Cell Phone use at a Nudist resort — Conduct and Etiquette on True Nudists

At my local club there is a ban on Cell Phones around the park, and the practice is well policed.
I visited Cypress Cove in Florida and read the notice on cell phones. They allow them as long as you keep them out of sight as much as is practical and only photograph nudists with their permission. I saw many younger nudists taking the opportunity to text, then promptly put the phone down.
Cameras are typically banned at resorts, so it follows that a cell phone with a camera is essentially the same. However there is a big difference. Cameras are made to take photos and videos only, cell phones have many uses including a camera. Using a camera means only one thing; a photo is going to be taken. With a cell phone calls or text are two reasons they get used.
It was refreshing to see cells being used occasionally with no signs of abuse. The youth of today can't live very long without being in contact wit their friends. Clubs will perish if they make attending the club difficult due to the cell phone bans. Cypress had a good number of younger nudists, the above 40's still predominated, but there were a lot more young nudists than I am used to seeing.
I think the common sense approach to Cell Phones is a good idea for the sake of the resort and its members.

I like the idea of resorts amending their policies concerning cameras and cell phones. I've been to many places and have met many friends but have little tangible evidence of those experiences. It'd be wonderful to have a visual record of these events. I believe the resorts should join the 21st century.

I would think that most people obey the rules at the resorts. There is always one bad apple. And if you are attending a resort you should also realize that possibility. The the responsibility lies on each side. Funny too is you will see on different forums many people who complain about the subject of cameras have pics of themselves posted. Im not condoning that picture taking is ok at a resort but common sense should be considered.

I've done that over the years or take a photo at the entrance.

Having grown up without the access everywhere/all the time internet I can live without it for the few hours I'm relaxing at the beach or at a resort.

It's not a problem for either of us, but I doubt it would be the same for younger naturists who seem to be constantly using phones.
They have evolved to be constantly interacting on social networks with their friends. I don't have a problem with it, I do with my friends too. (just not every five mins) Resorts that ban phones will have major problem with attracting younger people.

Those are really the ones we want to remember.

In the 60's and 70's I had many lovers. I remember what each and everyone of those ladies looked like. I do not need photographs stashed in a box to remember them.

The resort we go to is clothing optional and the only place you must be nude is in the pool, so the only place you can't have your phone is in the pool area. But this doesn't bother us and we are still nude every where at the resort and have just come to the understanding that we could be the subject of a others cell phone. I look at it like this if I was afraid of someone seeing me nude I wouldn't go there. Have we seen people who may have snapped pics of of walking around? Yes! Did it offend us? Not really. I have been to nude beaches where people were blatant about taking pics of nudist and that didn't bother me either. I have also had people ask to take our picture while we were nude and allowed them and never had an issue with it

I've been to resorts with a novel solution... no cell coverage at Abbott's Glen, VT (and they are up front about it on their website). This week I was at Mountain Air Ranch, CO and I walked from the pool area to the parking lot to use my phone and no signal. Although someone else was in the parking lot talking on their phone, so either they have a satellite phone, or it is only AT&T with bad coverage at MAR!

About 15--20 years ago, I was a "biker" (lost the bike in a wreck, haven't yet had opportunity to replace it...) and attended quite a few weekend-long campground-based fund-raising party events that had plenty of flashing, skinny-dipping, and nude bike riding.
And cameras to document it all.
Did any of us care? Heck no.
If not for the shoe-box full of 3 x 5 glossies on the top shelf of my closet, I wouldn't be able to recall today how much fun I had back then!

There is a great deal of concern in the nudist community about being photographed while nude by strangers. Many seem to fear dire results if their proclivity for nude recreation were to become known. It is probable that there are a few instances of nudists being ostracized for pursuing their preferred lifestyle, but I believe that it is quite rare. On other Internet nudist forums during similar discussions I have asked those with actual knowledge of such cases to describe the situation, but so far no one seems to have any specific examples.

What is everyone so afraid of? If you claim you're not ashamed of, or embarrassed about, your involvement in nude recreation then why act like you are? When so many of us pretend we're uninvolved in nude recreation those who oppose our lifestyle, and probably the rest of the general public as well, assume we are a tiny minority whose rights can be ignored.

Look, for example, at the gay rights struggle. Until relatively recently our LGBT friends and neighbors tried to keep low profiles and most hid their sexual identities, but to end the discrimination they often encountered they "came out of the closet" and demanded that their issues be addressed. A recent poll reveals that less than 3% of the population identifies themselves as belonging to the LGBT community, so this revolution was brought about by a very small minority. Several years ago there was a poll that revealed that 24% of the adult population has participated in nude recreation at least once. With numbers like that we should have a much more nudist-friendly society, but our failure to assert our rights condemns us to less than second class citizenship. We don't have to sit in the back of the bus because we aren't even allowed to get on the bus.

[/quote]I don't think you fully understand - this is not about being embarrassed, it is not about being ashamed.
This is about being circumspect until nudity is accepted by the mainstream populace. It is about not rubbing my personal preference for nudity in the noses of those it offends. More so it it is about not having someone else, accidentally or maliciously, 'outing' me!

We don't allow visitors (not members) to take photos, but they can ask one of management to take a group photo or go to a sparsely populated area to take photos. Our members are allowed to take photos with permission of the subjects.

Not about, not following the rules - the younger generation is looking for more than 'connectivity' at their club - sadly they don't seem to have the funds to pay for it.

Visitors are those who have not yet been vetted through the Registries that list the perpetrators or alleged perpetrators. I don't take chances when it comes to children. I also said it's okay with the subjects. We have only 7 acres, and there's a privacy fence about 1/3 of it. This coming weekend, we are taking reservations and asking what clubs, beaches, resorts you've visited and getting a copy of drivers' license from those we've never before met unless they're friends of member.

The policy at our local camp is not in common areas. You can have it at your campsite or friends or members sites if they approve.
You must also sign a release upon entrance to the camp. You must forfeit your device and be banned from camp, if the rules are not followed. There is a camp photographer to take pictures with verbal permission of adults. Written permission of parent or guardian for minors.
