or false: Moderators or monitors, in any form, challenge the conventions
of a society that prides itself in taking an alternate route to personal
comfort.
p style="margin: 0.1pt 0in;"
p style="margin: 0.1pt 0in;"So
we have this chat room that’s pretty hopping. And yes, every now and
again someone does something that infringes on someone else’s comfort level.
But I would submit to you that the site contains plenty of remedies to deal
with those who infringe upon others. For instance if someone insults me, I
can block them. If someone is doing something I don’t like on cam,
I can .. well .. choose not to watch their cam. If someone is saying stupid
things in the chat, I can make them feel even stupider by outwitting them (just
like in actual society). So do we really need to arm the host of
volunteer super-users with ability to zap anyone they wish into exile, for
perhaps just altering the "normal" channels of thought. They will claim they are being judicious with their "power", but gosh there are an aweful lot of people getting kicked out. The sign of an overly zeolous lot of volunteers perhaps?
p style="margin: 0.1pt 0in;"
p style="margin: 0.1pt 0in;"This
premise alone should be insulting to anyone who came here to escape the
narrowed perecptions permeating real-life society. We are (for the most part) adults, and as such we posses the ability to deal with those who infringe upon us without having to involve the use of hall monitors. This isn't high-school, so stop treating us like kids.
p style="margin: 0.1pt 0in;"

just my $. 02. I hope I don’t get banned for my inquiry, and utter disgust.

Check on other threads regarding the number of women who have left TN due to harrassment and sexual abuse, then ask your question again.

wes0u812Apr 21, 2011Just curious, have you been kicked out of the chat room? You seem too bothered by them being there, Must be a reason. as far as our thoughts Me and my better half have been on this site for almost a year and have seen a large number of perverts, jerks, vulgar, arrogant scum bags in the chat rooms that are clearly there for reasons other than what it was created for. I personally enjoy knowing that if some unwanted P.O.S. that has no respect for others and no decency wanders in the chat room that if they cross that line ((( POOF they are gone))) lol.
So Our answer to your question is Yes I think we need the mods and we support them 110%ReactReply - SC
scnudistApr 21, 2011It's no different than at a resort. If someone is seen doing something they shouldn't or is being bothersome, more than one person can make them leave the resort. This is essentially an online resort, and like in real life, our nudist lifestyle needs protected from perverts. You should be embracing the added level of comfort that is afforded everyone by having them there. And just because you can block someone doesn't help anyone else.

PeaceMaleOriginal PosterApr 21, 2011Yes, I was kicked out because I objected to them being there - apparantly you are not allowed to reference the super-users in the chat as it impededs the flow of what is otherwise thought to be engaging conversation. I was given a first and "final warning" and was kicked out after telling the moderator to please refrain from threatening me as it wasnt very nice. Look, I dont deny that there are "perverts" out there, but do object to the use of the term. For example, most of the people I know would deem anyone logged into this site as a "pervert", so we ought to be a little more sensitive when throwing that term around. But I digress. I get back to my initial point - this site is equipped with tools to remedy disruptive behavior, we cant have the hyper-sensitivities (and inability to self remedy) of a few members dictate the need for a regulatory body, unless of course you wish to promote a community that perpetuates conventional societal "norms" , the very norms we challenge, and of which lead us here in the first place.

wes0u812Apr 21, 2011The way i see it if you want to join in chat with other members of this site go for it and don't be bothered by the mods after all there only goal is to keep out the unwanteds and to help keep the chat rooms what they were meant to be a place to chat and socialize with others that share the love of this lifestyle as long as you follow the rules of the rooms you will be welcomed and quite possibly meet new friends and if your intentions are honorable you will never even know they are there.

PeteyBApr 21, 2011as someone who was kicked out as well and the moderator felt the need to apologize for doing so after they did it.. I think the moderators here are just a bit too overzealous in their positions of authority. I was told when the person apologized to me they felt they had to be 'quick on the button' which is just the same to me as a cop telling me he has to be 'quick on the trigger'. While the idea of a moderator is something I don't like, a properly trained and controlled moderator can be a good addition to chat.. I don't go to chat as much because of the overzealousness of a few moderators here.
i think the issue here is not so much the existence of moderators as the lack of training. Not that I expect the site to go to any expense..I just think there is a huge clique here and that should not be allowed in the moderators.ReactReply - WE

I think this site was started with the proper ideas and still tries to maintain that even in the face of those who want to start their own private club. Which is why i stick around because I can see the struggles of a site that wants to maintain relevency in the face of those who want to take over control. I no longer go back to some sites similar to this one because the cliques have taken total control and the site owners went along with that. I am hoping this site is different in that it allows for opinions and discourse and even a few friendly jabs without the need to control the chatters like they are children. If i were the only one complaining about the treatment in the chatroom..I would just hush up about it and let it lie.. but there are many complaints and while I think most mods here have the proper attitude there are.. as in all organizations a few who are a bit 'quick to click' and that needs to be dealt with. Hopefully those people will see this posting and realize that I am not one of those nuts out there harrassing women and realize some of these complaints are legitimate.ReactReply - PH

I am simply amazed, that anyone (given all the agro that we had prior to the mods being appointed) can have a profile here for that long, and still ask such a question. And, now that you mention it, also not know how to paste to the forum, despite numerous references to the instructions in the FAQ group. The only logical explanation, that I can think of for this, is, that you have not been here. Hence, my question.ReactReply - NW
NWWACoupleApr 21, 2011
What is needed is a method of policing the police. When I frequented the Marvel boards there was a mod there who was known as a bit of a tyrant. He'd argue with a lot of the posters and if he couldn't shout his point across then he had a habit of banning them from the site for about a week. He did this to me once or twice and a large group of us complained but he was a mod so even the other mods couldn't touch him. Eventualy he banned me permanently and I decided I wasn't going to come back with a new profile. To be honest I was glad to be gone. My point is that while he was a mod, he was also an ass and needed to be modded himself. The same can happen on any site so I think what is needed is a method of policing the police rather than removing them all together.
There is a method for policing the moderators. If you feel someone is out of line, moderator or otherwise, you are free to flag them and add a description of why you did it. Though a single flag may go unnoticed, were a moderator to be completely out of line, enough flags would certainly get attention. The site owner (TeamTrue1) has autonomous control, he setup the moderators, and he can take action when he feels it's needed. He is also interested in feedback from members. To the OP, if you want to make a suggestion, get certified and make one in the section of the forum he created for that purpose. Wherever there are moderators, there will be some complaints about them. From our experience, the mods here at TN are playing a critical role and the atmosphere in the chat room is noticeably better when they are around. FF32404Apr 21, 2011Peace, without reading everyone's responses in their entirety, I have been going to nudist chat rooms for years and the ones that are unmoderated are absolute disasters and they drive all of the good people away. This is a fact and even in this room, when mods are not there I have seen the room get out of control with some people, and yes I'll call them "PERVS" Your comment about taking offense to the term baffles me too, since you may be right that some non nudists think all of us are pervs, BUT this is a nudist site so therefore the members here know that PERVS need no other term to define them. I won't comment on your booting situation because I was not there except to say, the rules are set by the owner, this is not a democracy and all must abide by them.

ThomasApr 21, 2011I have been a member here for a long time, I quit going to the chat room because of all problems iin chat before we had mods in the chat room. This experience tells me that Mods are necessary.
I have seen a lot of good people leave here because they got tired of the harrassment. If someone has to continuously block people because of it, it takes away from being able to enjoy the chat.
Peacemale, I normally do not talk about why someone is booted from chat. Since you brought it out to open forum I will respond. I have seen you come into chat and attack the mods with inflamatory remarks. It was a clear case of trolling.
I would like to thank all who responded in support.ReactReply - CA

EvansBetterHalfApr 21, 2011
The owner of the site has the right to decide what is proper behavior in his house. The rules are posted on the page one uses to enter chat. They're painfully simple.
Exactly, as an owner of a forum, that keeps advertising crap out by bearing the cost, I completely agree. As to the need for Mods, the answer is yes, yes, and hell yes. Site owners are not and cannot be on their site 24/7. Just not reasonable or reality. So to maintain some level of standard, the Mods are needed and should be appreciated for their time and effort.ReactReply - MEMemberApr 21, 2011

Civilization exists precisely because man chooses to put restrictions on uncivilized public behavior. Therefore the site owner is free to establish whatever rules and policies he deems necessary or desirable. A user agrees to the site's rules and policies when he/she signs on............. PeteyBApr 22, 2011
If people don't like the rules, they are under no obligation to remain here. I suggest they look for a site more suitable to theirperversity.
This is what I am talking about with the judgement by the people who frequent here. Because the overzealousness of some moderators in chat offends some people they are classified as perverts. I find this amazing. How can this fellow even look himself in the mirror with his hypocrisy?. He makes snap judgements and is offended when people make the same judgements about nudists?. This fellow is not the only one here who is offensive in trying to enforce the clique mentallity that exists in some people here but this kind of mentality is what kills sites such as this. I do believe moderators are an asset to the site but I also think they should be as unintrusive as possible. I have been yelled at by a moderator for once cracking a joke about Obama. I do not consider pushing the chat away from topics that are not offensive sexually as being unintrusive. I consider that as big brother and not allowing the chat to flow with adult conversation. I do understand the references regarding sex as being out of bounds when it starts offending people but a political remark about the government? I do not believe a moderator's power of muting should extend to places where the site owner has not specifically banned. This is an example of moderators taking too much power where they shouldn't. I think moderators should be there but their existence shouldn't be out front with whips, chains and jackboots wearing a cape in the name of what they subjectively consider common decency. I suggest a more clear policy of what they can censor and how to remain more in the background instead of an 'in your face' policy they have now. For instance, why is there a notification in the chatroom when somone has been muted?. Is this a 'lesson' for all that big brother is not going to stand for such behavior and you best get in line before this whip is craked on your head as well? As i said.. if this is how the site owner wants his chatroom run then i suggest you guys enjoy being happy with your level of discourse and old biddy librarian attitudes shh'ing you at every witty turn of a phrase that one person subjectively feels is not what they want to hear. For I won't be there. I prefer a place where the less rules the better and the more clear those rules are the better I like it.. For i was muted because the moderater admitted he wasn't actually paying attention to the topic. He just didn't like the one line I said without knowing the context of the conversation. I told the guy perhaps instead of jumping on that button it might be better customer service to actually ask the offender.. see how evil that is to even say?.. ask the offender what he said and meant before advertising to the room that .. he.. yet again.. put another notch on his pistol and muted someone. So. .to conclude.. yes.. moderators are necessary.. whether this current crop of moderators are properly trained and following what the site admin wants.. only he can answer that. For myself..I spend little time in chat because of the moderators and if this is they type customer service this site wants to give then I won't be joining. Personally, I'm waiting to see how things change if at all.ReactReply - RO
RoosterockApr 22, 2011You have certain perverts on this site who do not know how to act around nude people or in chat rooms. They are the ones that are causing the ladies to leave.
ReactReply - MEMemberApr 22, 2011
I agree with both sides of this topic.
On one hand the MODs (Super Cops) are needed without question. (same as Police in the real world)
On the other hand a percentage of the mods here are not conducive to harmonious chat due to their perceived WRONG behaviour boots/bans. Many of these are questionably borderline offenses.
If some yobo is wanking directly on cam then because of the rules he should be banned. Disrespecting the ladies should be banned.
Replying to name calling from a regular is NOT bannable in my opinion.
There are some that are very good at being mods but I fear they are few.
Power Corrupts.Perhaps term limits or mods to mod the mods?
This site has very quickly become VERY cliquish and new chatters who come and issue greetings are mostly ignored as the "Regulars" promote their own egos and self worth.Ban me also for my thoughts on the subject.
