Hey everyone, I plan to be in Vermont Labor Day weekend and would be open to a hike either Saturday or Monday. Saturday would be better for me, but open to Monday. Couple suggestions would be t a section of the AT to Little Pond near Bennington. This trail provides options that range from 4.5 miles to 10 miles. Naturist Soaker, if you read this post, this is the same trail we attempted Memorial Day a year or so ago but turned around for a number of reasons. Another suggestion is Spruce Mountain northwest of Montpelier. It has a great view and a fire tower we can climb. The trail is in and out and is about 4-5 miles. Open to other ideas as well. Let's get the trail and date nailed down soon so it can be posted under events.

Yes, remember the aborted hike to Little Pond well. I should be available on Saturday and/or Monday of Labor Day weekend. I'll look at the maps and make some suggestions. Somewhere along the Long Trail has appeal to me.

Glad to hear others in this group are interested in a holiday naked hike. I live about equal distance from both locations either is fine with me. Saturday would be better, likely can get more hikers to sign on that day.

Not sure of my Labor Day weekend plans at this point, but this sounds interesting. I'd prefer the Little Pond trail as it is more to the south and I'm coming from Milford, MA.

Why did you have to abort?

Looking at the maps and between the two options presented, my bias would be to do the Little Pond hike, up the Long Trail from the parking area on Route 9.
There is a very nice loop west of Stratton Mountain that includes Stratton Pond, South Bourne Pond, and Branch Pond.
There is also Harmon Hill from the same parkign area as the Little Pond start, previously suggested by OtisSpunkmeyerNH
Being a holiday weekend, it is likely that we will see lots of textile hikers. That's not a concern for me but others may be shy.

A fellow hiker's legs were weak and the bugs end of May were bad, so we turned around

ok, so sounds like Little Pond, and if everyone thinks Sat is good, let's post it. I will be staying over somewhere, not sure where yet, and if anyone else is interested staying over Sat, willing to share a room. There is a great restaurant in Bennington called the Publyk House, if anyone is staying over we can reserve a table and share dinner. Plan to spend the rest of the weekend relaxing at the Ledges and Rock River

Hey Ossipeeman, thanks for the info, will have to check it out sometime, but a bit too far north if we are going to do Little Pond

I'll be in Vermont earlier that week and a day after Labor Day, but I'll be up at Willoughby so It'll be a long drive to and from, but I'll try to make it. I always end up missing these hikes and I'd like to make one. I liked the idea of the one near Montpelier, and I'd like to do Stratton Pond with others sometime. I'll try to make this Little Pond hike.

I'm in for Little Pond (and would like to hike another half mile up the LT to a minor peak) on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, barring anything unforeseen.

I'm still unfamiliar with Vermont. Isn't Little Pond Trail fairly far south. I know Little Rock Pond Trail is further north. I've been there twice seems to be in the middle of nowhere.

Yes, there is quite a difference, both in location and for the hike, between Little Pond and Little Rock Pond. The hike for Little Pond would start at the AT/LT parking area on Route 9, east of Bennington.

It's not far from the Ledges. I've been there several times. My schedule is looking good for being able to get to the Saturday hike.

Just checked my schedule and realize that Labor Day is the 1st, a week earlier than I thought. Although I am generally available that weekend, Saturday afternoon is booked. Regretably, I won't be able to join the group hike on Saturday. I will look into organizing something for Monday and post in a separate thread.

I haven't said I'm definitely coming, just because, although I will be in Vermont, I will be at Lake Willoughby, 3 hours away. So that's a 6 hour drive that day. I have been planning to join everyone but I prefer Saturday. I cant make it on Monday.
