is it possible to choose the gender  of a child ie if you want to get aboy or a girl?

    Depends on money, and moral convictions.
    There are many old wive's tales about things that are rumored to have a slight affect, but they all basically don't work any better than random chance.
    What does work, is expensive, and in the moral convictions of many, questionable at best.
    That being, to medically harvest a number of eggs, and sperm.
    Create several children in a petrie dish, and kill off the ones you don't want.
