It is true, what many folks in your situation forget is that NONE of us are perfect; and from what I have seen in my limited experience of group nudity (going into the 3rd session of my trial 4 sessions) people just accept you as you are.  There are folks at the club I go to who are very large and another who is disabled, I have heard no derogatory comments about anyone while I have been there.

My advice would be for you to get naked alone whenever you can (or with your brother if you are comfortable with that).
There is no rush, do not let anyone pressure you.  I began my naturism by sleeping naked.  I have read suggestions that one wasy of building up from this  is when you have your bath or shower dry yourself as normal, but just take a little bit longer each time before you get dressed.  You will eventually become okay with yourself nude and will know when you are ready to move up a gear.  Your confidence will build with time.

From little acorns big oak trees grow.

    Good Luck

There really is no one in this world who doesn't have a body issue of some kind.  Some will pay to fix it or change it, but the person who can live successfully and healthy in it, is in the best position.  I've been a nudist for over 20 years, seen and shared with all types, and never found someone being judgmental or rude about someone's physicality.  Confidence and comfort is not something most of us are born with.  It takes practice.

Genuine nudists don't usually judge. Genuine nudists don't usually compare body parts. It's not about seeing or being seen. It's about de-stressing, relaxing, and returning to innocence. It's about the freedom from clothing and the acceptance of yourself and others for who you are, how you act, and what you say rather than what you look like, own, or wear.

We need to realize there are no ugly bodies and that the body is just the vessel for the person.  The world would be boring if we all looked alike.

Body issues are nothing more than an imaginary handicap that some people impose upon themselves which prevents them from enjoying their lives. Your mind has created an obstacle which you are afraid to confront. If you ignore it, it will disappear. FDR was right, we have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Just try to enjoy your alone nude time for now.  Cross the other bridges when you get to them.

Your best mirror is someone else's face. When you "practice" being nude at home, don't keep checking yourself in the mirror. Just go about your business, same as if you were clothed. Because that's what you'll be doing in a social-nudist situation. And when youdohave a chance to try social nudism (your brother is a good idea) you'll quickly see that other people are responding to the same things they would if you all were clothed - what you do and say, the way you carry yourself, and the expression on your face. The nervousness will pass almost instantly.

Hey life is short.  Make yourself happy first.  When you get really comfortable being nude at home, you will know it. For Me it was when I could not wait to get back to the boat (liveaboard) and strip the cloths off and relax.  At that point you will want to junp in the pool with others.  Its all in your mind and how comfortable you are.  Nude,  everyone is the same, not > or < just =  Just people.

[/quote]You have done one great thing already, which is contemplating of becoming part of the naturist world. You will only have body issues, for as long as you are conscious about it. You are part of nature, as you are and only need to accept it. Your brother is right.
