One of the things that non-nudist and non-naturist friends ask me about visiting nude locales is, What if someone you know sees you there?
I always tell them that since they are there too, there isnt a chance that they are going to make much hay of it.
When I used to go to the sweat lodge, I met several people I knew from elsewhere there, including a co-worker and an old schoolmate. Given the nature of that community, I was never surprised by who these people were.
Since Ive been frequenting our local nude resort, Ive run across three people I knew from elsewhere. Two of them were a bit of a surprise. One was a local TV personality. Ive since friended her on Facebook but never quite told her where I met her. I havent come up with a way to bring it up. Another was a former state senator. We recognized each other immediately and had a long chat.
The third was a surprise, not for me but for her, and it shouldnt have been. I was walking out of the restaurant and she approached me. Hi! Are you surprised to see me here? I was, but only because it had been years since Id seen her around. As we chatted, she kept going on about how I must be so surprised to see her naked. I had to remind her that we had met at the sweat lodge, and she was naked when we first met years before. We also dated a few times. She apparently forgot about all of this.
I hoped I would have made more of an impact.

JackOct 21, 2019To the contrary, I actually hope to run into somebody I know. My wife and I are still very new to naturism and haven't "come out" about it yet. It would be nice to have friends to talk to about it and go places with. P.S. You're in danger of lowering my opinion of you when you admit to hanging out with politicians :)

Mr. EOriginal PosterOct 21, 2019Oh, dont get me wrong, I have no problem meeting folks I know from elsewhere. Its kind of refreshing, actually. I am a bit closeted because there might be problems at the day job. The reason why I bring it up is that the last person who will make a stink about seeing me naked somewhere is the person who was also naked there, right?
Despite my day job worries, one of the people I go to the local nude spot with is a co-worker. Go figure.

noodengr2Oct 21, 2019twice it has happened at Turtle Lake Nudist Resort near Kalamazoo MI. the first time it was my nearest neighbors ( 1/5 mile up the road) an old couple who pretty much keep to themselves. but it did explain why he was not shocked when i had greeted him nude the year before when he stopped by. We don't socialize they pretty much keep to themselves in their retirement home and are now in their 90s.
The second time i was in the conversation pool after the 5k run/walk soaking away the soreness. One young man said his name in relation to wondering what his students would think if they knew he had done a nude race. It clicked I knew the young man's dad and casually knew him thru seeing him preform when he was in a high school play. I mentioned to him our connection and assured him that I would not go back home and blab, but added that if he wanted to tell folks he met me at a nudist resort that was fine with me.

OllyOct 21, 2019Everyone around me knows I'm a nudist so they wouldn't be surprised to come across me naked. I did meet a work mate and his wife at Charco del Palo. I was naked, they were not.

Mr. EOriginal PosterOct 22, 2019When the sweat lodge was still open, I ran across several people I knew from other parts of my life: a professor, a guy I went to junior high with and a girl I had a minor crush on a decade before.
One day, I went there and I found myself in the lodge with a guy I went to high school with and a guy that went to the high school before I went there. The high school was not officially affiliated with a religion, but the headmaster was an Episcopal priest.
The three of us sat around laughing about meeting each other while naked. What would everyone at the school think. In unison we said, what would the reverend think? We laughed some more.

Mr. EOriginal PosterOct 25, 2019I went up to Tanque Verde Falls a few years ago, our unofficial nude spot. I ran across a guy up there that I recognized as a singer from church. I introduced myself and he seemed really put out that someone from church saw him. The fact that I was running around naked too didnt seem to matter. I felt bad and thought I should have left him alone.

Eric/ReinaOct 25, 2019Last night I met a friend I only knew from the nudist club I go to. I was at the bowling alley. She came by to talk to one of the guys on my team. I knew that I knew her but I could not place from where I knew her. When she told me we just laughed. Kind of fun to know we have a mutual friend.

We used to have a nudist community in town called the Sweatlodge. I met a woman there, but only introduced myself. Sometime over the following week, she ended up meeting my twin brother and thought it was me and didnt understand why this person didnt know who she was. She said Dont you recognize me with my clothes on? It ended up being a good laugh next time we saw each other. We went on a few dates even.ReactReply - LA

goodwrench360waOct 26, 2019At the beginning of last summer we where invited to attend a friends fitness competition with some other of her friends. After the competition we all where out having drinks and something was mentioned about a nude vacation and next thing you know we find out that our friends for many years are also nudist and most of her friends at the bar with us also go to the same beach as us and relax and enjoy each others company on the weekends. So we where told to come down to the area of the beach they all hang out at and we did the following weekend and now we see most of them every weekend it is nice out.

dennisOct 26, 2019Our lives should not be secret. When talking to whoever, be real
When asled what I like to do, I tell them. On time off I like to go to the beach, hike with nature and enjoy natural hot springs. That the door opener. If they ask where? I tell them. Blacks beach (local) and Gunnison when in the area visiting, deep creek and hike naked. Some looks occasionally but never a bad or nasty comment. Worst maybe was a relative responded to a picture of a hoyts crossing sign that she could not do that. People are more naked than they will allow others to know.ReactReply - TD
Tom DOct 26, 2019Opposite happened to me.
Someone in one of my community bands wore a Gunnison t-shirt to a rehearsal, so we had a private conversation about it.
He usually goes on weekends with his wife, and I generally go on weekdays to avoid the crowd and my wife never comes, so we haven't seen each other there.ReactReply - MEMemberOct 26, 2019
On our 3rd or 4th visit to Cypress Cove I heard a hi Don from behind me and recognized a woman I worked with. I was working in a department store warehouse at the time and she worked in the warehouse office. We only spoke occasionally at work since I was on a delivery truck and left the warehouse once the truck was loaded.
I met several people from Cypress Cove around central Florida . I got a job in my field and traveled around fixing computer systems. I was working on a corporate customers computer system when one of the exec's walked into the building thru the computer room with his new wife. I new her from the Cove. He went on to work, she stopped and talked awhile. She hadn't told her new husband about here nudist life. I didn't see her at the Cove again.
And another time after working on a computer system at the space center I wondered the halls and came upon a name on an office name tag I new. He and another NASA Eng. , also a Cove member, gave me a tour of the place including the old launch control room.
Was always running into nudists around and about. Cypress Cove must have had a thousand members back then.

I went to a nude day during a Nude Art exhibition at my state's art gallery a couple of years ago. To my great surprise (and delight), I bumped into a colleague from my undergrad years at uni. Not only she remembered me, but she also knew my name even though we had fairly limited contact back in the days. She was still as gorgeous as I remember her, if not better! I think she had a partner/boyfriend with her at the exhibition, but I do not think her was overly impressed when we chatted. I just wished that I had got her contact details then as I really liked her personality and casualness with our encounter.

Earlier in my years I might have been a little weary. But I'll second that seeing people you know is only strongly positive.
First, you automatically have a closer bond with someone you know regardless of how you know them, you're both there because you enjoy nude living. Related to that, you now have more people who understand nudism who you can either talk about it with or just live this way without having to explain yourself.
Second, it helps with the spread of nudism. The more the merrier!

Mr. EOriginal PosterNov 3, 2019I went up into the hills outside of town to hike up to one of our nude spots and I saw a guy there I recognized from the choir at a church service that I go to sometimes. He was tall with a distinctive mane of curly hair, so hard to miss. After a while, I approached him and told him I recognized him. I dont think I said it in any sinister way or anything, but he was really put off that he got recognized from church. I think he wanted to keep the two parts of his life separate.
I felt bad for him.

CoR YYCDec 26, 2019Three different occasions, all fairly unremarkable, at the wave pool events hosted by our local group.
The first was a yoga instructor whose nude yoga class I had been aware of. We chatted, and I went to a few of her classes. Two photos in my profile are from her sessions.
The second was someone I'd met at a science fiction fan convention through mutual friends. At the wave pool she told me about her Naked Girls Reading group. I checked out one of their shows and am on their list for their annual Naked Guys Reading show.
The third was funny. A friend I hadn't seen in twenty years thought he'd recognized me at an earlier event, but didn't have his glasses on in the pool. This time I was hanging around the deck and he took a chance and introduced himself. I am glad he did, we spent a good hour catching up. It was funny to me because we talked about vinyl LPs and Star Trek and the blue convertible he used to drive, just like any conversation we ever had, except we were standing there naked surrounded by a hundred other naked people, which sounds like a New Yorker cartoon.
That's about it. Pretty ordinary if you ignore the national scandal and crazy non-stop sex that naturally ensued. LOL, just kidding. Meeting people at nude events is just like meeting people anywhere else, except neither of you has pockets.

RyanDec 26, 2019I've always wanted to run into someone I knew, but haven't had that opportunity yet. I travel a lot for work so I'm usually away from home when visiting nudist places. I figure if I ever do, it shouldn't be awkward because we'd both be naked, and that's what we are both there for. Hopefully someday.

The funniest thing we had was when we were on vacation with my wifes parents. One day we decided to go our own way. They were going shopping and we were going to the beach. The nude beach was a few miles away and we were walking down the beach when we ran into them walking the beach clothed. The thing that most surprised us was that they were completely comfortable with us nude and they were surprised we didnt bring a cover up
