Not trying to be provocative or anything.... but why are there so many nude gay guys in TN? I'm not uncomfortable with it, it's the same at beaches. I just always wonder why. Is there a larger proportion of nudists gay than in the overall community?

Brett RapleyAug 19, 2018
Interesting question. To be honest I hadn't noticed. I tend to chat with people and enjoy conversation. But, I do think the previous post is correct regarding the number of "straight" men that want to talk sex with me and ask me to watch their videos, which I don't. It is strange how we label people and make assumptions about them before we even get to know them as individuals. And this reminds me of a story: a man is driving down a deserted highway and his car breaks down. Unfortunately, he left home in a hurry and doesn't have his cell phone with him. As it's getting on to night he's not sure what to do. He sees a light coming from a farm house in the distance and decides to go ask the farmer if he can borrow use his phone to call for help. So he starts off through the field. On his way he starts having a conversation with himself.... I wonder if anyone is home? Maybe they won't answer the door since they don't know me. Maybe they'll think I'm going to rob them. But, I'm a nice person. I wouldn't rob anyone or take advantage of them. True, but they don't know that. And it is late at night. They may not trust someone coming in the dark of night to their door. But, I'm really very trustworthy. Everyone knows that. Yes, but you might frighten then, Well, they have no right to be frightened of me. But it's late and dark and you're a stranger. Well, so what I'm kind and generous and a very nice person. Just what kind of person would think that way of ME? The conversation continues like this as he walks up to the house. By now he's feeling very put upon that a stranger would see him as anything other than sweetness and kindness personified. He knocks on the door and the farmer opens it. "Good evening", he says. "Can I help you? We don't often get visitors this time of the day." Well the man is so upset that he looks the farmer in the eye and says. "I wouldn't use your phone even if you asked." and storms back to his car. I don't know if the story fits the thread, but I think it does speak to how we make assumptions about other people and that can get us in a pickle .
The story you write above fits perfectly ! Some people make interpretations of others before even making the effort to get to know them.ReactReply - GL

I am not sure if this is the place to enter a comment. The discussion is long, and much has been said, and I probably will add nothing new or of interest to anyone, but perhaos I can thrill myself and get a charge on my on if no one else cares about my point of view.
I am an old man, gay yet still sexually active and interested. Yet it's very well understood I'm not going to attract many men for sex for multiple reasons, age being number one. It is not my intent or interest here to hunt for sex partners, nor look for pics to get off on. My God, I have yet to see one pic that could do that for me, and now I have seen quite a few. Most pics I have see are crudely made, out of focus, poorly lighted, poorly cropped, poorly presented, and look like something a school girl would have made more than 50 years ago. What is here that is sexually arousing.
I joined one month ago, one evening browsing about on the system, when interacting with someone, and in the chat, the fact I was nude came up, and I explained I am a nudist. I explained my past experience, but had never admitted it verbally or to myself before. I went on to admit I had a street of voyeurism but would never violate ones privacy. I was asked if I had been on nudist cites. NO. ...... later I searched and found this. Reluctantly, I joined without having any notion what to find or expect. Here I am. One month of awkwardly stabbing away, trying to learn and meet individuals. Nothing more or less.
Early after thinking, I made some judgement for my pursuit. I'm gay, I like men, I'm attracted to straight and bisexual men and some gay men. I enjoy some women, but not many. I lived a life time with women and tolerated them, but did not like them or their games or political agendas. So why get involved here. I decided to concentrate on those I like and can relate to. Non of this has anything to sexual activity, but simply common ground. I am of the thinking the sexuality plays in all aspects of life and ideally life enters into healthy sexuality. Isolation is in my opinion unhealthy. Do I ever get a boner, you bet you, but seldom is it because of some overt sexual display or innuendo. I can get a boner looking at an original Van Gogh, or many things in life that offer appealing sensuocity. All good art should exude visually appealing sensuocity, and most human bodies do too if and when presented under good condition. Yes I can get a boner looking at women too, but other thing block the desire for sex.
For sure I am her, for one thing, to see male nude bodies, but sex is not a part of that. Other reasons exist, such as dealing with my own self perception, looking at my own naked body, and coming to terms, and finding my own way into the concept of nudity, privately and later publicly.
I suspect gay men in general can relate to some degree, but we all are different. But gay men had to deal with their own nude body from the moment they realized their interests did not match up to the prescribed requirement in society. I doubt any gay man will attack a straight man here or anywhere. Yes many are rude and act out badly just as many straight guy do and have, but usually only when they feel safe enough, mostly anonymously. They are to be ignored or at worst punished for bad behavior.

I would like to point out a kettle something here about sexual thrills.
I learned something many years ago. " Nothing and no one is as they appear or purport to be.
Gay people often times make comments and gestures that appear or sound to be sexual come ones, but these come out many times as reactions of fear, embarrassment, shyness, awkwardness, nervousness, and or just not knowing what to say, especially in from of someone they like, respect, want the attention of, etc., etc.
Dogs often times mount the legs of human beings, but that in no terms means they are sexually attracted or are in love withbperson or leg but is often times a display of nervous excitement.
So straight man, don't let your ego go to your HEAD, it's likely not what you hope it to be. You just might not be that appealing.
Sorry, just joking a bit, but to make a point. I would never want to offend you guys or anyone.

And now we know all the scientific studies are wrong. The world is full of gays, bisexuals, curious, etc. The 10 to 15% is just wrong. In 1970s when I came out as gay, I made the comment that the whole world is gay, those who are denying it, those who are figuring it out, those who know butbwontbtel, those who are out in all their flaming colorful glory, and those few who are not, could not be, but wish they we're! It was just meant to be my reaction to the surprise to find so many much like me and for so many years I thought I was the only one, all alone, and a horrible misfit, mistake, genetically corrupted piece of feces who would never be loved or respected or accepted and everything about my life was makebelief and lies. Today, anyone who is insulted by my existence, first I say to he'll with you, second I say let's compare my life, my achievement, my contributions to society, and see who ranks best. You compete with me, you walk half a mile in my shoes, and then say I don't belong.

Bjorn SmestadOct 15, 2018First of all, the question "Why so many gay guys?" could be turned around: "Why so few straight guys?" To me, that is a more interesting question: how come so many straight guys (and gals) are brought up to be non-naturists, and continue being non-naturists all their lives?
Secondly, I believe part of the answer is to be found in the experiences of youth. Lots of straight people grow up without ever being naked with people of the opposite sex. Thus, being naked with people of the opposite sex (which is, for them, also the people they are sexually interested in), become associated with shame and with sexuality. I have straight friends who claim that they do not dare to go to a nude beach out of a fear that they will get an erection when they see a naked person of the opposite sex. Moreover, there is a social stigma connected to naturism in many localities.
For gays, the situation is quite different. Gay men grow up being naked with people of the same sex all the time. Thus, they learn the easy way that being naked together with people they may be sexually attracted to, is not really connected to sex. Also, gay men learn, through hours of locker room time through their youth, that they will not get an erection simply by seeing a naked person of the same sex. Or if they do, it's not too difficult to hide it in most circumstances. Going to a nude beach is no big deal, as nudity is already normal. (Of course, adding some nude women to the mix of people they see is not going to cause trouble.) Also, out gay men have already faced a bigger social stigma than naturism, and have made the decision to be themselves, in spite of the social consequences. Then, "coming out" as a naturist is not such a big deal.
So my maybe controversial opinion is that gay men (and women) grow up having a more healthy relationship to their bodies than straight men (and women), as straight people are brought up to believe that being naked with people of the sex that you are sexually attracted to, is shameful and frightening. (Of course, I'm not talking on an individual basis, there will be lots and lots of exceptions to this "rule".)
What are other explanations for why there are so few straight people here?

MusicGuy1Jan 21, 2019because society looks down on a female if they think she sleeps around. = less females willing to go nude.
because if a legit female got on here with nudes she would get like 300 messages in 2 days.
so you get mostly guys here then since more guys are here its a good place for gays to look for guys they may like.
was same way in real life. saw 8 guys (half being gay) before you see one woman.

LuisOct 29, 2020There is nothing wrong if there are alot of men that are gay in this site. I know many gay men that enjoy being nude as well. Just as a straight male nudist doesn't get excited in the nudist setting around people because it not about being sexual, would be the same for a gay male as well. No matter what each preference is we are all here for the same thing, the joy of being and living nude as well as experiencing the nudist lifestyle with others.
Not trying to be provocative or anything.... but why are there so many nude gay guys in TN? I'm not uncomfortable with it, it's the same at beaches. I just always wonder why. PaulNov 4, 2020I'm not gay, and I am not at all interested in the lifestyle, but also not opposed to socializing with guys who swing that way. Just as long as being gay does not solely define them (like being a militant gay activist), then we're fine. If someone comes off as a militant gay activist, I go the other way. Same as anyone who has some kind of political or social axe to grind. I have no time for that.
With that said, I hadn't really noticed the disproportionate number of gay men here until your post caused me to look around through new lenses. You're right. This site appears to be mostly gay men, and that also might explain some of the threads and titles that dominate the forums here.

JohnNov 5, 2020I'm not sure that this site is truly mostly gay men, although I expect that most of the people who post on this particular thread are gay. As for the rest, it's interesting how many men identify themselves as "bi-curious" or "bisexual." From what I've gathered from their posts, they are often older men who always thought they were straight until they got into their fifties and sixties and found themselves re-evaluating their inclinations.
And my experience with younger men is that they're far more likely to come out as gay or bi now than young men did a generation or two ago. There are more role models around to emulate on TV, the movies, or in politics, and there's less of a stigma attached to it. I consider that a very good thing.
What I'm wondering is how many of the "gay" or "bi" posters on this site are really straight men trying on this identity for size to see what reaction they get. Like that cartoon of a dog looking at a computer monitor and saying, "On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog."

SteveNov 9, 2020
Is that the right question? Isn't the real question why are so little women and straight men a member of truenudists?
Indeed. And that one's easy - A sizeable fraction of the straight men harass the women right off the site, and then find little to do here but interact with fake profiles and browse for pics. Gays treat each other better than that, so the site works better for us. (Yes, guys might get creepy contact from gay men - but it's a tiny fraction of the creepers the women get from straights. )ReactReply - MI

ZekeNov 9, 2020
Quit judging and accept peoplefor who they are....
Many here have brought up some good points but I have to agree, stop judging individuals without having known them. I have many friends from all backgrounds and orientations. To use a 'one size fits all' or to be putting individuals in a 'box' for stating the way are, in many cases eliminate possible good individuals that could be a welcome friend. Yes be cautions but not close minded. For the record, I have more closer males friends that are gay then straight, it's the way it is, I don't question it. However I've had more 'issues' with straight men than those that say they are incline to 'like' men, why I don't care to know. "like being a militant gay activist"...oh wow...amazing how freely people express their bigotry. As some one who grew up nude, I never learned to care about someones orientation. Nudism for me was not about asking people if they are gay or str8 or anything. People are free to be themselves and that includes being a "militant gay activist" because without them people would never have gained the human rights they now have. Nudism is all about freedom and not bigotry. Please consider what you are going to post and how hurtful your words can be to others. There is nothing wrong with being gay, bi, str8, trans, queer, or asexual etc. Everyone is free to be themselves and express themselves as they wish. I would hope people would have the freedom from such needless posts attacking gay people who are also here on this forum. Nudists exist in every category...let us respect that.
