Aug 5, 2014At my local club there is a ban on Cell Phones around the park, and the practice is well policed.
I visited Cypress Cove in Florida and read the notice on cell phones. They allow them as long as you keep them out of sight as much as is practical and only photograph nudists with their permission. I saw many younger nudists taking the opportunity to text, then promptly put the phone down.
Cameras are typically banned at resorts, so it follows that a cell phone with a camera is essentially the same. However there is a big difference. Cameras are made to take photos and videos only, cell phones have many uses including a camera. Using a camera means only one thing; a photo is going to be taken. With a cell phone calls or text are two reasons they get used.
It was refreshing to see cells being used occasionally with no signs of abuse. The youth of today can't live very long without being in contact wit their friends. Clubs will perish if they make attending the club difficult due to the cell phone bans. Cypress had a good number of younger nudists, the above 40's still predominated, but there were a lot more young nudists than I am used to seeing.
I think the common sense approach to Cell Phones is a good idea for the sake of the resort and its members.

[/quote]The chances of someone taking my photo without permission on the beach are slim, at a resort due to no-photo rules slimmer, and in my garden slimmer still. But if the rules on resort photography were to change then I believe that most of us would sooner or later appear on websites, unwanted.
As a nudist I am not ashamed by our choice to live as clothes free as is possible, but would be embarrassed by having this fact being known by others around me. An embarrassment in financial terms. How many nudists out there would not feel the same way if their livelihood depended upon how their neighbours, customers, suppliers, co-workers and piers perceived them?
All my photos with other nudists are taken with their permission and posted here with their knowledge (of this site) and again permission.Yes displaying our photos here shows an amount of trust in the website and the majority of users. And with supposedly 220K users I trust I can hide in 'herd anonymity'. Having my photos taken and published in a nudist magazine were not a problem as the circulation was relatively small.It is not the taking of photos but rather what is done with them, don't you think?
Lastly, there are many profiles here who appear to believe nudism is a by-word for so called freedom. Nudism is only about freedom from clothing. I hope this, in a small way explains how I and many other nudists feel about the creeping movement to have photography (without implicit permission) made acceptable.ReactReply - CD

We have WiFi all over public areas. If we were across the street, we couldn't get it. AT&T, even though the tower is only a mile from us, doesn't have reception here because the tower isn't in the right direction. Verizon gets it. That and U-verse, we're fine.ReactReply - J.

That and U-verse, we're fine.[/quote]Wifi seems to be gaining traction at nudist venues. Of the resorts we visit Club Orient, Laguna Del Sol and Abbott's Glen all have wifi throughout their grounds. My wifi devices are my iPhone and my iPad and my wife's laptop. All three have cameras on them, so these three locations are by default loosening their bans on cameras. I do have a case for my iPad with the rear camera hole covered with duct tape, so that others won't feel threatened by the camera. But I haven't gotten any comments, even from people far enough away that they wouldn't notice the taped-over camera lens.ReactReply - NU

And some are more connected than others Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc and all of these in real time. Our youth and many of us 'oldsters' are connected to our net identities much of the day.

As for safety? As I said, I try to hide in the crowd. And yes anyone looking can find me in the 'nudist net' - but you have to go looking. I suspect that writing here, raises my profile, and in the long run erodes my anonymity, but that is a choice I make to further nudist moderacy and ideals. JonathanSep 7, 2014I love my phone as much as the next person, and i have never been to a resort/beach/clothes optional area before...but i can definitely understand the reason for said bans. Just about every phone made these days have cameras, and most have internet access. These things in the hands on someone with less than noble intentions could reek havoc in a group. This could potentially even cause legal trouble for attendees, and the park/lodge/etc itself. They are just trying to protect themselves, and the legitimate attendees.ReactReply
