Have you noticed how many TN members have no photo or have a profile that is only available to friends? I call them shy nudists. Are they worried about perves taking a look. There are plenty of other web sites for the pervs, full of naked glamour models. What I like about Truenudists is that we arereal peoplein all shapes and sizes. Yes there are some stunners and there's some like me - become saggy over time, more fat than fit and my only six-pack has beer in it. The naked body has inspired great artists from Michealangelo to Rodin. It is one of the best things in creation, to be celebrated (but maybe not always with as much evangelical zeal as PIPearl4Christ). Let's not hide away. If you do Life Drawing you get to study a similar "real person" at length and in detail. It's the proportions, the muscel tones and especially the face that need the attention. The sexy bits are easy. If all models were the same shape Life Drawing would be boring. If all people are the same life becomes boaring. I for one don't go streaking or wandering around the village in the nude. I respect other people's right not to have my nakedness thrust in their face. But if someone wants to look at a bewiskered pensioner, I'm happy for them to find just what they are looing for. Is that the right ballance, I don't know. We are all different, which is part of the appeal. So theres the curious, the extravert, the dedicated and the shy. Its great to have shy nudists on board. Good on yer mate! Maybe, the shyness fill fade over time. Go on tell me someone said this all before, or get angry and argue with me.

A good point. I think a lot of people are worried if non-nudist friends or work collegues find out they are nudists and recognise them. I know a bit illogical. TN has a feature that allows you to have only your friends see your pictures but then I think you should be prepared to make more friends once you've checked out the profile from a requesting person.

Nicely put welsh_nude! We each have individual situations and personalities that dictate what we choose to do. For anyone in a relationship there is also another person's preferences to consider.

Have I opened a can of worms? I see fairly strong views have been expressed on both sides - and they areallright. I remember some years ago, when reaching something from the top cupboard near the bedroom window, an irate passer-by shouted for me to "put some clothes on or draw the curtains".I hid. I should have asked him why he was pearing into my bedroom window. For those of us woried about being "outed" by workmates, friends or fellow church goers - think - it says a lot about the person doing the outing. They had to look fairly hard to find you. So, why were they looking. To put it another way, who was the rogue - Lady Godiver or Peeping Tom. Having said this I realise the concerns are very real. In gardening we nurture and protect our seedlings in the hope we can enjoy thier beuty when they are fully grown and in bloom. There is inner beuty as well as that which is skin deep. I have noticed there is a group for Shy Nudists, and one for Naked Outside/in Public. There isn't one called "Show me yours and I'll Show You Mine". By the way welsh_nude I have a book of photos of iced cakes from when we did wedding and celebration cakes - how sad can I get? Olly

As a nudist I have no problem with people seeing me nude but I am not an exhibitionist and have no desire to comply with the wishes of anyone that wants me to become one for their pleasure

Agreed. Veriety is the spice of life and nobody should be made to do somthing they don't feel comfortable with. You explain the feelings of what I called "shy nudists" very well. There is another level of potential insecurity - those who have photos up and don't want them viewed by others on the site that they feel may not be such commited nudists. I've seen quite a few profiles saying as much. Shall we call them the "show me yours and I'll show you mine" group.  The great thing is there is room for both sorts and everything in between. And we get along fine. Incidentally I think the Certifying process is also to check that, when photos are shown, they are of the person(s) themselves - a sort of ID check.

Also as the certification process is free and only the administrator sees the photos; I do not really understand folks reluctance to go through it.   Still it is all about freedom of choice

Just a thought - for the admin if your'e reading this.... When there isn't a picture, shouldn/t the caption read "sorry no picture" . If you follow the present caption and ask for a picture you can offend the other party.

The trouble with a private profile is that it leaves everyone guessing and curious. You would probably get more friend requests than someone with a visable profile. Here is a seosonal pic for anyone who isn,t shy.

It can mean thousands of dollars.  If a small town physician is found to be a nudist, his practice may well dry up and he run out of town.  There are all kinds of being descrete.  There is keeping ones mouth shut in an unsavory political conversation.  There is "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything".  They are all undesireable in some ways but necessary to comfortable living.
Some naturists enjoy the nudity but can't afford to flaunt it publically.  Let us not condem them for their caution.  Let us encourage them for going as far as they can iin THEIR situation.  Not all naturists are activists.  We HAVE heard of the silent majority...Let us live with the silent naturists.

I agree too. It is a dificult decision and it's yours (and only yours) to make, without any critisism. By the way, have you noticed Groups for "Exibitionists" and people who like to be nude in public etc in which quite a few members make the same decision.

I think you will find that the people who make payments to the site and the folks with fake profiles are two entirley separate groups.

It would mean alot of work, and the admin staff would have to be increased; but I would be in favour of relaunching the certified programme making it mandatory.  Also having the clothed photo locked into the profile by admin as and ID check.  At the moment we have no proof that the person who is depicted in the gallery is the same person that got the cert.  Although that is an unlikely scenario.
In a not unrelated situation, have you noticed how many fake profiles there are on here?  I think that all pictures submitted should be subject to the site whereby they can be checked to see if they turn up anywhere else.

That would be an enormous admin task. There are also some TrueNudist couples who are each here as seperate identities and have pictures of each other. Others have thier own pictures of their friends. Is that fake? I agree it can be a bit misleading if the Profile picture is of someone else, but it does not take long to check it against the text or the other pictures. So, what's the hasstle? I say Live and let live.
