Any recent reviews on Caliente in Dominican Republic

We are still undetermined for vacation destination this winter.  Caribbean is what we can come up with. We were looking with interest towards Caliente Dominican Republic. I ran across a pretty bad review last week. The resort cancelled with little notice costing the guy what he said was $500.00 with him cancelling flights and deposits.  Other reviews were the place is dated and need of repair.

I realize there will usually be a bad review from most every place so I thought I'd ask TN members if they knew anything.

    Trip Advisor has the resort as closed.  If you go to Caliente's www, you can only make a reservation for Florida.  Maybe someone else can confirm.

    I thought I had seen someone else also mention them closing here in the forums as well.

    [/quote]There's always Club Orient... The beach can't possibly get more crowded than it was this February. That was a perfect storm event -- I wish I had thought to take a picture of the beach that day.
