Not trying to be provocative or anything.... but why are there so many nude gay guys in TN? I'm not uncomfortable with it, it's the same at beaches. I just always wonder why. Is there a larger proportion of nudists gay than in the overall community?

traildocAug 12, 2018Interesting question. To be honest I hadn't noticed. I tend to chat with people and enjoy conversation. But, I do think the previous post is correct regarding the number of "straight" men that want to talk sex with me and ask me to watch their videos, which I don't. It is strange how we label people and make assumptions about them before we even get to know them as individuals. And this reminds me of a story:
a man is driving down a deserted highway and his car breaks down. Unfortunately, he left home in a hurry and doesn't have his cell phone with him. As it's getting on to night he's not sure what to do. He sees a light coming from a farm house in the distance and decides to go ask the farmer if he can borrow use his phone to call for help. So he starts off through the field. On his way he starts having a conversation with himself....
I wonder if anyone is home? Maybe they won't answer the door since they don't know me. Maybe they'll think I'm going to rob them.
But, I'm a nice person. I wouldn't rob anyone or take advantage of them.
True, but they don't know that. And it is late at night. They may not trust someone coming in the dark of night to their door.
But, I'm really very trustworthy. Everyone knows that.
Yes, but you might frighten then,
Well, they have no right to be frightened of me.
But it's late and dark and you're a stranger.
Well, so what I'm kind and generous and a very nice person. Just what kind of person would think that way of ME?The conversation continues like this as he walks up to the house. By now he's feeling very put upon that a stranger would see him as anything other than sweetness and kindness personified.
He knocks on the door and the farmer opens it. "Good evening", he says. "Can I help you? We don't often get visitors this time of the day."
Well the man is so upset that he looks the farmer in the eye and says. "I wouldn't use your phone even if you asked." and storms back to his car.I don't know if the story fits the thread, but I think it does speak to how we make assumptions about other people and that can get us in a pickle .

Are gay men not allowed to be nudists/naturists ? Don't assume that because another man is gay that he is after every slice of penis going as that is simply not the case. It may make you uncomfortable, but that is your problem !
True Nudists is a website, your going to see pictures of penis' and vagina on almost every profile, where is the problem in that ? This is a nudist site after all ! It's not as though another man is dangling his wedding tackle in front of your face.
You also seem to be forgetting human nature, and as much as some people will deny it, EVERYONE looks at another naked body on a beach or any place there is nudity, it's in our nature to look and please don't try to tell me otherwise.
Gay men are not all cock hounds ! You are always going to get those that spoil it for everyone else, whether they are gay, straight, or bi, it's just the way some people are, your not going to change that, you either ignore them or tell them to bugger off !
If you want to know and understand about gay people on here, speak to those of us that are gay and you might just realise that the preconceived idea of what gay men are is not what they actually are.
I will also add my apology to the gentleman that started this discussion, I had misread your words. I still stand by what I say above.ReactReply - BR
Brett RapleyAug 12, 2018
Many on here are more interested in sexual thrills. Nudism is a good way to exhibit themselves in order to release sexual tension.
And here you are yet again MOW ! Assuming you know what the hell you are talking about when you don't. For your information, it's not just gay guys that are interested in sexual thrills, you need to read some of the comments by the so called straight fraternity on here as they are no bleedin different to anyone else. So instead of being a smart mouth, try doing a bit of research before you flap your lips and get it wrong yet again. There are many ways for all of us to get out sexual thrills, not simply nudist beaches and seeing other naked bodies, what the hell do you think the internet is for ? As from a post I read a few days back on here "if you can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all".ReactReply - ST
SteveAug 12, 2018One reason may be that gay guys have had a different life history. Each of us has been forced into a reckoning with our sexuality (of course), with our bodies, with our relationship to society and its expectations, that is optional for straight folks. As troublesome as that process can be, it's also freeing; it's a journey that forces you to leave some of your baggage behind. Getting comfortable with nudism requires a similar shedding of baggage, and gays are already partway there.

Brett RapleyAug 12, 2018
It CLEARLY says he is NOT uncomfortable with it, so why the bashing???
If you look at his question in a certain context, it actually becomes irrelevant. What about all the bisexual/straight people that pass and make comments that are more than a little suggestive in their context ? You only have to read some of the messages etc on profiles or in these forums to realise that some are most certainly after more than they are admitting to, unless some people are that blind that they can't read between the lines of others words ! Main point here, regardless of whether it's gay people he is going on about, he is no different to anyone else and will have had a look at almost every naked body he has ever seen whether that be on a beach, online or anywhere else. It does not matter that he not uncomfortable with it, perhaps a lot of people on here should take a look at the sister site of TN, True Swingers, because a lot of you will have your eyes opened by some of the friends you have on here that are also on their and they are most certainly not afraid to voice their likes etc.ReactReply - ST
SteveAug 12, 2018Yes, there are lots of guys on here who are into sexual stuff as part of their TN involvement, and into sexual stuff around pix of other guys - and most of them don't check the "gay" box. I don't think those are the people the OP has in mind. There truly is a high proportion of members whoidentifyopenly as gay, and if anything they are less prone to creepy behavior than other members are.ReactReply - BR
BryantAug 12, 2018The reason that there are so many gays on this site is that they profess to be nudist. They are being honest as to who they are, there are many who check n/a or straight to avoid revealing who they really are. The original post "Why so many gay guys?" to me indicates that someone is uncomfortable, but this is a website and not a locked room so the paranoia seems unwarranted. However, if the poster was just curious as to why I think I already answered that. My question would be why so few women? I have seen profile by women that receive a multitude of lewd comments by the so-called straight members and that causes them to cancel their account. This is supposed to be a nudist site and not a strip club and I find that type of behavior offensive. We need to behave like the adults that we are. Sorry, I didn't mean to start a rant, it just sorta came out.
The bottom line is that the people are on here because they are members and they want to be a part of the group. The question is akin to asking why so many gays shop at Wal*Mart.ReactReply - JO
JohnAug 12, 2018
One reason may be that gay guys have had a different life history. ..Getting comfortable with nudism requires a similar shedding of baggage, and gays are already partway there.
Well said. This is my point of view, also. And I think that journey makes us more willing to bend sociatal norms about things like social nudity.
But, I also think there is a statistical basis (although I have no data to back up my assumption). I think there are more men in general who identify as nudists and I would guess that at least some of the married or partnered straight men who might identify as nudist and be on TN aren't because of non-nudist partners.ReactReply - ST
SteveAug 12, 2018Just two cents worth of reassurance to the OP: You've asked a fair question. Musing about why the TN population skews older, or male, or white, doesn't make me ageist, or sexist, or racist, and musing about the prevalence of gays doesn't make you a homophobe.

Tom DAug 12, 2018Perhaps because male nudity in an all male setting, is, or at least was, generally accepted, It is easier for gay men to be comfortable being nude in a communal setting.

SteveAug 13, 2018Aug . 12 , 2018 .
Because Gay guys generally aren't ashamed to admit they enjoy being naked . Like everyone here on Truenudists . we all enjoy being naked in some form and fashion .
These men are also not ashamed to admit to others on this site that they are Gay . Big whoop . So they are ........
Nudity is nudity , Being naked is who we are at some point in our daily life , or while doing daily activities , and is just what we are , and how we like to be , if we are willing to be honest .
Only a few people know I'm a nudist , and that I like being naked when possible . Those who know , know . And everyone else is on a ' If they need to know ' basis . Which means most don't know .

ZekeAug 13, 2018To many of the places and activities I go to be nude for men only, I find that I'm the only male that is married to a female. Over the years, I'm finding that married males that are nudists to the pure, don't care about the orientation of the other males. If all are nudist and enjoy nudism, then what you do behind closed doors doesn't matter. Where the 'issue' comes into the equation is when males have other 'ideas' of what nudism is for, regardless of their orientation, that those that are not sure of what nudism is get the wrong impression of nudity. Then they will be left with the idea that is all about the 'sex' and never step back into nudism. They then cast a wide judgement that those were 'gays' not realizing that there were mixed, married/partner/single males in the room.
I've also found that, like others have stated, gay men accept nudism more easily than 'straight' men because of the above situation, or the non nudist individuals 'heard' about what goes on in nude activities. Some even get the idea that if they are with gay men nude, they will be subject to stuff or even be 'converted'.
There is nothing wrong with nudism, regardless of sexual orientation and when it's kept to that, it's a wonder experience. A lot of profile, many leave orientation blank. Does it really matter what the orientation is? To me, no, it's who you are that matters. I've got some wonderful friends that are male oriented only and have never crossed that line, same can be said about bi guys and straight. In turn, I've had experiences with individuals that leave me to question why they are on here for more than been a nudist, and again it's all three, gay/bi/str8.
So why so many gay guys, maybe it's that they are proud of been gay and say so, while those bi and straight, can't say the same.ReactReply - MT
Mike TaylorAug 13, 2018Why does it mater? Gay, streight or bi who cares ? This a nudist site not a sex site.
ReactReply - JE
JeffAug 13, 2018Exactly. So for me (being straight) if I make friends with a nudist female it would be on a non-sexual basis because I am here looking to meet fellow nudists who share my love of the lifestyle. Same thing applies to becoming friends with a gay man, it would be on a nudist basis only so why discriminate?

JeffAug 16, 2018
I don't really know how many Gay guys are in here, but it is very clear, just as it is in any other naturist/sex website the ratio of men to women would have to be around 4-1 or even more, and this is VERY clearly seen if you go into the stupid chat room in this website, barely ever see many women, and even if i was a woman i would never bother going in there for reasons i think most of you already know, its a pit full of creepy guys who are here for the wrong reasons, and why so many guys sit there naked on their cams is another mystery to me, what is the point in doing it, are they hoping that there may be a woman watching them, or are they the gay ones.
Well it is a _nudist_ site so being naked on the webcam is pretty much normal for us. Nothing creepy about it.ReactReply - TRTravelingnudist123Aug 16, 2018
Having been married 36 years to my wife and having been a nudist that past 5 with her, Ive seen a lot and changed a lot myself quite frankly. In all due respect, I am not at all opposed to what other peoples relationships are, who cares in fact, Ive stayed at men only resorts alone on my way south and have had a great time. I love the different perspective and personalities we all bring to the table. Im not so much locked in a box that Im not interested in various viewpoints, gay, bi, straight or otherwise. Weve been to many nudist resorts, a few lifestyle clubs and each is interesting and really adds to our own relationship. So for me, its a silly question, who cares!

What changed? Where has he been hiding?
Well Well Thomas, Yes, I added my interpretation. MOW's choice of words is completely wrong and out of order ! It was not a statement of fact, it's the exact opposite. If I wanted to get sexual gratification, I certainly would not be looking on TN for that, as this site is about naturism and nudity and being a part of that community. You can call what I say on this forum anytime you like, it has nothing to do with me stirring things up, it's about some people on here being so god damn negative ! There are no set rules or regulations with respect to anyone being naked in a given or certain environment(s), nor is it the right of some old duffer to think he has the right to correct anyone on here or voice his smart ass remarks as to what he thinks any gay men on here is for. I don't need a new hobby. You and I have messaged on here away from the forums and we had no problems conversing that way, I asked perfectly normal and relevant questions of you and you replied back, so in that respect I have not changed. Attitudes on here have, and more so with the older generation and a fair few of the American nudists, who think they invented the rule book that is non existent on nudity/naturism. With regards to MOW's stupid words, where on this planet does he think I or any other gay man is going to get a sexual release from looking at nude guys on a nudist site ? What the hell do you think porn sites are for ? You and MOW might of of the older generation, but even you guys need to get with the times and realise things have changed, whether you like it or not. With all due respect, you and MOW can't tell me that you both don't look at profiles, specially those of couples or naked women and are not turned on or excited by what you see ? If you tell me your not your both lying your asses off. A simple thing called common courtesy goes a long way with people, it always has, it does not make a blind bit of difference if a guy asked about boners or plucking his eyebrows, the questions are asked by genuine people for genuine reasons. If you and MOW can't be constructive or offer proper and decent advice then kindly keep your mouths shut or view another post. Each time he and you bitch off on a forum comment and I don't agree with your words, I will comment, that's not gonna change. One thing I have noticed about your profile pictures is that, regardless of the fact that you have a penile implant, it makes you look semi erect, and I notice that is most of your pictures, your crotch is thrust slightly forward, so that makes me think, your displaying yourself a little too much, even though, you may actually have a back/spine problem. If all you can do is slag me and others off on here for voicing our opinions over yours and Thomas Tierney's, then I think you should retire from the world of naturism, as it appears that all you and TT do these days is bitch about everything, simply because someone goes against your aged idea's of what you think is right or wrong. One thing I am am certainly not is heterophobic, so I would like to know what gave you that idea ? I may be a raving homo, but that in and of itself does not define who I am as a human being, it's a part of me. If you don't like me responding to your comments on this forum, then don't bother putting your crass words in this forum. If you think anything I say on here to you or TT is me being un-civil, then you have no idea what I am actually capable of saying. You just don't like the fact that I have the balls to confront you and your old fashioned ideals, even Naturism has to evolve, not stay back in the dark ages as you appear to be doing. If you think your single sentence bitchy and derogatory comments are civil or a statement of fact, then you got that wrong. Don't assume to know me in any way because of my words here. Put in basic English. If you cannot be civil and respect the words/choices and questions of others who are new or old hat at being a naturist, then keep your god damn trap door shut. Your negativity is not needed or required, it's people like you that give Naturism/Nudists a bad name. Why is it that you only respond to me and my comments because I have dared to state something to you ? If your man enough then why don't you message me and discuss this man to man ? Or is it that you think you are superior to me ?
