"For years, Ive heard buzz about how sleeping naked can help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer, leading to other health benefits. Its been something people have proudly identified with being a sleep nudist. However, a video a doctor recently made warning people against the practice is making its rounds, as it shares the-not-so pretty side of sleeping naked."sleepopolis.com/blog/should-you-sleep-in-the-nude-heres-the-naked-truth/
... as it shares the-not-so pretty side of sleeping naked.
Is this still a good idea? Maybe, we should abandon the practice. What do you think?

The Pros far out weigh the Cons. As the article says, just wash your sheets more often.

I started sleeping nude long before I became a nudist.

You're sleeping in fabric, you get to decide how many layers based on comfort, and it would be a good idea to wash it, whether it's fitted to your body or spread out across the bed. Personally, when I stir in bed I'd prefer to roll onto a fresh patch of sheet rather than pull pajamas along with me.

I always sleep nude, just can't imagine sleeping with pajamas on in bed.
Bullshit opinion in my medical opinion! Hickguy M.D.
I agree with Hickguy. I have been sleeping naked for years and have had no side effects unless diabetes is a symptom. If so all my siblings have been sleeping naked too!

For those who sleep with pyjamas, how often do you wash them? I just have a regular sheet washing day and end up with lovely crisp sheets to sleep in. Yes, I do have a deeper sleep and don't wake up during the night with the pyjamas knotted around my waist or neck. So much more comfortable sleeping nude.

I haven't used pj's since I was 10 and only own them to be more presentable away from home.
Healthy laundering is of course important. I become increasingly sensitive to the perfumes and additives in most detergents. It's not like I get a rash, but rather feel like olfactory abuse. So I mix my own detergent without any scents, which also saves money.

Just to add, I am a very hygiene conscious. Possibly to the point of being OCD. I couldn't live or stay anywhere without a shower, preferably one with a detachable head to ensure everything is as clean as it can be, so wherever I am nude in my home during the day or asleep in bed there are no concerns at all.

I usually sleep only in underwear and have nothing problems with it. Sometimes I sleep completely naked and I'm OK
I was always told that pyjamas were something newlyweds kept under their pillows in case of fire.
I just keep a pair of shorts on the night stand.

According to the article, would you be willing to consider wearing underwear, only underwear, as a compromise?

I agree, sleeping nude is more comfortable and I have never had any ill side effects from it. And if you are sharing the bed with another person, it is very normal to cuddle or be back-to-back. Besides, if that person and you are intimate, sleeping nude can become a gentle way for a midnight 'snack'.

Started sleeping nude long before I became a nudist. You don't ware bed sheets underneath your day clothes, so why would you ware clothing under the bed sheets.

No way could I sleep in clothes again. Unless I am sick and need the warmth or something to get over the Fever sweats. But other than that no way. I dont even think my wife would wear clothes to bed anymore.

The article isn't anti-nude sleeping, except for the one doc who's concerned about expelling fecal matter with gas (how rigorous is the research on this, anyway? I expel gas all day long and I'm not encountering fecal matter in my boxer briefs). But then, I'm not sharing a bed with anyone.

The main criteria should be around sleep quality:

    1) If you're nervous about being exposed in an emergency, then by all means, wear something to bed. If you're not (like me), then go naked.
    2) If you dislike getting tangled in underwear or PJs every time you turn over in bed, then go naked (me for sure).
    3) If you feel uncomfortable going to sleep exposed, then cover up without dressing up. This applies to me, I don't sleep comfortably without a sheet or blanket. I prefer the feeling of a covering.
    4) If it seems like an inconvenience to get dressed to go to bed when you've been naked all evening, then just go to bed naked.

I agree with replies above, that we should all assess our sleep quality, and base our choice on that.

I had started swimming nude just before I went to bed and I decided not to put anything on. From there I progressed quickly to taking off what I was wearing on evenings I didn't swim. Since my wife likes it to change into sleepwear shortly after dinner, I soon started doing so to, but my sleepwear was my wedding ring and nothing else.

Even if you're not getting tangled, giving your body a rest from being constrained by clothing is nice.
