While attending nude beaches and resorts I enjoy looking at others and sharing my nude body with other. (Nothing sexual, no staring, no gawking) just enjoying the nude form. I have been told that this is wrong and is not what nudism is about. Is this true. Do "real" nudists not look at each others body? Serious replies only please.

StevieLornaJul 26, 2022I read a recent news t report about a man being shot dead on a nudist beach for preforming a sex act in front of some women.
That is a bit extreme but naturists are very quick to work out just who the creepy people are and soon let them know they are not welcome.

There is nudist etiquette and there is everything else. Consider yourself a true nudist if you can take a quick look at another nudist, maybe smile, but then send your gaze elsewhere withing a couple of seconds. I mean one or two seconds, no longer, or you are not being respectful. And further, once you have taken in your pleasant first view of another human body, it is quite rude to keep glancing back at them.
Most nudists who go to beaches expect a little looky-look, but if you can't control your eyes you'll make them uncomfortable and likely make them re-locate their towels to another spot, quite understandably.
When it comes to resorts, if you can't stop yourself from looking back to their fair bare body over and over, either you'll get told by the management to leave the resort, or at least be confronted by the other person or their friend to mind your manners.
Now IF the person you have explored with your eyes in that first, fleeting moment notices your glance and likes you looking at them, then it is they who can then make any next moves of engagement, not YOU! You're not likely to get much positive reaction from anyone at all if all you do is lay on your lounge chair on your tummy and pretend your eyes are closed behind your sunglasses.
And your butt will get burned as well.
We all like to be seen and see others, that's a big part of what keeps us coming back to nude places. There are people who cannot control their urge to keep their eyes coming back for more, and those people should stick to the internet for their need for more skin - leave the live people to us others who can control their actions appropriately.ReactReply - MEMemberJul 26, 2022
Simple answer - It is never good form to stare at other people whether clothed or nude. Like others looking at you? Relax and enjoy as much as you like, but don't make any inappropriate movements or gestures.

I think yes
Real nudists will look at others but not stare
The body is a work of art
I enjoy being nude and dont mind if they look
When I speak with other nudists, talk to them as if they were fully clothed.ReactReply - EA
EarlDJul 27, 2022I would say a big NO most people who go to nude/clothing optional beaches dont want to be ogled or confronted with people who want to show off themselves (its called exhibitionism by the way) . So no dont ruin the experience for other beach goers and potentially risk the beach being targeted by authorities because of inappropriate behavior. DONT BE THAT GUY as in the creepy nude beach guy. Hiding behind glasses doesnt work. Go to a venue where that kind of behavior is the intent or norm.

Gotta all these folks who justify the behavior by suggesting the are just appreciating the naked body without thinking how it impacts the people they are creepin on. No wonder mainstream folks particularly women think nudists are just pervs when that is how they perceive all of us.ReactReply - ST

MikeAug 1, 2022This is perfectly natural. Anyone that thinks otherwise is lying to themselves or they may have a hypoactive disorder. Reproduction is human nature and part of our animal instinct and natural selection process. One may appreciate a beautiful nude and be drawn to it, as a work of art. Just appreciate that it is belongs to someone else. Being the target of overt and innappropriate ogling or behaviour can be unsettling to varying degrees. It is important to be respectful of boundaries. Instead, try a conversation starter, or just move on. If someone is staring at me, I might usually take that as a compliment but I've also been a bit creeped out at times. I'm confident that there are a great number of people have discovered each other in a nudist environment, that developed into something much more than platonic. Staring, in all likelihood is not going to get you too far. It may instead, ilicit a negative response from the target of your admiration. They might also be completely oblivious to it, or even enjoy the attention. I think a lot of it also depends on the features and general etiquette practices of the venue itself. Some locations for example are just not that conducive to having an expectation of any sort of anonymity.

MarcusAug 1, 2022Big No, you look other people into the face and thats it. Do not behave like a textile or swinger and look them on the boobs, or bulge or buttocks. You will look there sub-consciously, but consciously you look into the face otherwise it is not good naked culture, for sure no naturism.
I would like to quote from the paper: "Naturist utopia and libertine rebellion" by Herman 2016: For the naturists, eyesight is a tool of self-control and of control of the surroundings, in the sense that insistent staring ones own and of others must be kept in check. The naturists realise that looking even if unintentional might be interpreted as impudent by the observed person. Pursuant to the rule of intuitive law, it is then the looker who must make sure that his or her looking does not breach the privacy of another person. Fleeting, short glances, one-overs are allowed."ReactReply - EA

I always go with women who are my friends, and many times its their first try at nudism and for sure first time being nude in front of me...I really enjoy seeing them nude and me being reciprocal nude. So its not exactly the same, but I like that it puts us on even ground without all the sexual stuff that can go with being friends.
I love being naked and I love seeing others enjoying the same pleasures that I share.

BillAug 2, 2022This link to the article you offered is not working, or at least not for me. I was curious to read a news story about this incident, but then I got the 404 page on Fox news. Fox news in court some time ago, to get out of a lawsuit they were involved in, stated that they were not a news channel but in fact an entertainment channel, so that immediately makes anything they are "reporting" to be questionable. Anyone who calls themselves 'NEWS' in their title but then claims something else make me wary of their content, as I feel it should for anyone. Can you corroborate the story through a more reputable source, please? Stone AndyAug 3, 2022Im not quite sure how this thread went for sunglasses to Benghazi.
In any case, I think it's dangerous to make claims of "true" nudism, which sounds dogmatic to me. To me it's about respect. That's RE as in "again" and "spect" as in "look at" (think spectator, spectacles). Respect=to look at twice. The first time for yourself, the other time from the other's perspective. That means we need to give that other person a chance to look back and respond, or we are invading their autonomy. Some may be offended by a glance and others welcome a stare. It's hard to gauge for people clothed and in everyday situations, and nudism only makes it more complex. As far as sunglasses, people sense when they're being stared at, just like you stare at someone from behind and they'll likely turn their head to see what "it" is.
Yes or no? It depends.ReactReply - NUnudeyooperAug 3, 2022
This could get ugly but I will say that from my viewpoint, the blame game and falsehoods have to stop. If it is news, report it as such and if it is opinon or analysis, make that known. Too many people are playing games with the truth, and that is causing a lack of trust in the system. It may not be perfect, but our system of democratic representation is the best to have been devised so far. What we need most is an electorate that actually represents their constituents.
Too many of us sit back and critcize, but do we contact our representatives? I try but rarely get a reply and when I have gotten one, the answer has been a form letter that essentially says, I am right and you are." Polls have shown that a majority of us are not happy with our representation, yet we continue to reelect those who are not listening to us. I can't even count on the newsletters from my congressman to be truthful. They tend to be written with an attitude of show how they are working for us, when in actuality they are working for themselves. Find me a politician who began his tenure with little to no money and ended it after many years with little to no money.

BillAug 4, 2022I did not mean to turn this into a political squabble with my comment, more to bring to light the fact that the link offered wasn't working, and that Fox has admitted for the record (court record) that they are not a news source but an entertainment channel. Entertaining it may be to millions of viewers, but to consider Fox News as a true news source and to think that what they offer is a reasonable amount of slant, way too much Kool-aid has been supped.
It is nearly impossible to find fact-based news on television that won't try to sway you in some way now. I think we can all agree that the news services you have referenced here have all fallen victim to slant of one direction or another - but Fox gave the ex-president unlimited airtime via phone whenever he wanted it, and the two of them (entertainment channel & president at the time) would swirl around a fictitious story until it was all of the sudden considered true. That cannot and should not ever be considered hard news.
What should be considered 'hard news'? Does Fox maintain a certain time of day where they give less right wing-oriented news? During what hours does this entertainment channel become news? I would appreciate seeing that schedule because I might turn it on once in a while if that where the case.
See below what I feel is a thoughtful treatment of where many of today's news sources fall in the big picture of information. It isn't too easy to read unless you open it and make it larger (hold down CTRL key and scroll mouse). Notice how far down the page Fox News is found? Finding one's news higher on this chart could assist in garnering credibility when making a case.

JohnAug 4, 2022I'm tuning out the references to Trump and the Bidens, because they aren't relevant to this thread.
What if find interesting is how the media thinks that it's somehow representative of nudism that the killer and the victim were naked. The fact is that nudists are by and large like other people. Most of us are sane, and then there is the VERY occasional whack job.
A few years back, three women were horribly murdered near Yosemite National Park in California. The killer was eventually identified, tracked down, and arrested. And where was he arrested? At Laguna del Sol, a naturist resort. Does that make him a nudist psychopathic killer? Or a psychopathic killer who also happened to b a nudist?
I don't remember the resort getting any bad backlash from the incident. At least, the local papers didn't make a big thing of the fact of his being arrested there. That seems to be the principal difference between that incident and the present one.
