Would you go to an art gallery nude?

Hypothetical question time: if an art gallery of significance (eg JP Getty or here in Australia National or State) offered an evening nude experience would you go?

There will be all works of art from sketches and paintings through to sculptures in various media. There will be some life art experience and you can draw or model.

Just to set the scene some more -
1. The curator and the gallery attendants may not be nude, they are the regular staff and have volunteered but are also paid.
2. The CCTV system will be active.
3. Visitors cannot be nude in the car park, there is a portable 'change room' set up just inside the lobby.
4. The regular public nudity laws apply once outside and police will call by during the event.
5. You can stay for as long as you like up until closing time (1.00AM).

So are you in?
Yes, and I have. Naked Art LA is an annual event where artists who their art about the naked body. There is a naked showing for the first 2 hours of the first day where all attendees are naked and some of the artists as well. I can't post photos here, but I have plenty from that event.
I, like mizoka, have gone to the Naked Art LA event on year and even got interviewed by Go Naked TV (or something like that) since we are from Texas and were at a nude art event in Los Angeles. We did attend the two your where we were allowed to be nude while viewing the nude art forms. It was wonderful to view all the different types of nude art. Plus I got to meet mizoka and few other TN guys. Always a pleasure to meet TN members, and create more of a friendship than digital.

I most definitely would yes. I went to a nude play in Seattle at the Repertory Theatre back stage. They play was about nudity. The audience were allowed to disrobe in the bathrooms once inside and were able to sit through the whole play nude. I loved it and would most definitely go to the art gallery nude. Just tell me when and where.
We've been to the Getty. While walking around, we both commented to each other that it would be the perfect venue for a nude event. With the ability to close it off and have a private function for nudists, I think you'd get more people to pay to visit nude than they would think. Italy's museums make sense to have nude events, but I doubt that would ever happen.
My thoughts exactly! Was the first thing I thought about when I was there some years ago

Absolutely! I am writing some short stories about nudists and that scenario comes up. The characters talk about having a nude viewing at the Dali Museum in St. Pete, Florida, as he had a lot of nudes in his works.

From what I've read by people who have gone to nude events at art museums, art museums are kept cool in order to preserve the artwork and it becomes uncomfortable to be naked in that environment quickly. It's probably one of those things that seems like it would be a lot more fun than it ends up being.

If an art gallery has to use a gimmick to get people in to view the art.

Then maybe it should display better art.

Difficult to say. I doubt if many people who appreciate art would not go to a museum simply because they couldn't be nude. Also for female dancers and models, those with less talent often perform with less or no clothing.

Back in 2013 a small local museum (ESMoA) invited our non-landed club (SCNA) to have a nude event in their museum to compliment their exhibit of nude artwork. We repeated that event in 2015. In addition we've participated at the NudeLA art event mentioned earlier by Mizoka and Doneright (who we got to meet). Every year except the Covid years we've hosted a Scavenger Hunt at the Getty Museum. Unfortunately we can't be nude there, but the hunt is based around answering questions about all the nude artwork in the various pavilions.

Like Mizoka, Doneright, and jaybirds, I've been to the one in Los Angeles, multiple times. And, so folks can find it, the event is actually called Nude Art LA. The website is still active with a 2023 copyright date. nudeartla.com. So, hopefully they will resume events. They began annually, but actually had a couple a year, once they got going. And the organization isn't one particular museum or studio. The events are held in various spaces. Some intimate, with different rooms, some in more of an open plan. Along with the art, they have had artists drawing/painting live models, a space for guests to draw, a catwalk for fashion shows, and so on.

Just saw this report today from a recent event and thought some might be interested. You can switch over to an English version on the site.

Love the Getty Museum - spent an entire day there on one trip. Have some pics on my profile page. It would be divine to be nude there though wouldn't it!
