One confused aussie member

I love this site its a wonderful friendly place and a lot of truley great people from all over the world, what confuses me so much is why people from my own country are so stand offish and when you send a message the proper way , never hear from them , where as people from other parts of the world are so open and friendly and always prepared to say hello or send a message saying hi, are we so backward down here? its certainly got me scratching my head , but im am just happy to have a lot of friends who do say hello and chat and message from time to time , makes up for it thats for sure , well hope everyone stays safe and well and look forward to saying hello soon.
