than commercial profiteering. Buy a bunch of flowers for your wife
or girlfriend on valentine's day and you will most likely pay at
least double the price than you would a few days before.
You shouldn't need to be encouraged and bullied into showing your love and appreciation for someone. It should be at any time of year whenever you feel like doing so, and not to line the pockets off all the rip-off merchants.

- NUnudeyooperFeb 19, 2016I agree very much. There is no question that your love should be expressed in an on going manner and that buying stuff is not necessarily an expression of love. It is the every day things we do for each other that count. That being said, I buy flowers, candy, and cards but on the day after that commercial exploitation at half price or better and we both enjoy.ReactReply

KeithFeb 19, 2016I fully agree, where did they originate. Plus Christmas and Easter have been blown way out of kilter by the over commercialization of both events. Like its February and already the easter adverts are appearing. Next it will be Christmas in July, what a joke.

KohaanFeb 19, 2016The U.S. economy DEPENDS upon people buying stuff on/for these days... especially Christmas. But, if you research their origins, you will quickly discover that none of them are what they are currently presented to be. They all have a hidden agenda, but can we afford to change now? Some of themmighthave originally had good intentions, but the politicians, the profiteers and many other people have obscured the truth about them, in most cases... I must tread lightly here, because we all know how easy it is to stumble into an argument when discussing politics or religion, don't we. / ?ReactReply - FU
FullSunFeb 19, 2016I some ways I agree because of the commercialism. However, with the way society and life is today, it does not hurt to have a reminder to give some attention to special people in your life. With the fast pace of life in today's society recognizing people and celebrating them can easy slip by and be forgotten.

Easterisless than 5 weeks away, this year, but maybe it is a little early to advertise it ... and BTW, is Christmas really in December on the 25th? What are the earliest records of anyone celebrating these events? Do these events, currently, accurately represent our most accurate source of authority? You don't have to answer here because the answer is not obvious to most people, and may in fact, be ambiguous, intentionally. . . . We DO need to recognize and celebrate people as well as important events ... but don't do it carelessly. ... On a day to day basis ... IMHO ... it is important to remember that... an ounce of praise and encouragement is worth far more than a pound of criticism.ReactReply
