The spirituality of nudism

I had first gone to a nude beach back in 1988, IIRC. This was a nude beach not far north of the NASA launch site in Florida.

I was twenty years old at the time, and I went to see nude girls, of course. And while there were plenty of girls there, I discovered something that I did not expect.

It didn't take long for me to discover that I felt unusually relaxed at the nude beach. It was not unlike a Zen experience. I felt my ego-boundaries slip away and felt more of a connection with my surroundings. I think that I had even experienced the sound of the waves crashing against the shore more than at any textile beach. I can only describe my experience as a "spiritual" experience.

    I describe my first social nudist experience as euphoric. It was at a nude beach and I don't believe I've ever felt that way before or since.

    For me the spirituality of nudism manifests itself not on a crowded nude beach or resort, but when I'm alone naked in nature; preferably the forest or a mountain. For me it's very "Daoist"; I completely become part of nature, no more no less.All things carry yin and embrace yang. They reach harmony by blending with the vital breath. [Tao Te Ching chapter 42]Something like that.

    I love to sit naked naked on the waters edge of the beach at sunrise. With my earpods in and hooked to my ipod listening to Peter, Paul and Mary songs such as "500 miles". Very relaxing and enlightening.
