The main options seem to be the ones in the heading.
I find that wrist or ankle tends to inhibit my swimming so I tie mine to my upper arm just above my elbow..
What are your preferences?

I usually stuff it under my hat and that works well. Once I picked up a few rocks , put them in my pockets and sank the suit. The key and (thrill) was to remember where I sank the suit so I could retrieve it and get out of the water. I was a bit worried only once

At least not the beaches I go to.ReactReply - ST
SteveJun 9, 2022Ankle for me. Keeps it below the waterline to give less of a clue to others. The only way they'd know is if the waves reveal a little extra.

If I do this it is always on my arm. I've tried the ankle and always been concerned it will come off, when kicking while swimming, and float away.

SteveJun 16, 2024Did lose my swimsuit once while swimming in Long Island Sound . Was staying with my parents
. Had dropped it down to my lower legs . Didn't realize it slipped off me until it was gone . I was swimming after dark . Found it on the shoreline the next day . Did have a beach towel so could cover up getting back home . Now I will always have it wrapped up around my upper arm , where it can never be lost .ReactReply - ST

SteveDec 3, 2024I've never lost my suit of my ankle, but do try to be vigilant in making sure I can 'feel' its presence. I hope I never get into q situation where it feels it's there even if it no longer is.
The other option is to pick a quiet moment when I can leave the door on the beach, perhaps behind a rock or a shrub, and stay in the water until there's another quiet moment for me to exit. Funny how often my section of the beach becomes busy with walkers just as I feel it's time to come out again!
