The chores are a great distraction to keep my nerves at bay. The soft hum of the news rolls on repeat on the TV. The sounds of the kids rambunctious bath up stairs, and scent of a baking blueberry pie are also good distractions from my many thoughts. Checking that the doors are locked for the night, then finding myself checking to see if windows lock as well. Making sure the girls' school bags are ready at the door, as I know how they like to sleep in till last moment. No way will I have them ride the school bus come morning, but maybe in time I will gain more confidence for them, and for this world of ours. Deciding to call it an early night. I soon head to bed, once the home is dark and quiet. Quickly I drift into dreams of the world that will be, and the world that once was... JULY 1 2015 7:03 AM (7 Hours after ordinance KS388.876.B becomes law) I awaken to the sound of cartoons downstairs and the sunlight peeking past the blinds. Not had a solid 10 hour sleep in ages, and feel rested, revived and reborn of sorts. I notice my kindergartner has not forgotten the world's new clothing ordinances. Yet my oldest is still in textiles of the past. Hello Kitty even. I pray that my nudity will be all she needs to be her reminder of what's now expected of her. I finish packing the girls' lunches, and double-checking their spelling homework. Soon I find myself peeking out the windows at our new world. Not much to see in our suburban neighborhood at such an early hour. "It's time we get going to school, girls," I shout, and head to the garage. My care bares climb in the car with out a hint of shyness and I'm so proud. What will this day have in store for me? What will this day have in store for us all? [Public Ordinance KS388.876.B] Under the protections and guidance in the great state of Kansas, it has become law of the land, that all public civilian has a God Given Right to be undressed in all public manor/location/time of day.
