The Coronavirus, also called COVID-19, is spreading rapidly. In NE Ohio, the governor has advised all schools and events having 100 or more people, to close. How are you dealing with it?

Some shortages at the grocery store.
Most of my community activities have been cancelled.

No reported cases anywhere near me.
Not sure why everyone is in such a panic, it's just a new variant of an existing virus. I can see if you have other health issues why you might take precautions, but if you are otherwise healthy, you have very little to worry about (Other than not being able to find toilet paper in the store). Wash your hands, stay away from other sick people, stay away from everyone else if you are sick. Common sense folks.

noodengr2Mar 13, 2020Unique position here. I was in a safe place when it broke out Africa then a week and half in Spain / Portugal. Also barely impacted before I left. Then flew into NYC and began to see impacts. Concerts cancelled more masks on the faces. Came home overnight on the train now in Indiana and "reality" Forced to tune into day to day non travel life. Personally I think total over reaction. Places trying to isolate themselves is nearly impossible. Someone will always be a patient zero in an area eventually now or next week or next month. And the virus will go around. We have to let it run its course.

Schools are now closed for 3 weeks and the governor is asking any events with 100 or more people to cancel. I'm not worried about it. There are some paper shortages here, but it's not bad. I don't think that this will be as bad as the Flu of 1918.ReactReply

I work in Los Angeles and people are starting to be more aware now that the school district has closed all the schools in the county. It's effecting people at work, but thankfully people are remaining relatively calm. Unless you're at Costco. Buddha/Vishnu/Cher help you if you are trying to shop for toilet paper at Costco...

I agree! Panic mode and running to the store in fear does not help anyone. It's like Y2K all over again! All you need to do is cough/ sneeze into one's elbow and wash hands for 30 seconds everyone.

Stone AndyMar 14, 2020I am ready to stack up 12 x 48 rolls of toilet paper as great totem against the Covid-19 spirits and dance around it naked in my living room. Then I will wear scuba gear to venture into Costco and see if I can dive for the last remnants of any remaining pasta. If the weather gets warmer I'm going to sport a gas mask and nothing else in public. But I will still wake up scared breathless every morning at 2 AM with the great haunting angst that somebody, somewhere is not using hand sanitizer.

nwuknaturistMar 14, 2020I live NW UK and although there is talk of shortages of some items, personally l recently found everything needed for my own meagre needs. However because of iffy health l learnt long ago to keep a back up stock of basic things like tea/coffee, soup, porridge, long life milk for when lm too unwell to leave the house. So the only thing l miss out on is fresh items like fruit or bread, the first if which l can do without by using tin fruit and the second if pushed and we'll enough l am able to home bake!
Having recently hit mid age, l regrettably now have complex underlying illnesses so come into the vulnerable category. but if l get just a cold let alone the flu, it commonly puts me out if action for 3 ~4 weeks. So yes l am naturally being more cautious but otherwise atm continuing to live life fairly normally. However, this virus isnt going away in the near future but predicted tohit a peak this summer, then continue to be around over the coming winter and most winters here after so guess we'll have to get used to it.
Tbh what scares me far more is leaving the EU, more so now than ever given the frighteningly unsure global economy which is unlikely to pick up in the next few yrs.ReactReply - TJ
TJMar 14, 2020I can't say for sure, but I suspect the massive buy outs of toilet paper may actually be people choosing a huge stockpile of that as an alternative or supplement to their supply of tissues. I mean we're talking two to four weeks of respiratory problems. That probably equates to mountains of mucous, and TP comes cheaper than Kleenex. Of course, it can make for raw nostrils sooner if not careful, but on the side of practical economics, it is a persuasive case to just roll with it.
If you can at least save some coin during your near death experience, hey...
