Hi,
I've always been interested in the nudist life style but always been hesitant to try and visit any places thay allow it because of some birth defects / medical conditions. I found due to ada they cannot discriminate due to them, but still fear would make others uncomfortable or be offensive so wanted ya'll's opinon before i look to much.

This may be tmi for some and if so i apologize but not sure how to explain other than to just bare it out there... sooo

I was born with multiple birth defects spinabifida ,which between it and botched spine surgery mostly use a wheelchair wheelchair, bowel issues which means i have a colostomy bag (i could keep covered with a wash cloth if need be), I'm also 100% in continent of urine so i wear diapers( one place i spoke to said it fine as long as I stayed in my wheel chair and kept diaper under me or extra towels and avoided pool and hot tubs. i also have surigical scars and genital defects such as micro penis.

Thats kinda it so idk how people would react.

Thanks

The resort has addressed the practicalities of your visit, it seems reasonably enough. Would people be offended? No. Nudists are a pretty accepting lot. Uncomfortable? Probably. Your particular disabilities are unusual and will be quite obvious naked. And although it's not really fair, it will be on you to deal with that discomfort. Either by pushing quickly to a conversation that's not about your disability, or by sharing your story. Your call. But do give it a try!

At the place where I have a membership there are many people with varying physical differences in diverse physical abilities and conditions. People dont interact with them through the lens of their bodies but through their personalities and personhood. Beyond the requirements you were given by the nudist venue I cant see a reason for your experience to be different.

Some i contacted in my younger days had some slightly rude responses so im cautious and wouldn't ever want to make anyone uncomfortable

    So true ! Thank you!

I've had a few non nudist be super grossed out by my colostomy especially. . Therefor when j got the responses that I did and that was an aspect they mentioned it made me especially cautious . I'm one that always try's to put others feelings, comfort and well being ahead of myself.
So I'm trying to truly make certain i take every precautions and know whats what first.

    Any other tips or suggestions?

One thing i wish is i could find local home nudists that would allow me to visit so not on such a large scale to see how that was first.
But doesnt seem like many in the area and being a single male adds its own complications

Several years ago I encountered a man in an essentially identical situation. He attracted some extra attention because he was obviously different from the rest of us and people are naturally curious about unusual people or things. After satisfying their curiosity most people will treat you just like anyone else.

Some people have trouble dealing with such things as colostomy bags, but theyre necessary for some. (One of my twin stepdaughters just had a cancerous portion of her colon removed, and she will be dealing with a colostomy bag.) Dont let you fear that you might not be accepted, prevent you from enjoying yourself, its very unlikely.

    Resorts discriminate.

As a single father, I've been denied entry to nudist resorts. Most do not do that outright, but have quotas in place or they make unreasonable legal requirements. For example, I was instructed to bring my kids' birth certificates and an affidavit from their mom allowing me to bring them, which totally disregarded the legal rights I have in our divorce agreements. Resorts may be careful not to outright ban you, but leave things open-ended so that you may or may not be admitted once you get there. Therefore, unless you live closeby, you may risk driving there in vain. I bring this up to you as a single male. As far as accomodating your physical needs, I don't have any knowledge. Good luck!

Honestly im the type would prefer the curious flat out ask. I've learned to accept myself as i am. My only caution is trying to be respectful to others comfort, feelings, ect.
Thats why i thought say a wash cloth over the colostomy was a good idea. As they couldnt see much grossness that way.

Thank you. I actually check that aspect as well prior.
I've even looked at having a female friend who is open to the idea go along with to help that issue.
But the physical issues are main concern

At the beaches I go to it's never been a problem. There's been a couple of one leg/one arm guys. Guys with colostomy bags, various skin conditions, etc. And this is the great thing - it's a non judgemental place where people feel safe to be different. I remember a post on a non-nude forum about a guy who had suffered burns and was self conscious about his appearance. He wanted to go to a beach, but was not surprisingly hesitant to do so. Someone thoughtfully suggested a nude beach, which is what I was thinking all along as I read through the posts.
Resorts might be a different thing however, since they tend to be more conformist and image focused.

One last question (sorry ya'll) in regards to this.
Do you think a wash cloth covering my colostomy would be enough or i should i try and find more options for more coverage? I just dont wanna offend or gross anyone out. But wanna be as free as i can..

Also any recommendations of beaches or resorts within a couple hours of Gulfport ms?
Also any recommendations of beaches or resorts within a couple hours of Gulfport ms?
I can't speak to that at all. You might want to visit there while clothed and see what the vibe is there. And the resort owners will probably give you guidance there.

Glad to hear you have a female escort if you're going to resort. As far as your colostomy and other particulars, here's how I see it as a man with non-divergent abilities (or whatever the appropriate term might be). 1) It's great to see a diverse group of visitors. 2) Are you able to navigate this place with the freedom you want? 3) Your poolside setup is different than mine and I hope it works 4) So what's a colostomy? (I understand but wouldn't know what to look for). Good luck!

    Thanks.

Colostomy is a pouch that attaches to addomin and stool goes into it. While some small portions may allow stool visible threw it. My belief is a wash cloth is enough to cover anything gross and its no difference than having a pouch.

The pool thing i figure i would just not get in unless i can find and get approved (for use)some type of adult swim diaper as to not leak urine in the water as id never disrespect anyone in that way.

I'd be content to be able to just be free outside even if i have to stay confined to my wheelchair or keep a diaper or something under me sitting else where otherwise.
But again don't know how well some of that may go over . I know i read on some resorts they make babies wear swim diapers when in the pool but didnt sound like they do else where. So maybe similar

I know several people at my resort/club have a colostomy bag and they do not cover it at all. They simply go about their lives and participate in activity like other people do. I hardly notice when I am interacting with them because I am not scrutinizing their bodies. Covering with a cloth may call more attention to it than is warranted.
Thank you. Really?
Thats interesting. One place i spoke with years ago suggested the cloth so no one can see stool and be grossed out. So i always thought out of respect it would be s good idea.
But i can also see it bringing more attention. But thought the colostomy its self would bring attention anyway.

I can only tell what I have observed in my experience. There are Al least three people who wear colostomy bags and interact openly without any issues. I have never had occasion to view anything that was unsightly. Now maybe they are very intentional about making sure the bag is clean when they are in public but I have never noticing anything but I am not looking at that either.

    Thank you.
Honestly that makes me feel alot better.
While mostly comfortable with and accept myself as I am I also know grew up in a family that went great lengths to keep such things private and thought of almost as a taboo. So cautious and a little nervous about how others may react or feel when everything is open for everyone to see. I'm also one who always try's to be respectful of others feelings / comfort even above my own.

It's great that you're thinking about all aspects, including having a friend come along to help out. Taking care of the physical issues is definitely important. Just make sure to prioritize your well-being and safety above all else. If you need any more advice or just want to talk it out, I'm here for you!
