Long solo nude hikes in remote locations are beautiful experience. It is about physical endurence as much as mental strength....walking dozens of kms in the wilderness well away from the nearest town, the nearest house for hours on, knowing you are on your own, and that you only have yourself to count on to get you out of occuring situation is exhilarating. It required to be in good physical condition, it require to think about what may occurs and what may be needed, it require discipline, situation awareness, a sense of adventure, a will to persevere and achieve your goal but also it require common sense and knowledge when to call it a quit should conditions warrant it! The rewards of hiking in such a way are many and varies from people to people. For me it is about the freedom I experience, I am nude, I am not conforming to any rules, I feel free, I feel happy, I am and I feel responsible, I truly feel I belong to Nature, what I mean is that when I hike naked in remote areas I feel in communion with Nature, I feel I am part of Nature, being an animal among it, it is humbling, it is comforting, it brings me peace, get my worries away, allow me to think more clearly. Of course it is not all roses, accidents happen...a twisted ankle, a trip & fall, slide (with many possible injuries), an encounter with an upset wildlife ( kangaroo), the risk of dealy bites from various insects and snakes, hypothermia, hyperthermia, sunburns, shaffing... In fact many things can come to darken your mood when hiking naked in remote location. The solution is being aware of them, and while many books and videos will talk about those hazards, only experience will really help you prepare for most eventualities. By example, I hike for years, yet on my last 30 kms hike on 02 Jan 24, I ended up with two painful black toenails by the end of it! Why? because when I cannot cross a creek without getting wet, I remove my shoes. In that case I did not tie my shoes thight enough...a rookie mistake, ...I am not sure why? distrated?!..I am not sure why I didn't notice till i started feel the pain, by which time it was too late...the badge of honour of a good hiker had marked my toes...painful and black, gorged with blood due to the trauma of walking with lose shoes and having the tip of my two toes hitting the top of my shoe....only my right foot was affected...the pain came very suddenly, about 8 kms before returning to my car...it became really bad very quickly, but I was ready, I always carry pain killers and got myself some nurofen and panadol...sat for 20 minutes, had a snack waiting for the meds to kick on....then I resumed and finished my hike... This is just one of the mishaps I encounter....another one was during the same hike when after exploring a dry creek bed for about 2 kms, I decided to climb a steep hill to take a panoramic photo...going up was challenging as there was no clear path and the vegetation was overgrown, none the less I soldier on and kept going, ...until I saw one huge, about 2+ m long eastern brown slithering away just a meter from me! Surprised I was indeed! They are usually shy and will disappear even before you can notice them...well this one did not, I guess we both got scared, he went his way...I jumped backward, losing my footing, ending up with my left knee on a granite bolder...not a pleasant experience and nasty bruise and bleeding scratch...nothing dramatic, but it show that no matter how well you are prepared or how well you are experienced...accident/injury can happen! The trick is to remain calm, analyse, get the best remedy to that situation and decide to keep going, turn back or in worth case activate your personal locator beacon for emergency crew to rescue you ( last resort). Having said all this...solo nude hikes are really rewarding...
