As adults, we all know about sitting on a towel. nothing new... but what about kids?
We have very young kids and they aren't quite nudist yet... or they don't know that they are nudists.... anyways, what do you do when raising kids and sitting on towels? to me... I think it would look kind of silly to place a towel on the belted swing for my kids to sit and let their old-man pushs them on the swin set. Or sliding down the home-made water slide... Or sitting on the deck steep eating watermelon...
we would love to hear the views of other parents and how their kids sit on a towel? Personally, I don't think it happens?
Bill and his wife Missy with the broken broom.... OUCH the back of my head hurts.
I think you lot have been watching FAR too many episodes of Mr Monk!Germs were on the chairs, on the door handles, and on the carpet, yesterday, and the day before and even last year! There are MORE germs on your chopping board, than there is on your toilet seat! GET OVER IT! ...
As usual, you make sense, and are of course, right. Probably the most unhealthy thing we do, ( those of us that do ) is use the hot tub. Now, that's THE ideal environment for breeding and sharing some of the most dangerous and deadly germs anywhere. Too many people get a little too carried away over details. For me, my imune system is strong enough I'm not at all worried or concerned about picking something up from a plastic beach chair. More getting burnt from the hot plastic sitting in the sun. And I KNOW my hygenic practices are NOT going to leave anything there, either. Still, some things only take ONCE, so it's cheap insurance to just always sit on something that is mine. Upholstered furniture is another story. Again, it only takes ONCE for most anything to happen, and become non-recoverable. Towels are easily disposed of and replaced, if necessary, and FAR easier to launder than an upholstered couch. At home, that's enough for me. By always using a towel at any nudist resort or function, one shows that one does care enough about oneself, and others, consideration for others and oneself, by merely observing established rules of etiquite. That alone is a good enough reason for me.  By NOT using a towel, one shows one of two things. One is that one is SO new, as to be their first visit anywhere, having done zero background research, as someone will surely fill them in VERY quickly. Two, is a total lack of consideration for etiquite, accepted practice, and concern for others. An incredibly self-centered and uncaring core personality. A label I'd never wish to wear under any circumstances.

It's DANGEROUS!Mr Monk is a character (An eccentric, loveable and extremely clever private detective) in an American TV series, who helps the police solve murders, but he is totally paranoid about touching anything.Nice to see you back on the boards Tom.

( to the best of my knowledge )  (( "older" "younger" being relative. both over 50, but still younger than I. ))

( you and he have excellent taste in wardrobe, by the way ) Since we start with that much in common............ I'm just trying to figure out a stylish way to carry/wear that towel when I'd prefer nothing at all.....

Maybe you could find a towel that could be hooked onto a belt. Then you could wear only the belt and have the towel attached. If you like to carry other things around, maybe you could wear something like a tool belt, only with things like bug repellant and tanning lotion instead of a hammer and screwdriver.

Still didn't *really* like it. Started making towels with intigrated pockets, so that at least the ONLY thing that need be carried at all is the towel. It then contains bug spray, reading glasses, newspaper, money, reading glasses, whatever. All last year, I managed to sell exactly one, at $25 which is not high compared to any decent beach towel. Tried to liquidate my samples at $12 ( which is below cost ) and couldn't sell those, either. So, I do carry one of mine, with bug spray, sun screen, cell phone when on the trails and other places where I may be totally alone, just in case a call for help becomes required. Made a shoulder sling, since I hated the belt, and that works OK but I'd still *prefer* nothing at all.  To me, nude is nude, not merely without trousers as seems to be more the case among the folks at the few resorts I've visited. SO, I ( for me ) just carry one of my towels with all my junk in the pockets, rolled into a tight little ball, as it's the best I can do, and so it's immediately available for whatever reason as may be needed.
There is a reason for using a towel that has nothing to do with etiquette or hygiene:OUCH!
I once went in a sauna without a towel and sat on a nail.  Never forgot my towel after that.

Never lean against a black car that's been parked in the sun for several hours.

You never know what you might pick up off of a surface.  Anything from a little dirt to a serious infection.

The only time at the resort I've been to that I've seen people sit anywhere without a towel is when they sit on the edge of the jaccuzi tub.

If you sit on your towel at several different places, how do you know which side is up and which side is contaminated?

My towels have my name embroidered along with my club's name - easy to remember which side I'm sitting on

Most beach towels have a different pattern, or texture, front and back.
