Does anyone know what
happened to the cams in video chat? That was one of the key features of
the site which allowed us to interact with friends and get to know new
friends. What happened? Was it a technical problem or has the videochat
feature been deleted? HELP!!!!

This can go on forever without resolution, but I'll say a little more.  First, I don't think you can accurately ascribe motives as to why people register on a website.  If in fact someone registered here just so they could masturbate on cam, then they are misguided.  How many people do that - again, I can't say.  Second, if the viewer "benefits", then how bad can it be?  (Sorry - a little levity).  Finally, the motivations to be sexual on cam are myriad.  For some it may be exhibitionism ala the definition you cite - a desire to be seen by any and all.  But for others, it may be a contact with an individual or small group.  The fact that a cam can be viewed by anyone in the room (except when blocked) may be incidental to the intent.  Once again - if it's against the rules, it's against the rules.  I just don't believe that calling any and every person who plays on cam a perv is right.
And just to be clear - I am not advocating a change in the rules or a change in the site.  I advocate for a change in language.

Yes, civil discourse is good.  Two last points:

I think you'll find that most if not all of the on-cam wankers do nothing else on the site.
Since I have no evidence of this, I'm unwilling to make that assumption.

They are well aware that their actions are NOT confined to "an individual or small group", but are in full view of every person in the room.

I don't think this is strictly true.  Since someone on cam can know at all times who is watching them, you must grant the possibility that a person may change their behavior based on the audience.  So in some cases the intent may not be exhibitionism, but simply sexual activity between consenting adults.  Granted, the rules clearly state that such activity is not allowed, and I have no truck with that.  I simply object to the use of the word perv.  If it fits, it fits;  but it doesn't fit in all the cases it is used.

Please do not take this as an attack but might I suggest that sometimes it is better to agree to disagree and move on from a subject when the argument is not moving forward?
The new cam chat is almost worse than not having it.  You can't move the cam window of yourself or someone else out of the way of the chat or the name list.
You can move the cam window around within the chat and name list where it isn't in the way.  I like the new chat better because the popups with viruses are gone.  It does take a bit of getting used to with the new layout.  I just wish the room list was still in order of entry as an option so it is easier to see who just cam in.
i dont have the option to log in like you see in the help screen. just username tab, couple/male/female tab and the login. no other option for password. help!!!!!!!!!!
The first time I tried to go into chat I had the same problem, I put in user name and male and it wouldn't log me in.  I went to my account tab to make sure I was still logged into site and then went to chat and I worked immediatly.

I had to give it a try.  Some things are better, some things are worse.  I think after I get use to it, it will be OK.  Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the message when someone enters the room?  I got the doorbell off, but not the message itself.

The new chat room probably takes some getting used to.  At first I don't like it.
Most of all, I couldn't figure out how to turn on my cam.

Most of all, I couldn't figure out how to turn on my cam.
In the top right corner is a cam icon, clicking it turns on your cam and also mike if you have one.  There is also a button to stop the room from scrolling so you can take time to read something if needed when room is full and it is moving fast.  Next to it is button to turn of sound notification when people enter or leave room. I am still learning the new things different with room, my biggest complaint is I can't make the type larger, it is too small for me to read easily.  I had some of the other problems mentioned in earlier posts with room full and password issues, I went back to my account page and it worked fine when I went back in.
Must be startup hiccups. The six browsers log in properly now. After lurking in there for a few moments, I have decided anew that chat and grammar/spelling nazis like me are mutually exclusive. By the time I finish proofreading my post, what I would be responding to would be long gone. Gimme the good old forum every time.:-)
I think I will be in agreement with you on this issue. I tried the chat. It was difficult to keep up. I prefer conversing this way.
The biggest problem I had in the new chat room was whispering to someone.....it was easy to do ...BUT...then every time I replied to someone else it came up as a whisper to the person I originally whispered to...all too difficult for this old girl, but I am sure I will eventually get  the hang of it all :)
I had a similar problem with messaging a specific person.  When I replied to someone else, it still went to the specific person.  The problem is how to turn it off, when you want to go back to speaking to everyone. I think I will get the hang of it.  I have seen a chat room on another web site look like this.  It probably is the same software company.

So apply to your browser though since you tried 3 different kinds… I assume its not the browser

This only started after recent changes and does not affect the cam on Yahoo/MSN etc.
You may need to set your settings.  I don't use a mac, but have seen it discussed.  Right click the cam icon above the room list and click settings.  You should see your cam listed.  You may have to specify firewire connection to make it work.  Also, you have to allow Flashplayer to broadcast.  The chat here uses Flashplayer.  If this doesn't help, look for Rabbitnbunny in chat, he is experience mac user.
