couple of minutes ago, its getting to the stage where I'm starting to question my membership.
what's the point of being here if One can't chat to their friends?

Cheri Donna DawsonFeb 24, 2010Over max sessions, connection failed, please try later! - is what I get and I've not tried to enter Chat at all for several days.
ReactReply - MEMemberFeb 24, 2010There is one MAJOR pro to the new chat room, no more pop-ups and no more viruses. There are a few minor pro's - It's much easier to whisper and you can now easily delegate a comment/response/remark to a particular person. The following are my personal cons: I can't stand the pm's. I find them annoying and obtrusive. I'm not there to talk to ONE person, I'm there to talk to many. If I only wanted to talk to one person I'd be on yahoo or skype. If there is something I wish to say to someone privately, I'll "whisper" it to them. Even when you've disabled them, an interruptive box will pop up asking you to accept or decline a message sent from someone. Also, when you disable them no notification is received by the person trying to pm you that you are NOT accepting pm's. I miss seeing the thumbnail of each person, It's much easier for me to associate a name to a face or a picture. While one can still go to the profile to see who one is talking to, you have to "leave" the room to do so. I feel like I spend more time denying pms and looking at profiles than I do actually conversing with anyone. If you are viewing ones cam, the only place to "park" the image is in the chat box...this blocks conversation. I miss having a "docking" area for cams. I miss being able to easily see who is viewing my cam. When I do cam, it's so that I can share facial expressions with those who are actually chatting with me, not the ones who are not saying anything to anybody...just staring at cams. In the old room it was just a quick glance at the room list to see who was viewing you. Now it's a hidden drop down on your cam pic, which constantly needs monitoring. The room entrance/exit announcements are in a larger and bolder font than the actual conversation. This is distracting to the room conversation. And when there are a lot of people entering and exiting at the same time, it can bring a lively conversation to a dead halt. I feel like I spend half my time scrolling back through those announcements to find something I've missed that was directed to me and the person who directed it to me is left feeling ignored because I didn't see it to respond to. My personal opinion is that the new chat room has too many useless and distracting bells and whistles and very little substance left to it. LOL, other than that...it's okay by me

I had trouble getting in today, but normally it's not a problem. Once I'm in I wish I could make the chat font bigger (aging eyes). Otherwise it's just about the same as always. Good luck!

Naked-HoustonFeb 24, 2010The last few times I've been in, I've ended up just having private conversations with people I know, because it's easier than keeping up with what is going on in the chat room. Yahoo would be easier, but I keep thinking it will be different....what was that definition of insanity?

catbirdFeb 24, 2010Jen really scored on what she says about the new chat room. I especially miss the thumbnail pictures beside each name. When a lot of people are coming or going, it does tend to bring the conversation to a halt.

Right on the money. The in and out announcements are driving me crazy. Also, I have to agree with the post that it is easier to have a private conversation then try to follow the scroll. I understand your pain, Jen because I have found it easier to pm you then try to even do a personal message to you.ReactReply - TH
ThomasFeb 24, 2010Jen, I agree with what you said and would like to add one other thing. In the old chat the room list was in order of when someone came in unless you selected to show alphabeticially. I liked having the most recent people coming in at top of list so it is easier to see who just came in, especially when there is a lot of coming and going.

Just wanted to say that I was in chat earlier this evening and had a great time! I haven't been there for any extended length of time lately because the pm's annoyed me so much. First thing I did was disable the PM's. When you do this you'll still get a box everytime someone pm's you asking if you want to accept pm's. Well duh...there's a box on that pop that you can check to not see that message anymore. PM problem solved.
Really great group of people, good laughs, fun conversation. Had everyone on cam wearing hats. Sounds silly, I know, but it broke the ice and gave people something to talk about. Got a lot of the quieter, shyer, newbies to join in. Now it's hours later. Steve's in chat right now. Haven't heard him laugh so much in a long time. Thanks all to a fun time, the laughs and good conversation. Whene the chat room works it works REALLY well.

JoesPlaytimeOriginal PosterFeb 28, 2010today...1/03/2010, i again tried to get into the chat room and again i'm told its maxed out.....this is so fruastrating !!! it may be time to look for another site.
ReactReply - MEMemberMar 1, 2010
My understanding is that there is a max of 50 people in the chatroom at one time. When we've run into the "max session" message, we'v efound that if you don't hit retry - go to anoter section of the site (check out what's goin gon in your groups or on the forum) give it a minute or two and try to log in again, there is no problem getting in. Hitting retry over and over again is useless.
