Does anyone know what
happened to the cams in video chat? That was one of the key features of
the site which allowed us to interact with friends and get to know new
friends. What happened? Was it a technical problem or has the videochat
feature been deleted? HELP!!!!

catbirdJan 3, 2010My educated guess is that it is a technical problem with your computer. I was on chat two days ago and I used my video cam. It hasn't been deleted.

ThomasJan 3, 2010The cams and audio in chat didn't work for me today and from what I hear lots of other have had same problem. Not sure if it is a system problem or if has been removed.

NickJan 3, 2010No official word though? Might just be a technical glitch--if it was an official decisoin, I would expect some sort of notice.

blueiron35Jan 4, 2010Maybe the bad seeds will think it was off because of them and go somewhere else. You think that is hoping for too much?

ThomasJan 4, 2010
From the chat logon page comes the official word:Video HostingUserplane has restricted us from using video, since we're too far over bandwidth. We've found a new vendor and should have the new solution online within the next 48 hours (and without the annoying ads!!)
That is great to know, I haven't been in chat for over a week because my computer got infected with a virus from one of the ads and I am not about to use my laptop there till I can get other fixed and risk another computer down. As others have said, it is probably too much to hope for the abusers to decide to go elsewhere, but people continuing to flag abusers will definately thin them out. The site exceeded its available bandwidth. The site owner is looking for a new vendor for cam chat. There's a notice on the chatroom log-in page.
Isn't it funny how so many people immediately assumed the problem was the result of chat-room misbehavior?ReactReply - CA

Apparently chat room users have become lax about flagging the violators. We should now be ready to flag any of the wankers. However the warning that false flagging can get you banned -- that probably has some people afraid to flag. You need to submit proof when you indicate the reason for flagging. A screen photo would prove that violator was wanking. But then, some people don't know how to take a screen shot. On a Mac, it is shift-command-3.ReactReply - MEMemberJan 4, 2010
IMO, the whiner-flagger-blockers are as much of a problem with this site as those who ignore the rules. They need to take responsibility for their conduct too.

catbirdJan 4, 2010
In my 12+ years on the Web, I've discerned that those who complain about the "whiner-flagger-blockers" (i.e., those who believe that rules are made to be followed) are the ones that violate the rules. What's your suggestion? Should those who want to maintain the high standards of True Nudists shut up and allow the perverts and trolls to turn it into another sexual sewer? It won't happen. If you can't accept that, feel free to find a site more to your liking.
Very well stated.ReactReply - MEMemberJan 4, 2010
And I've found that the whiner-flagger-blockers are extremely unhappy people who generally complain about everything, voyeurs who like to perv on others, or hypocrites who complain about others in order to distract attention from their own misbehavior.
My suggestion? I suggest that everyone act like an adult, mind his or her own business, and take responsibility for their own choices and how they affect others, especially choices that create a negative atmosphere in the chatroom. You bitchers and moaners make things just as unpleasant for those of us who play by the rules as for those who don't play by the rules. I suggest you go somewhere else to complain.ReactReply - MEMemberJan 4, 2010Yes but the problemisn'trelated to misbehavior. That's the funny part.ReactReply

ThomasJan 5, 2010
You know I just got out of chat, and it was dead. Another day, it might have been full to over brimming. I'm of a mind....leave the cams off, and see who stays. I believe way too many people are coming here for the sole purpose as to be able to look at naked people. Prove me wrong.......leave the cams off. Who's here for friendship and who's here for other reasons? Anyhow, just my thought.
I finally went back to chat, and it was dead. But then it is always slower in chat this time of day. I personally miss the cams, there are people who I watch when they are there, not because they are nude, but because I like to see their response to something I say.ReactReply - MEMemberJan 5, 2010
And I've found that the whiner-flagger-blockers are extremely unhappy people who generally complain about everything, voyeurs who like to perv on others, or hypocrites who complain about others in order to distract attention from their own misbehavior. If they're on cam masturbating...I report them directly to abuse with a video clip of their behavior. I find nothing negative in that ...as it is POSITIVE ACTION to keep the creeps out of chat. Unhappy? Not in the least...99% of the people who view my cam, compliment me on my smile or tell me that they love watching my cam because I'm ALWAYS smiling or laughing. I, for one, am looking forward to the new chat platform WITHOUT ads as my computer has picked up far to many viruses from the ads and it will be interesting to see if a few known "perv" users disappear while the cams are out of commission. And if they're not I'll continue to warn, flag and report for abuse. Get used to it Legerdemain...we've been on the site for one and a half years and aren't letting a few pervs scare us away or over run the chat room. JenReactReply

Naked-HoustonJan 5, 2010I haven't been going in the chat room much because there are usually so many people that I have trouble following what's being said. I guess I should visit now -- dead is more my speed. :)

Miss_LindaJan 5, 2010I tried the chat yesterday for the first time. If that is dead then I don't want to know what it is normally like. My message box was overloaded within minutes and friends requests came in faster than I could keep up. Most of the conversation seemed to be people saying hi. I like this type of conversation better (here in the forum). I can read an intelligent conversation and then reply when it is convenient. Maybe it's just me but it feels like it is a better use of my time even if I am still wasting time.

SteveJan 5, 2010I agree with Linda - the chat room is filled with much chatter and little conversation. Still, it can be nice to touch base with online friends, just to know they are doing well (or not).
I do have one pet peeve with some of the posters above - the use of the word "perv". People who engage in common sexual activities, even if they do it on cam, are not perverted. Granted they may be rule breakers, but they are not perverted. Just my opinion.ReactReply - CA

That was my sentiment when I saw Legerdemain's post the first time. We should not let inappropriate conduct take over the chat room. Occasionally I have called to task those who violate the rules. If it's the rule, then my rump is covered (figuratively speaking). BTW I too compliment you on your smile and being jovial in the chat room. You are good natured.ReactReply - CA
catbirdJan 5, 2010For curiosity, I just went into the chat room for about 5 minutes, to find out whether it is dead. This was around 7:30 PM New Jersey time (Eastern Standard time). The number in there varied from 12 to 15. IMHO it was dead. One comment was to the effect that this is like the good old times when you could follow a conversation.
I miss the cams. While it may have driven the wankers off, I am sure it also drove the good behaviored people off. I like to see who I am talking to.ReactReply - TH

SteveJan 5, 2010
It depends on the context. Doing it in the chat room, on cam (in public) qualifies a person as a perv. They would get arrested and sent to the sex offenders list if they did it in public in the real world.
Being arrested because an activity is against the law still does not define it as perversion. In such a case, it is simply illegal. That is why I disagree with equating rule breaking (or law breaking for that matter) with perversion. After all, nudity is illegal in many places, even many places that are frequented by nudists and naturists. Are we willing to agree with critics that nudity is perversion?ReactReply - CA

SteveJan 5, 2010I respectfully disagree. If an activity is inappropriate, or against stated rules, fine. Go ahead and discourage it. Flag, ban, boot. But being inappropriate does not, in and of itself, make an action perverted. As I said, this is simply my pet peeve. I believe that nudists should be sensitive to the use of such an inflammatory word. The word gets tossed around this site as if it had real meaning. It doesn't.
ReactReply - ST
SteveJan 5, 2010You may ask whatever you wish. I am not mitigating anything - I intend only to state my objections to knee-jerk labels. If an action is an offense of the rules, so be it. I simply object to the characterization of all such actions as perversion. The definition you cite is for exhibitionism is selective. That does not determine that every action labeled as "perv" in this chat room qualifies as such. Perhaps there are habitual exhibitionists in chat. I can't say. But I believe that not every act of a sexual nature in public is perversion. I object to the fact that the word is used too loosely.
