Have you ever been arrested for nudity?

  • One of my greatest fears (besides getting an erection, lol) is being arrested or caught by the neighbors for being nude. I have been to several nudity tolerated beaches, Playalinda, Apollo, Hering Cove. I have also been nude on several secluded beaches where nudity was not allowed. I have hiked nude in secluded areas. I spend much time in my backyard in the nude. I have a pool and a fence, but it would be fairly easy for someone to see me if they put some effort into it. I am sure a couple of neighbors have seen me and assumed I had nothing on. So far, no one has said anything. Have I been lucky or do I need to be more careful so that I do not get caught? It seems that I get more daring now that I am retired and I am not risking losing my job for being arrested. What are your experiences?

Many people complain about nudity in order to "protect the Children". What they are really doing is teaching the children that the human body is dirty and to be despised. Unfortunately, these people were taught this by their parents.
it would be fun to throw that argument back at them.  Have them site a real case where any child or any adult for that matter were ever harmed in anyway by seeing a naked body.    Give real documented evidence that any short term or lasting harm was done by seeing skin.  When you think about it at the level doesn't it make you wonder where anti nudity laws even came from?  There are so many real dangerous things in this world that folks need protection from, why anyone would want to waste time worrying about skin in view is beyond me
    ...
Another good question to ask... but I'm sure it will be dismissed as irrelevant by some people...  How many, if any, actual sexcrimesare committed by naked people?    Don't most flashers etc. wear clothes? ...    Your -need for- clothing can typically be determined by the location and activities at that location.  Assuming someone is a criminal by the way they are dressed only works if you are wearing clothing given to criminals...  even so, maybe some people like orange or Red and white striped jumpsuits as casual wear ;-)    IMHO, this issue of assuming nude is criminal, sounds more like apolitical power playthan any sort of -protect the children- policy.  ... As stated above... where is the supporting, relevant  evidence?

P.S. also see my update in post #30 above.
The thing is that most people who support the law makers (vote for them) don't understand about true nudity ie non sex nudity and think nudity other for baths/showers/ changing is only for sex. Also they think anything they were told that nudity harms children is correct as this only comes in as the parents frighten the children into thinking nudity is dangerous when 99% of the children would not be bothered over it. Also the brain dead will think public nudity means the "P word" as well and is unsafe for nude people to be around their children.

Never have, but at my 30th class reunion (shortly after NJ stopped nude swimming at unofficial clothing optional sites on state property) we had a ranger who was responsible for enforcing the law and few people he had arrested!

The neighbours on the one side can see me but I simply don't care. The previous tenant in that house called the police but they just asked me to try and cover up, to which I replied "okay". The police left and I just continued doing what I always did, I never covered up at all. The police have never been back because they know that I could turn around and sue the complainant for invasion of privacy. That tenant has now vacated the property and another tenant has now moved in.

You might consider greeting your new neighbors and talk to them about the subj.
You might consider greeting your new neighbors and talk to them about the subj.
Agreed. You'll probably have better results having a friendly dialogue versus unilateral/combative action. Unless they're unreasonable/puritanical, then you're screwed either way.
Yes . In 2014 . Was arrested after walking back on a trail from the beach to the parking lot . Was seen by 2 people who both called the cops with their cell phones and gave detailed descriptions of me to the cops . Cost almost $ 1200 . Spent a nightin jail . Fines , Recovery of my vehicle from the impound lot , and 3 months Probation . Learned from the Judge , and the Probation Officer that nudity is tolerated , but still illegal , at the beach if you aren't trying to ' shock ' people with your open expression of nudity .In other words , try to be hidden . Minute you enter the woods leading back to the parking lot makes your nudity intentional , and they can therefore arrest you for Indecent Exposure . Learned my lesson . Be Careful in Michigan .
That incident is why I have changed my behavior. Here is my experience which I would not duplicate these days: Many years ago I found a secluded beach on Key Biscayne off Miami, Florida. It was an extension of a popular, beautiful textile beach. The nude portion was way beyond the clothed beach and not widely known as frequented by nudists. The two easiest ways to get to the nude portion was either walking along the beach from the clothed section or walking from the regular parking lot, parallel to the beach, on the dirt path fire access road. I usually walked the fire road since it was an easier walk than on the beach sand. Another benefit of the fire road was once you rounded a bend you were no longer visible to anyone in the parking lot, only to those further down the road. This was not a road frequented by many people; usually only those going to or coming from the hidden nude beach. Often, after rounding the bend, I would remove what little clothing I was wearing and walk naked the rest of the way. One time though, while nude, I saw a clothed couple walking towards me, after they had rounded a bend up ahead. They were not dressed like they were coming from the nude beach. They looked like tourists from the Midwest, with heavy and inappropriate clothing for the beach. I was in a quandary as what to do. They were 100 yards or so away, they looked to be about 30 years old, and they could clearly see I was naked. It seemed if I put on my shorts I would be admitting I was guilty of something. At the same time, they were walking only a short distance away from other nude people. Maybe they had already seen them. I decided to remain nude and not buckle to the social guilt I was supposed to feel. After all, they were adults and both should have seen a naked male. As we passed each other, one of them made a snide comment to the other about what they had just witnessed. My point is I felt safe in there was not much the couple could do about having seen me nude. If they had reported me and taken the trouble to try find me on the beach it would have been their word against mine. But this happened before cell phones with cameras. These days, if such a incident presented itself, I would put on shorts before they would be able to take a photo.

Yes. I was arrested in the late 70's while nude sunbathing at Bear Cut on the north end of Key Biscayne. Back then it was rarely used for anything other than a nude beach. I was just unlucky one day. The charges were dropped. I had a very, very, good and well known lawyer in the city. Then again in the 80's near Mickler's Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach that was again before it was as popular as it is today. The 2nd time I paid a fine and the record expunged.
Besides a few traffic tickets those were the only two interactions with law enforcement I've ever had.

No, the closest is when the ranger at the as you call it nudist tolerant Herring Cove, said "sir, you need to put your bottoms on". It was a very relaxing day and while I usually keep an open eye/ear, that day I was zoned out until I heard the static of a walkie-talkie, followed by "sir . . ." i still find it funny how he phrased it. How many bottoms do I have and I guess as a man, I was free from needing to put on a top.

Rosa Parks among many other civil rights leaders were arrested to bring proper attention to their rights and injustices. More naturists/nudists need to overcome the conditioning/programming weve been bombarded with and assaulted by all our lives.

There are zealots out there, but any [strong]SMART ARTICULATE[/strong] non-violent person (with a good ethical lawyer or not) can beat the serious charges and can usually walk without a lasting sentence above a simple misdemeanor traffic ticket-level penalty. Technically, the US Constitution is on our side when it comes to non-violent freedoms; folks have just been conditioned to be too timid to be free.

On April 2, 2010, singer/songwriter/producer/director [strong]Erykah Badu[/strong] was charged with disorderly conduct for appearing nude in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas while filming the social-political, performance art, self-directed music video for [em][strong]"Window Seat"[/strong][/em]. No witnesses called police at the time of the incident, but the Dallas Police Department actively sought witnesses after the release of the video. Sgt. Warren Mitchell said the decision to cite Badu for a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500 came after witness Ida Espinosa, 32, of Vernon, offered a sworn statement to police Thursday, April 1. Espinosa declined to comment to The Associated Press. On April 28, 2010, Badu pleaded not guilty rather than paying the fee by mail. On August 13, she paid the $500 ticket and began a term of six months' probation.

I'm happy to say the beach is still in use, and largely ignored by HPD. Thanks to NAC and TNS for partially funding the defense.

Had another encounter with the law. This time I had just stepped from the shower and heard a knock on the door. I wrapped a towel around me and went to answer it. It was the DNR officer and he proceeded to give me a warning for trespassing in the woods adjoining my property. A new owner had purchased it and put some game cams up to monitor wildlife. He had spotted me roaming around. The officer was very polite about it. If the new owner had mentioned to the officer I was nude , the officer made no mention of it to me , nor was it noted on the written warning I have since apologized to the new owner, a 20 something Amish guy. He accepted my apology

I was never arrested. But many years ago a friend and I were hassled by a ranger when we were sunbathing nude in the dunes above the beach at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. He sprang on us suddenly. As we scrambled into our shorts he paced back and forth talking on his walkie talkie as if reporting us. Asked us some questions about whether we saw a naked guy flaunting himself. I don't think his intent was to arrest, just scare us into our clothes.
