I do not believe in them. It is an either/or situation. Either the beach is textile and you should not be nude or it is nudist and you should be nude. Mixing these two never works as everybody starts feeling out of place.
So you're okay with forced nudity?  I'm not.
But your OK with forced clothedness? That's what it is when they tell you, you CAN'T go nude on the beach. Forced to wear clothes.

I don't think we'll ever resolve the issue but in the ideal world, we would have:  Textile, Clothing Optional, and Nude.
No, I'm not okay with being forced to wear clothes.  I wish we lived in a society where we had the option to be naked or not.  Right now, we at least do have some beaches that we can be naked at, and the clothed people can be clothed at their beaches.
NAH NAH - You started it!

Nobody is forcing them to go to the beach. It's just if you do go to the beach, you can't have on clothing. This might put the hurt on the swim suit industry, but they way over charge for the little bit of fabric they are selling anyway. Take a look at the price of a swim suit and the amount of material in it, compared to the price of say, a pair of blue jeans, and the amount of material in them and you will see what I mean.

As usual, lots of good and differing points of view.  Unfortunately, also posts that get personal and nasty.  Please don't.  Be nice.  That's all. Everyone is different and someone with a different point of view is just that, a person with different point of view.  Let's just be nice.  We're nude after all.
    Just say'n.

In my opinion, clothing optional beaches are one way the nudist movement can grow. If enough nudists can be seen relaxing, unashamed by textiles, nudity would become commonplace. Once commonplace, any stigma would disappear and others would be temped to join in.

We do need to be grateful for what we can have and surely a designated clothing optional beach where we can be nude has got to be FAR ahead of no co beach. I am not convinced that many nudists are discouraged by a co beach

I will always maintain that personal freedom of choice is the best option, but the laws here in the U.S. don't always permit beach goers to get naked. Since beaches are public places, where those who wish to skinny dip are allowed to do so it is not possible to exclude those who want to remain clothed. Their freedom to remain clothed can not be revoked so easily in the real world.

Why nudists concern themselves with the attire of others who don't participate in nude recreation mystifies me as much as why textiles concern themselves with nudist lack of clothing. What anyone else happens to be wearing has absolutely no effect on me or anyone else. As Hilliary C. likes to say"What difference does it make?" Maybe one of you who believe you're affected by someone else's attire can explain it to me.

It's like saying people who don't drink alcohol should not be allowed in a bar.
