Who else does nude night walks in the neighborhood?

  If I cant sleep at night and I havent got the mail, its a 1/2 block down the street. The neighborhood has light polls outside of every house. So its damn bright so I dont wander to far.

  I wouldn't ever walk down my street naked, even at night. My neighborhood is too densely populated and urban and I would most likely run into somebody, an there is a significant Muslim population, many of whom are very conservative, and I'm sure that wouldn't go over too well. However, I have a high enough privacy fence in my back yard that I sometimes go out (if it's a warm enough night) and lay out on my hammock in the nude. Feels good to feel the warm night air on your skin.

  About every average size town's running trail, at night, you will see nude people. I started when I saw a woman, at sunset, running with only sneakers. I tried to catch up but she was too fast. Then i tried biking, walking or jogging naked on a trail. It was about 2 am. I was biking one time and turned a bend. I almost hit a woman. She was very nice. She acted like she did not know she was naked. We talked and she told me her lifestyle. She said she is always naked at home. With young kids, she does not have time for herself. So when her kids go to sleep she comes outside and do something like walking. So she walks almost everynight naked on the trail.
  I met 2 other women whike running.

  A few years ago, especially during covid lockdowns I'd head out for a nude walk any time after about 11.00pm. Despite living in a warm climate it was most exhilarating in the winter - needed to maintain some pace to keep warm.

  I crossed paths with only a couple of people, who were clothed. I just kept walking like I wasn't nude. Nothing ever come from those encounters despite our no nudity laws here. I guess they didn't recognise me or know where I live.

  But times change and now nearly every house has a door bell camera or some small home cctv set up. Its too risky to get out there and not wind up in court.

  Many years ago when still living in Melbourne (Australia) my wife & I had been out at a friends house and walked home. It was a hot night and we had both been drinking, when nearly home I said something like it would be a beautiful night to walk home naked. She dared me so when home I stripped off at the front door and walked around the block, she didn't join me sadly but did take a photo of me walking off into the night, my bare bum on show, not sure where that photo ended up.

  I did it a couple more times but the novelty wore off, we started a family and life changed a bit. Stopped doing it but would not now due to the cameras on houses and the hassles that could follow.

  When I was up early for work I would let the dog out or wander the the rubbish bins a short walk up the road. Most of the time the street is quiet so I next to never got caught.
  Now the neighbours have a security camera facing their gate so I'm not sure how much of the road they can see so I'm less inclined.

The amount of carbon dioxide emissions saved by electric vehicles depends on the source of electricity. If it is heavily coal based, electric vehicles actually result in an increase in CO2 emissions.

Solar energy no longer depends on "massive" government subsidies to exist, as falling technology costs have made it economically competitive in many regions. However, it still benefits significantly from government support to speed up deployment and reduce upfront costs, particularly in residential settings. Any electrical device that gets its energy from coal powered electric generators will have a carbon footprint. Any electrical device that runs on renewables has zero carbon footprint. Its that simple,

What about the carbon released during the manufacture and transportation of that electrical device. Especially if made in a high carbon economy on the far side of the world and transported to its final destination. You cant just discount all that. And then the current marketing fad for 100% green tariffs is just a con. Your electricity supplier might claim they only buy clean renewable energy but that doesnt mean that is what you are consuming. For one where does your electricity come from in the middle of a cold, dark, windless night? It will be nuclear and fossil fuel. And if the nearest generating source to you is a gas powered generator that is where much of your electricity is coming from even if there is plenty of wind and solar elsewhere. That is how the physics of distribution grids work. Not denying the benefits and need for clean renewable energy. But there is a lot of hype masking some of the realties. Eg here in the UK wind generators in the north often get turned off because they are generating too much. Because the grid cant get the power to where it is needed. So although, in theory, the country could be 100% renewable powered they are still running gas generators in other read to cover the demand.

The problem is the carbon, as we burn more we create more, Oceans warm.

So you end up paying them to do nothing. No you cant ignore the carbon footprint of manufacture and shipping it all counts. I live in the UK. Buying a device manufactured in the UK rather than China will have a smaller carbon footprint. I am on what my supplier tries to convince me is a 100% renewable tariff. But the electricity that comes into my house is not guaranteed to be 100% renewable. One I am a long way from the wind plants in the north, gas plants are far closer, so are interconnects from Europe. The national grid has a website that displays the makeup of your electricity in a semi real time manner. Thus winter our electricity has routinely been 80% from gas generation. That is despite wind turbines in other parts of the country being forced to shut down as they cant get the power to where it is needed. 100% renewable tariff, they are having a joke.
