Nude on my Balcony

I live in an apartment on the 6th-floor of the building. It's got a balcony, and I really want to step outside on it naked, but I'm worried.
The railing is made of bars, so if someone actually can see me, they'll definitely also see that I'm not wearing pants in this hypothetical situation.

If I went naked on my balcony, what do you think the odds are of people seeing me this high up? I really want to do it, but not if people can see me.

Simply hang a bedsheet or blanket over the railing to cover you from the waist down and most won't notice if you are nude or not.
Well.... I you say you want to do it but not be seen and you are telling us that people can easily see you on your balcony you have the answer: Don't do it.
Yeah, I suppose that was pretty obvious. I just thought maybe being high up at a distance....... I don't know.
Simply hang a bedsheet or blanket over the railing to cover you from the waist down and most won't notice if you are nude or not.
That's an idea. I might do that. Thanks.

I will be very surprised if anybody will look up that high and let alone realise you are nude and if you can have a look up yourself from the ground to see if you think you can see anything. Otherwise it will be people who have windows/balconies at the same height/higher you will have to look out for if they are close enough to look into your balcony.

Have a look at this block of flats and decide if the top floor had a balcony will you be able to tell if s/he was nude or not. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.0225087,-3.0943995,3a,75y,85.79h,117.04t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sRZyOFzVGbvO4rDeEadg__Q!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo1.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DRZyOFzVGbvO4rDeEadg__Q%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D6.9512305%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656

Was nude on our private balcony on the ship this morning. At the pool now so I am unfortunately wearing a swimsuit. Going to lunch soon. Since this ship doesn't have pool side dining, I will have to put on a shirt and shoes too!
Since your apartment is on the sixth floor, there is really very little chance anyone at street level would notice that you were nude on your balcony. If there are apartments across or next to you at the same level it would probably be a good idea to put something up to block the view of the lower portion of the balcony. Probably should've said this from the beginning, Across the street from my balcony are two-story houses. I can see far into the distance, but that makes me worried that anyone in the distance can see me too.
Well who in the distance will be interested in looking at a block of flats to see you naked anyway.

No balcony, but we were nude at the pool and the buffet on the pool deck... and everywhere else on the ship except the main dining room.

We don't have a balcony, but we do have a deck on the back of our house. Our neighbors on either side are at the same height, so they can see onto our deck from their decks. The houses behind ours are slightly higher up than ours, but the leaves on our trees do help block their view some.I ended up buying cardboard room dividers and just put them around the deck to block the view. See the picture for an idea of what we did.

It works. Have you though about curtain type material hung like curtains? Or some potted plants mixed in?

We have. This is what we want to eventually get to, once our test planters with 4"x4" beams have shown themselves to last through the winter:

Depending on where you're located... be careful, some areas have very strict exposure laws. Here's a November 2019 case where a pilot was charged for being nude in his hotel room with the curtains open. The case was dismissed, but still his room was raised by police. He was getting changed after a shower and took a phone call. He wasn't aware that ppl could see into his 10th Floor room.

No-brainer. There are great mesh products that will block the view of you, if attached around the railing, but allow you to see through. Don't like mesh? Go to a home improvement store, go to the bathroom or window section. There will be full sheets of frosted plastic. Measure your railing all the way around ahead of time. Places like Home Depot will cut it to size. Now, drill small holes all around the outside edges, buy some zip ties and zip tie it to your railing. Now you have a private oasis and nobody's the wiser

How tall is the balcony rail? If it's waist-high, it seems you could put some sort of "privacy screen" on it, as I've seen on many balconies in both the US and Europe. Or would that be against the regulations that your building has on that sort of thing?

    Rail is almost waist high.
I have 3 beach towels with me that I could hang on it.
    That should provide enough privacy.

I can't speak for others, but part of the reason I like to be nude is the liberating feeling I get rejecting the arbitrary societal norm that human nudity is shameful. We are born naked, shower naked, bath naked, love naked, conceive naked and for women, give birth to naked live, naked. Arguably clothes have benefits and we do have arbitrary laws from state to state that you need to consider, but I would suggest you simply buy inexpensive privacy screens and then enjoy your balcony. If you have take precautions to block the wandering eye from the street, then anyone else it interested in seeing you and crossing into your private domain which you might find annoying or flattering so long as they are not a pervert.

Then other thing you might try is find a safe local near you where other nudist go (beach, resort, lake, trail, etc.). Take a friend (male or female) and be nude with other nudists. If you are like so many of us, your inhibition and fear of being seen will disappear in seconds/minutes when you know you are amount non-judgmental nudist friends.

I hope you figure it out. I have been a nudes for 30+ years and was introduced to the lifestyle by two women I worked with who ask me to join them at the beach similar to my suggestion above. I was worried about shrinkage, erection, competition, etc. for about 20 seconds and then I realized everyone else was nude and enjoying themself with or without me. My presence really didn't matter because it was not about sex, it was about liberty to be you.

Instead of a bed sheet, use some bamboo roll and put that around the railing and maybe some plants along the edge if you have the room make it look nice for you.

Privacy screens have come way down in price. We had some custom made for our old balcony, but you can now get pre-made 3' x 16' screens for $25 on Amazon. Just search for "balcony privacy screen".

Perhaps this is obvious, but get down to waist level and see what you can see. If you can't see anything, no one can see you. Note where you can and can't see, and what you can see. At higher levels the deck floor itself blocks a lot of the view from below. For simple sunbathing simply putting a towel on the chair/lounge rail may suffice- wear the towel out and then drape it.
