I have read a lot of posts about nudists who convince friends to at least try to embrace the lifestyle, and see if it is something the could also embrace in time. But I could not recall to many posts from those that were introduced to nudism at an older age, some one who might have been more modest or discreet If there is anyone on TN who was, later in life found the freedom of this lifestyle and enjoyed it so much to become a nudist them selves. Please I would love for you to share your story.

Depends on how you define late bloomer. I occasionally swam nude with other nude young men in my friend's pool starting around 17, Didn't consider it nudity because nude swimming when only men were present was common then. I would occasionally be nude at home in my 20's but more often than not as a prelude to intimate activities. Was nude less often after the first child arrived. First went to a clothing optional beach in my early 30's. At 35, we bought a house with a pool and I would swim nude after dark. A year later, I started sleeping nude on a regular basis, and going to the clothing optional beach more often. Fast forward 25 years, I retired and got a privacy fence around the pool, Swam and relaxed and worked nude around the pool unless we had company. Spent more time nude at home. 5 years later, Covid hit and I bought some gym equipment and started working out nude at home. Made a few day trips to clothing optional resorts.

I do wear swimsuits when we travel, usually tan through.

Thank you for sharing, always glad to hear stories of other nudists enjoying the lifestyle. It sounds like you were a selfstarter on your journey. My first official public nudity was on a nude beach I visited, I took my ex girlfriend because she didnt believe I was actually going full nude. I had told her to come with me if she didn't believe me, but she would have to be nude also. I didnt think she had it in her but once on the beach she was naked before me. I was shocked. She wasn't as shy as I had thought. Anyway glad you found your comfort in nudism and are currently still enjoying yourself. Again, thank you for sharing.

I am definitely a "late bloomer". I am just beginning to explore nudity as a Naturist.

We are on a road trip in Texas to avoid the cold in Wisconsin. So far I have made three attempts at nudity in remote public places. The first was on a trail in Big Bend National Park. I tried hiking naked on a little used trail. It did not work out so well. It took me too long to cover up when I encountered a fast moving young couple. Sharp rocks and cactus thorns made it very difficult to remove shoes and don shorts quickly. No clothed people were harmed as far as I can tell.

The second attempt was in Davis Mountain State Park. I found a place just outside of trail view and did sun bathing. It worked much better. I repeated on a second day. 15 minutes per side to avoid sun burn.

The next possibility will be South Padre Island. There may be a clothing optional beach at the far northern end.

I have also been practicing for social nudity. My wife does not share my interest. However, she has accepted me making and serving breakfast nude in our travel trailer. She even joined me on a couple of occasions.

I did encounter one other old nudist. He would sit in the front passenger seat of his motor coach fully exposed after dark. Head lights passing revealed all, including a big grin.

Naturist Paul you definitely sound like a late bloomer, but I'm glad you are out there giving it a go. Just be careful on some of those trails. Maybe wear some baggy shirts that are slightly long incase you need to cover quickly. That's what I do. I have had to get dressed in a hurry on some trails. It didnt always work out. Luckily no one has freaked out yet. Im also glad to hear your wife is understanding. That's always good. Who knows maybe she will join you in the future. Thanks for sharing your story it's much appreciated.

My wife was in her mid-forties when I introduced her to resort nudism. I guess that's "late" lol!
That would be her first time with social nudity, and I would say she adjusted pretty well considering the fact that she was naked in the pool area within an hour.
She likes to say that she would have had no hesitations going if it had come up when she was in her twenties (in took me 2 years to convince her). I don't know how true that is; but it doesn't matter since she's been naked at the resort ever since.

I've met female "late bloomers" a few times over the years . In some cases they started nudism after a divorce or husband's death.
One lady (who started in her sixties) told me she had been thinking about it for years, but her husband was opposed to it. When he passed one of the first things she did was go to a resort.
Another lady told me that she felt lonely after her divorce, and a friend recommended non-landed nudism as a way to connect - clothesfree - with other people.
And of course some divorced and remarried a nudist.

I hope I'm not sidetracking your question, but your post sparked some thoughts. Though I discovered social nudism relatively early, I've noticed a common refrain among newcomers: "Why didn't I start sooner?" I felt this myself, even having begun in college. What's interesting is that many of my early nudist mentors were older folks who had simply outgrown society's arbitrary opinions. I find myself caring less about such judgments with each passing birthday. The beautiful thing about nudism is that it's never too latewhether you're twenty or seventy when you first shed your clothes at a resort, you can immediately begin enjoying its liberating benefits. In my experience, regardless of when people take that first bare step, regret is never part of the equation.

I hope the two of you continue a long time enjoying it. She has some catching up to do. Thanks for sharing.
And of course some divorced and remarried a nudist.
While I wish my wife would participate in social nudity or at least attend clothing optional venues with me and stay clothed, I would never consider divorcing her so I could marry a nudist, There are too many good things about or marriage to lose, despite this one significant difference.

I used to go to spas in sit in steamrooms, saunas, and whirlpools talking with people far older then myself who got into the lifestyle older on and wished they had started much earlier. I was in my early twenties and was very comfortable being naked with older couples. They always asked me how I had gotten to be that way so young. In a whirlpool it's much easier to hide an erection I'd say, they would laugh and refer to my confidence . I'd tell them mentally I'm more confident when others are naked around me. I think, for me atleast it's so relaxing and freeing to be naked that we wish it could be all the time but it can't be so we cherish all the time we can to feel the way wa do being nude. I always thought, if I ever get rich I'll move somewhere I never have to wear clothes again. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I have chatted with a number of folks who emerged into nude life after 40. Some as part of turning 40 and others many years after turning 40.

What is common across their stories of entering nude life at such an age is a desire to shun the conformity and constraints of the world (ie feel free). This often converges with another view that their body is what it is and has got them this far (ie self discovery).

I have witnessed a couple at a beach who were clearly in my view experiencing public nudity for the first time. It was a dull day and not many of us around when they arrived and cautiously disrobed. The water was cold. But their joy was wonderful to see with them both jumping around like teenagers. I would have said they were both over 60.

Every now and then at a local CO beach I've seen people who appear first timers and over 40+. I think it's great and my guess is that it's a dare or an idea and finally they have kids off their hands and decide to do something different or something they always wanted to but didn't get around to.

My late wife & I went when young but once kids come along beach visits became more difficult and we lived a long way from a CO beach. Just prior to her cancer diagnosis I had tentatively booked a camp stay at a CO beach / campground, but we did not get the chance to go there. I had many years of not getting to CO beaches when our kids were young and it was only when they were older and we shifted closer to the coast I had the opportunity again.

My new partner is 50 and has never been so that is planned for this summer.

Usually after the kids have grown up and the had more freedom and time. Thanks for sharing.
