Took the family out to the Ren-Fest last weekend. I havent been since I was in high school so it was a lot of fun. Ive always enjoyed it. I didnt plan to dress up but next year I fully plan to take advantage of kilt.
I did notice that the majority of women who dressed up chose not to wear a bra. A lot of attire also had corset type dresses that pushed the breast up which who would choose to also have a bra with that may be uncomfortable. But additionally women even in loose fitting costumes you could tell chose not to wear a bra and just be comfortable. It was nice.

I would assume that you would wear the kilt without underwear. Speaking of which, how close are you to never wearing underwear?ReactReply - JA

JayneNov 21, 2025I dont think we have the same number or scale of Ren Festivals here in the UK. But we do some historical re-enactments at some of our historical sites. The battle of Bosworth (from 1485) is quite near me and it has a regular re-enactment festival. It has the obvious battle scenes but also the battle camps, general historical trades and interests, stores and food of course! Ive been to it a few times. The first time they had stalls with the traditional clothes, most of their trade is from the re-enactors themselves rather than the public. The re-enactors have to make or buy their costumes from somewhere I suppose. I was fascinated by it and being a history buff couldnt resist. They kitted me out in a wench outfit and felt right at home. No bra of course and choices of simple blouses to the more fancy corsets. Ive since gone back (in my period outfit) and joined them on the re-enactors side of things. Many of them are very skilled at some of the trades and crafts but they also have plenty of people filling out the places and giving it a more natural look. You get to know the people really well and its great to be involved.

So maybe 2-3 times a week for only about an hour. I would def wear the kilt without underwear! AdamReactReply - AD

AdamOriginal PosterNov 22, 2025Jayne thats awesome. It sounds like a really fun time! They do some reenactments here also. The shops, plays and shows are all really amazing. They have little shops with things like blacksmithing, glass blowing, crafting, etc. its a great time!

Thats awesome that you decided to join the reenactment group. Ive always wanted to be part of a reenactment, especially when I visit family in the UK. Last time I went, they told me I would have to make my own costume, but its cool that there are shops that sell them as well, like you said.

JimDec 1, 2025There is a ren fest in Tuxedo NY . Ive been to once a few years ago, people wore a wide range of outfits , ren wear, ill call it to cosplay to furries some quite revealing loose blouses with nothing underneath , on the women in particular . The radio ad always made me smile, the clearly say wear anything you want! Aside from the fact its I think usually in the fall (cool to cold) that photo would provided above would be a great example of what one might get away with!

My parents took me a few times when growing up. I guess way back then, things weren't quite so free-spirited. However, a few very well-endiwed women made an impression on me as they were squeezed into a straining bodice. Maybe I need to go again. I like minimalist's barbarian look. Maybe if a bunch of us from this site all go at the sane time, we could be a full barbarian tribe!ReactReply
