I originally joined this site in the hope of finding someone reasonably local to share my interest in nudism with as I feel it would add another dimension for me.Unfortunately I am not over keen on meeting single men as I am a straight guy and they always seem to start to turn it sexual and as a single guy (I am in a relationship but she would not be involved in any meet), couples and single women don't exactly seem to be throwing invites at me.So I have started to ponder what others get from social nudity? I would be very interested to hear all of your thoughts 😃

Being a social naturist is exactly the same as being a social textile (apart from the clothes) we do it to be social and to make friends.

Do women and couple in your textile life throw invites out to you?

Why would you expect them to do it as a naturist?

Socially, in a naturist environment act just like you would in a textile one. The only difference I've found is, naturists tend to be more welcoming and open.

Online forums are probably not the best place to meet other naturists, it is a good place to share experiences, places to go etc. If you haven't already, find a naturist swim. It's likely that it will be 80% men, but you will at least be able to meet real people in person and see where that leads.

I've been to swims, spas, saunas and talked to men, women and couples. It's just like any other social event, just naked. I find people at these events are very welcoming and easy to talk to.

The profile of the OPer is lacking.  It tells nothing about him or his interests, except he's a 42 year old British male.  If he is looking to attract interest, it wouldn't hurt if he put some time and effort into creating an interesting and truthful profile.

You are fortunate to have some non-landed swim clubs nearby so my recommendation would be to make contact and start attending events because once you start meeting naturists you can network with them.  Your profile just lists your county so check the British Naturism site for particulars but at a quick glance, the swims in Reading, Swindon, Bracknell and Watford might be options.

Unfortunately I can't swim so swimming clubs aren't an option.I didn't really post this question looking for feedback on my profile (I had a very comprehensive profile that I eventually deleted. I decided to give the site another try and have found the reduced content has made absolutely no difference) or for advise on how to start socialising, I'm more interested in hearing what others get from social nudity 😃

I enjoy football and rugby, its more fun socialising with people who also enjoy football and rugby. We can talk about the sport, go to games, share experiences. Same with naturism.

I hope you don't mind me saying, but you seem to assume that all single guys are only interested in sex,yes there will be some that are,but it's very easy to say "no,thank you",it's that way of thinking,by many couples, women, but funnily enough, fewer single men, that makes it harder for you as a man on his own,to meet more people

There is no rule that states you have to fill in a profile or how much info one needs to supply.
Get over it and let people do their own thing, if you want to know more about them then send a message.

Back on topic , humans are in general a social animal, some people like to extend their love of the nudist lifestyle to include others just as they do in their textile lifestyle.
My wife for one prefers her love of nudist t be private, however we have been to some social nudist activities where she actively converses  with fellow nudists during the activities when she feels comfortable doing so.

I'm more comfortable without clothes, and other things being equal would rather have friends I don't have to dress for. I don't really care what other people wear, but if they're naked too I'm more confident that they're comfortable with my nudity. So in any area of my life - farm help, social friends, whatever - I make at least some effort to search out social nudists. Long time ago, I could just search out people with a countercultural identification, but those days are past.

Why attend a concert when you can listen to the CD at home?
Why go to a sports match when you can see it better on TV in your own living room?
Why go to a bar when it's cheaper to buy a case of beer and drink at home?
At its simplest form, we like to share experiences with others and while, yes, I can, and do, hang out naked at home, I also like to be with other people and share the joy.

I am not a very social "social nudist". I was a member of a resort for several years, I frequented CO beaches fairly often, and I visited several other resorts while traveling. But I'm an introvert and mostly kept to myself.

So why go where other people are rather than stay home? Because of the camaraderie of the shared experience, and to enjoy the much nicer facilities/environment that a group affords. For example, I could go find a private beach and be nude - and constantly look over my shoulder that some police officer or offended textile was not approaching (I've done that plenty of times too). Or I could go to a designated CO beach and fully relax surrounded by hundreds of other people enjoying the beach naturally. I could turn a corner of my yard into a little "naked fortress", or I could go to a resort & enjoy a pool, lounge chairs, walking trails, a snack bar, and everything else a resort offers. And there're usually other people there, and I may have some nice conversations, too.
Unfortunately I can't swim so swimming clubs aren't an option.
Why can't you swim? Do you have a medical condition, don't know how, or just have an aversion to water? Unless it is a medical condition, I would suggest sucking it up and going to a swim. Most pools have shallow, waist deep, sections where people stand around & talk or play water volleyball or other games. You might find that it comes up in conversation that you you can't swim and someone may help to teach you.

And in my experience, for most adults, "swimming" usually means standing around in the pool talking (possibly monitoring children who are swimming). A few hardy folks swim laps, but not many.

I do have a problem with my ears when they get wet and I can only swim a few metres so swimming clubs are not ideal for me.Mostly great responses from everyone. I agree that my pull to social nudism is about sharing something I enjoy with like minded people.Folklovers analogies are spot on

We have been social nudists for 12 years. My first wife kept me in the closet also.  We have really enjoyed meeting very honest people at resorts and parties adn we think it has been important for our kids development.  I encourage you to get her in touch with other women in nudism to answer her questions.  Contact the local club to get some contacts.  they will assure her nudism does not mean swinging or whatever she is thinking.  Our non-landed club has regular parties and they are a wonderful time.
