Another great hike completed. For all of you all, who were interested in the hike but could not make it. This is an overview of the hike...I have posted more photo & videos on my other blog www.vince2021.blogspot.com That's the second time I did it. Worth the efforts indeed... Beautiful scenery, wonderful wildlife,...as the hike start at first lights, you can witness Nature waking up...the birds singing is the main event as they all sing their own song, creating the most beautiful experience as you walk naked in the woods, with the soft noise of the small creek nearby....as you progress the vegetation changes, you if you don't have hay fever, you can then enjoy beautiful plants & flowers along the way. While you began your walk on a wide flat dirt road, the fire trail, will soon turn into a hilly trail with several heavy gates to keep vehicles of all sort away. The terrain become more of small lose stones and keeping your footy will become a challenge...I recommend high cut hiking shoes as they will help avoid twisted ankles, which in the middle of nowhere in the lower blue mountains, will make the difference between enjoying your day, and experiencing hell to get back to the starting point. Other hazards you will encounter, may includes wild life, kangaroos ( for the large ones, stop, if they still don't move out of your way, squat slowly and wait), snakes ( most will move away but on cold mornings, you may encounter one coiled on the path...just keep your distance when passing it - remember if bitten...apply first aid, don't move, call for help...trigger your PLB...the good news is that 80% of bites by ADULT snakes are dry, meaning no venom is injected...but always treat any bite as a real one!), trip, slip & falls, watch out when enjoy the view from a cliff, watch out where you step...it is easy to be distracted by the beauty of mother nature and end up face down in the dust...I learned the hardway...also when skinny dipping watch where you step, the depth and like presently the water is freezing only a couple of degrees Celcius above zero, so enter slowly to avoid potential shock, specially if you are hot & sweating, rock & trees / branches falling are another hazard specially on a windy day...in Australia trees breaks so easily...you don't want to get a branch on your head!...well the list goes on and on...the motto...be aware of your surroundings and enjoy Nature....One last thing...what you bring there ,You must take it with you...leave your foot print only!
