About friendsafire
Both: Music, art, literature, reading, writing, movies (old B&W, modern anime), good coffee and conversation He: painting in oils, model trains, political and philosophical blogs She: altered books, quilting, dog training, general sewing, costume sewing, rubber stamping (as a part of altering/collage)
Both have been performing musicians, although it was long ago. He played bass (the electric kind) and she was a semi-professional symphonic violist. As to genre: Anything but rap and C&W. He prefers jazz (before the fusion), western and Indian classical, some rock from the old days. She likes selected rock (also from the bad old days), ambient, some New Age, Indian sitar, Chinese traditional, and western classical. Not in the same vein, but we both are fluid in Firesign Theatre.
We don't always see eye to eye about movies, and sometimes we're diametrically opposed. She likes to dissect the acting and costuming, he picks at the special effects and plot inconsistencies. However, that being said... Comedies (MST3K, W.C. Fields, Marx Brothers, Jacque Tati...), science fiction, classic films from the 30s and 40s, mysteries, international films (you'd be surprised how much better French comedy is than French drama)
He: She: my husband, Eleanor Roosevelt, my late parents
