If you keep a lookout for the farmer, I'll run and grab one of those roosters for supper.

Instead, lets ask the farmer's wife if there are any chores we can do to earn our supper, and maybe a place to sleep tonight.

I told a guy, "I'm homeless and so poor I have to eat grass."
He said, "I'll take you home and feed you, my grass hasn't been cut for months."

We need to be on the next freight train, because if we miss it, there won't be another for three days.

OK. If you say so. What do you suggest we do about food and shelter for the next three days?

We would not be stuck in this place waiting  three days for another freight train, if you had not been messing about with the farmer's wife.

We'll end up with an ass full of buckshot if that redneck farmer catches you, so let's get outa here before it's too late.

We have two choices, hitch a ride or find money for a bus.

There is a red neck band appearing in the nearest town. Maybe we can hitch a ride with them in their tour bus.

It's time to do the hiking part of hitch hiking. The place the band is playing is about 5 miles down the road.

I've manage to get us a ride in a cattle truck for the next fifty miles, to where it should be more civilised, with plenty of freight trains to jump.
