May 5, 2012Hi Everyone I'm starting a series of interviews to see why people feel the urge to get naked. Everyone here has different reasons why they enjoy being naked. As you'll see from the various posts on the forums and the huge disparity beteween the people here, that it's not an easy topic to get your head around. We're all different after all. So, I'm doing a thesis on the subject. This is your chance to have you're say. Whether you're a recent convert to the naked lifestyle or whether you're a seasoned campaigner, I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions. There's a lot of work in this so it will take me some time. I'm hoping to get the thesis completed by the end of the year, yes that long. At the end I hope to at least have an idea of why everyone is drawn to nakedness. So how do you get your say? I'd like to interview between 100 and 200 people of all ages and persuasions over the coming months. I need to know your opinions. Young or old, married single divorced, male female, gay straight. In fact it's more important that I get a range of people, not just a narrow demographic. If you'd like to take part send me a message here or e-mail me atmaskedw@yahoo.com. I'll be doing the interviews over skype or yahoo at the convenience of the people taking part. Don't worry, you don't have to be naked during the interview. It's not compulsory. Whatever you feel comfortable with. It's your opinion that counts. The only stipulation that I have is that you speak English, but if you've read this, that won't be a problem. I look forward to speaking to you all soon. Thanks. As a side issue, does anybody think I can cover the impulse for nakedness in this time?

maskedwOriginal PosterMay 6, 2012Eddie Thanks for your interest and your input. I have a structured set of discussion points to go through as part of my exercise. It's important that I have a structured approach other than having random coversations. I value all opinions. I want to get to the psychology of nudism. I'm sure different people have many different reasons for wanting to be naked. I'm trying to get to these reasons. I'm very positive about the naked lifestyle and body confidence and want to understand why. Sign up and participate. Everything is ultimately anonymous. Your secrets are safe with me, lol.

Would have to agree here, not normally one to side with the grammar Nazis, (my spelling and grammar is shocking)
However as you are wanting to do a thesis, which normally means that you are in post degree study by the looks of it a psychology major or similar, I would expect the grammar and spelling to be next to perfect. I can just imagine the look of your professor, as he reads though a well researched Thesis on the psychology of nudists, just to find a lot of spelling and grammar errors....ReactReply - NS
nswkiwi42May 6, 2012On a side note though... it would not be a well researched thesis if you did not take part in nudism yourself, and put a bit of personal experience into it. (If Possible) Start with going to bed one night naked, then when you get up in the morning, don't get dressed until you HAVE to walk out the door, and when you get home, undress and do everything you would normally do at home on a normal day, just without clothes on (obviously if your cooking and there is a chance of fat splatter eg. bacon then it may pay to put an apron on at the very least) After doing that a few times, head down to the nearest nude beach, spend an hour or so swimming, sunbathing or just reading a book. Then finally find a resort nearby and spend a weekend there. Get to know other people on a personal level, not just a clinical one.
Its not a lifestyle for everyone (if it was clothing optional would be the norm) and you will either love it, or hate it.ReactReply - MA

GrantMay 7, 2012We are naturists/ nudists here, you may call it naked, but we are not, as we are in our birthday suits an feel proud of it. You mayhave found your way of reading through all the forums, threads and posts. Why ask for more, as this is all we can give to you, beyond having to dress up. We just feel most happy in being undressed. I hope this will sink into your Brain.ReactReply - GR

Tom === Thomas S. TierneyMay 7, 2012[quote]The grammar & spelling-which has now been corrected-does seem to hint that maybe this isn't for a college thesis.
But assuming authenticity, I would recommend making the history of bathing suits a part of your research, and how nudity, swimming, and sunbathing was regarded before the invention of them.
I would also consider the psychology of "textiles" as a counterpoint to the psychology of nudists. As a previous post recommends, try a few activities.
Sleep nude-you won't be pulling your PJ's out of crevices throughout the night.
Have you ever been in a hot tub with a few friends and wonder why it seems like somebody dumped bubble bath into the water? It's the residual detergent from the bathing suits. Try it with everyone nude.... voila>>>no magic bubbles. Much more pleasant.
Are you a beach goer? How's the sand feel in those crevices? In the pocket of your bathing suit?Sometimes, nudity is just more sensible. That is, if you are mature enough to get past the correlation to sex and pop-culture "norms" of body image.

"which has now been corrected"
Really? Look again. "you're" is a contraction of "you are" and I see at least one misspelled word.ReactReply - MA

DesertRatMay 7, 2012Maskedw,
If you really want people to cooperate in your thesis, then I believe that you should be a little more open with us. Your profile is virtually a blank sheet. Who are you? What is the purpose of this thesis? The first thing that you should try is to experience the feeling of social nudism for yourself. It may help to become certified. Maybe I don't know the rules for writing a thesis today because it's been quite a while since I did that sort of thing, but it seems to me that posting a questionnaire online would serve your cause better. You could survey men and women from every age group, religion, nationality, working class, social status, marital status and on and on. You'd get everything from the straight laced prudes to the wildest exhibitionists. IMHO that is what a thesis should show, who feels what about what.
I guess what I am saying is that you should do a research study similar to what Masters and Johnson did on sexual attitudes.
I don't know how it is in the UK, but if you were in the US and a great writer, you could get a government grant to do this study. Come to think of it, that's a great idea. Maybe I'll apply for a grant.ReactReply - MA
