Please share a time when you were uncomfortable with nudity? Did you get over it , or did it cause you to get naked less often?

Bryan PackardJun 18, 2024The very first time I got nude with another man and he started sucking my penis without my permission. I felt uncomfortable around him naked.

BlueJun 19, 2024I was always body shy. Was a late bloomer and it just made me feel awkward. In my late 20s, I decided enough was enough and decided to dive in and go to a nude beach. I loved the sensation of the air and sun all over and just embraced it. Plus nobody else there seemed too shy no matter what their shape or size. Nudism has radically improved my confidence and self image to the point I even explored sittings for art classes and nude photo shoots. So glad I decided to get over it.

I had severe acne as a teen and one of the standard treatments in those days was exposure to the sun. I had no problem being naked in the locker room, but I was a bit on the pudgy side, and had more breast than I felt comfortable exposing. My dad was constantly on me for being outside with a shirt on which probably increased my anxiety.
In college swim class, we swam nude, and a summer job on a road construction project had me in the sun all day nearly every day. We were allowed to go shirtless, which I did. The acne was less of a problem as was being nude among others. Skinny dipping became high on my list and I spent more time at home sans clothes. I have been naked among the clothed with no inhibitions or discomfort and would love more opportunity to be nude in nature.ReactReply - EC
ecurbausJun 20, 2024I was a body shy teenager, being skinny in an all-male school culture that valued the rugby player build. Despite the Summer heat here, I would rarely be shirtless. It wasnt until in my early twenties when I spent a couple of months in Europe, sometimes staying in hostels with varying degrees of bathroom privacy and including one night in an off-season nudist campground, that I began to question my need to be covered up. Still didnt change much until an even longer stay in Europe at even more hostels with limited privacy in my mid 20s. Started visiting nude beaches after that, but not often as decades later there are still no legal nude beaches in my state.

He would sun in a very brief swimsuit. One day I stopped over and saw him sunning in his brief swimsuit, He was embarrassed and annoyed when I saw him. I don't know why because men were much more likely to wear swim briefs then (late 80's) than they are now.ReactReply - ST
SteveJun 20, 2024Only the first visit (alone) to a clothing-optional beach. I walked the length of it at first with my swim brief on and my towel under my arm. I decided the best approach was to strip and just go straight into the water for a dip. By the time I'd had enough of the water I was confident enough to emerge and walk the length of the beach and back to dry off. No problem. Apart from that it's been fine.

BillJun 20, 2024In the below quote, there's a lack of communication going on if two people are sharing time bare and one of them mistakenly begins to engage the other orally without at least a quick question first. It sounds as though one of those two mouths could have been giving the wrong signal to the owner of the other. Not realizing that someone is about to bend over and begin fellatio might have a tendency to ruin any naked moment. This is essentially a sexual assault which could have been avoided with nothing more than a little physical distance. Nudity does come with some inherent risks. There is a need to take seriously the fact that with the lack of any physical barrier (aka clothes) to slow it down, there is no easy way to keep someone from engaging in overt, unwanted contact in a split second. A body-breadth apart might be a good idea in the future when dabbling in bareness with unknown characters. I was in the hot tub in the male locker room of a hotel. Most, if not all of the men in the tub were nude. The man sitting across from me kept touching my foot and ankle with his toes. At first I thought it was incidental contact, but after a while he started obviously working his way up my leg, At that point I got out, He got out too and asked if I wanted to come up to his room with him. I refused and he didn't pursue it further. Nothing overtly sexual happened, but this is an example of how some people erroneously assume that being nude together is an implied invitation for sexual contact.ReactReply - PA
Please askJun 21, 2024
... some people erroneously assume that being nude together is an implied invitation for sexual contact.
From my observations, this is the single biggest problem we face as nudists. Sexual predators will take advantage of the vulnerability presented without a clothes barrier. Separating nudity and sex is key.ReactReply - MEMemberJun 21, 2024
... some people erroneously assume that being nude together is an implied invitation for sexual contact. Stone AndyJun 23, 2024I'm rather pale and find it easier to throw on a shirt than sunscreen. I feel vulnerable when mosquitoes think my butt is sweet, but so far no bites on my penis. Whether I intimidate them with its gravitas or if it's too small and hairy for them to find remains their secret. Nonetheless, I get over it.

I take vitamin B1 w/ Thiamine everyday so they leave me alone. Take a couple of weeks to get in your system, but definitely worth it.ReactReply - TD

A few years ago, I was outdoors for most of Memorial Day weekend and wore mostly white t shirts and put SPF 50 on my arms and face. By Monday evening, I had a reverse farmer's tan!ReactReply - JO

Separating nudity and sex is key.
The only time I felt uncomfortable about being naked was when I accompanied a gay acquaintance to meet another man. They obviously wanted to introduce me to homosexuality, and I accepted their invitation to get nude with them. But when they actually started making out, I was seized by a panic attack that came out of nowhere. They were very good about not pressing the issue. I realized later that I was flashing back to an episode where I was molested by an older boy when I was seven or eight years old. That was the difference between that naked occurrence and earlier ones that had no sexual context, like communal bathing or FKK events. Fortunately, I was able to disconnect that awkwardness from any animosity I might have had with people who were gay. But it gave me an insight about why many women are so reluctant to shed their clothes. It certainly increases the vulnerability factor, and if they had any baggage to bring to the experience, it makes it far harder, because women are much more susceptible to having that baggage, in the form of men making unwanted advances on them or seeing them as sex objects, than men are.ReactReply - TR

The key is the right kind of shirt, which definitely is not a white T shirt, but something specifically designed to block out UV.ReactReply - TD

JohnJun 28, 2024
I just googled thiamine, hopeful there was something to it as a mosquito repellent, and unfortunately it has been disproven.
The best mosquito control I've found is a product called ThermoCell. They come in various styles, including a lantern. They also chase away the biting flies. It does have to be very calm wind-wise for it to be effective. My first time visiting a clothing optional facility was initially a little nerve wracking. I had called a nudist club that was about an hour plus away for an orientation type visit. The gentleman on the phone told me he & others would be there just to help with first visit jitters. I found the place out in the woods, down the obligatory two path dirt road and parked in a small clearing. There were a few cars there and another man walking back towards the woods. I asked about any facilities & he gave me a *are you an idiot* look, and pointed at the open area, shrugged and kept walking. That was a little disconcerting to say the least. Anyway, I removed my clothing & started walking towards the back. There were nice folks back there and the rest of my visit went well. Thankfully, I never saw Mr Congeniality again.

I was circumcised at a young age due to a tight foreskin. Growing up through school i hated feeling different and knowing what other boys were like i was always uncomfortable showering after p.e etc... When i did discover i loved the feeling of being naked i spent many years just being naked home alone. Aged 18 i started to relax getting undressed at the swimming pool changing rooms and being seen by others. That gave me the confidence to extend my social side with other naturists. Never looked back

JimJul 4, 2024Well we had some nudist friends over to the house and we went out to the backyard. I started a fire going in the fire pit. We were standing around it enjoying the warmth of the fire. Well I never expected the neighbors to come over. I had invited them earlier in the day, well they came over.
Sad that our friends decided to put their clothes on and leave. We could have taught the neighbors to be nudists. Well I even felt weird being the only one nude so I even put my clothes back on.
