I am planning my very first trip to a naturist resort. The resort is family friendly, but do allow singes. My question for the more experienced members is: How did you deal with the fact that you will be nude in front of children? I understand that my body is certainly nothing special, and that as family nudists, the children have seen more naked bodies in their short lives than I have in my entire lifetime, but the thought is still a bit......uncomfortable. Advice?

Now if you had nefarious thoughts, that would make me absolutely cringe! I see very few children when I go. I love young children energy, makes me smile and remember when I raised mine many years ago. What is the old saying? Youth is wasted on the young. lolReactReply

May 20, 2026If you find yourself actually interacting with a kid, make some effort to interact with a parent as well, if only to identify them and make brief eye contact and exchange a smile. Otherwise, just realize that you are an entirely invisible part of the background to a kid.

May 20, 2026For me...
If i do not know them i ask the parent if they are ok with the child interacting with me. Never had a no because i always check first.ReactReply - J.
May 20, 2026The kids literally won't give a thought that everyone (including themselves) are nude. The youngest ones haven't even been taught society's rules about nudity yet. The older ones know that the resort is a safe place and are used to being nude. The teenagers are probably sitting in a chair in the shade, wrapped in a towel and glued to their phones.
Our resort is family friendly and there are several children there all summer. My only thought seeing them is "I wish my parents had taken me here when I was their age!" All of the members know who the kids are and who their parents are, so we all keep an eye out for them.

MattOriginal PosterMay 20, 2026Oh....there will be nothing nefarious about it in the slightest. I will mostly avoid children, as I do normally. But, as it's my first time being nude in a social setting, it will be an adjustment to start with. Add to that the fact that there will likely be children present (it's a Saturday in the summer), makes it even more of an adjustment. I've never been casually nude in front of anyone, much less a kid. But, I guess you're all right.....they won't even notice as they're so conditioned to adult nudity. It was just something that crossed my mind as I made the reservation. Just one more adjustment to make as I acclimate to the lifestyle.

Yea, most fears stem from thinking too much. Just treat it as going to any resort that has their special rules. You just don't have to wear clothes.

MattOriginal PosterMay 21, 2026Thank you....that basically summed up my concern. It's like being nude in front of adults will be weird at first....but, whatever. Children is a different matter....But, them thinking nothing of it will be much easier. Thanks!!

Overall, just go wirh the flow and adapt to whatever seems like the social forms for the place you're at. I would love to know how you're first visit goes. Feel free to update afterwards. : )

So it was nothing special for me being nude in present of adult nude people. So it was also nothing special to go the essential one more step.ReactReply

Based on my first experience at a coed nude beach it's not new to any children if there are any there. Once you get there even if you feel shy at first you will realize that nobody is really looking at you as if it is anything unusual and you will relax and feel totally comfortable.

Jun 2, 2026The truth is that the kids couldnt care less about you or anything else other than whatever activity it is they are doing in the moment. They usually dont give a sh*t that they or anyone else is nude. If they are around 6 or 7 years old they may look at naked people a little more because they are starting to understand about their genitals but its in a curiosity way and nothing else. There are many, like my children, who may be standoffish if an adult they dont know were to approach them. I would suggest you dont do that unless invited by the parents. In reality, though, theyre not going to pay much attention to you or anyone else.

MattOriginal PosterJun 8, 2026Thank you all for the advice. I certainly have no plans to approach anyone....I usually avoid kids in every setting lol....so, no problem there. It will just be a bit weird to be visible......but, they're used to it....I'm the one who has to adjust.

Advice?[/quote] As a nudist parent with 3 children who we have been taking to the nudist resort for 4 years now, the best advice I can give you is be polite. Smile at the parents if they look your way, say hello. But for the most part just ignore the kids, I can promise you they aren't interested in getting your attention, they are either wanting to have fun in the pool or looking for their friends. Its truly not as weird as you think its gonna be. Everyone there is there because they enjoy being nude, enjoy being social, enjoy being in the pool...the kids are no different, they are just smaller than us adults. I will say the number 1 rule at our family resort is this, If you don't know the children then you don't talk to them. Do not confront them, don't try to carry on a conversation with them, definitely don't try to put yourself in a position where you are in their personal space..these things can be seen as red flags to the parents right away if you are not a trusted adult they know. In the 4 years we have been going to our resort I've only seen one guy even try anything like what I said, he cornered my oldest and my best friend's child in the pool at night. He was confronted by parents immediately, he tried to play it off as the kids cornered him in the pool and wouldn't let him leave. He then proceeded to act weird around a few of the adult females including one who worked in the office. He was reported to the office the next morning(it was late) and he was removed from the grounds. You may very well feel uncomfortable being nude around other people's children; that's understandable. But I can promise you the kids aren't uncomfortable and unless you're acting weird their parents aren't either, they are just there to have fun. Chat with other adults, read a book, relax in the pool, whatever you would typically do.ReactReply - TD

Jun 19, 2026True. I always feel much more comfortable and relaxed once the clothes come off. The kids are natural nudists. They recognize the freedom way quicker than we do.

They just haven't been taught society's rules to feel shame and embarrassment yet, so they don't think about it at all. Aversion to nudity is not a natural reaction, it is a learned one and it takes time to take hold.ReactReply - TD

Jul 20, 2026It's been a while since I've been to a nudist resort where kids were present. But being a single male, will he find it a problem even getting in to some of these resorts? I know in the past they were often leery of allowing singles in. Especially men. Is that still a thing, or have they loosened up on that?

Granted everyone is given a background check, and any kind of creepy or weird behavior will get you banned from the resort. But there are many single men who visit the resort without issue.ReactReply - TD

Jul 21, 2026I didn't see this follow up question until today: No, minimalist, I still have to work, because even though this isn't the most expensive place to live, there must be income. I have taken a clothed job where I can set my own schedule and take time off whenever the need/want is there. Yes, the clothes totally suck, but time flexibility is much more important in my life now. When it comes to working here, I really miss the customers the most, and getting to talk to people who've never thought much about social nudism until they called the resort and I answered the phone. We'd get some weirdos calling, of course, forcing us to have to hang up on them or to even block some phone numbers - the ones who would call back and ask the same sexually-suggestive questions/make the same inappropriate comments; most everyone was respectful and enthusiastic, and even excited to know something like a family nude resort could be found in Virginia. A few who found out we, God forbid, allow children to be nude around adults, were totally flabbergasted and offended and would immediately hang up. Some people just don't - and never will - get it. With some well-placed radio commercials and the internet, we had a very successful Open House, weekend before last ~ forty-two brand new bare sets of buns came through the gate, and some have already visited again! As to single men (or women) who come here without calling first, they are typically allowed to stay for the day, but told they must call the resort before coming on any future visits or take the chance of being turned away. With busy weekend days, the management does have a quota system in place, where only a certain number of singles are allowed, and when that number is reached, no more are admitted. This is in place to keep the pool area from starting to look like a singles retreat, with the resort catering more to families and couples than singles. While I was working in the office, we never, ever filled the quota for single women, but some men were told over the phone they could not visit that day. Additionally, married men who come to the resort without their wives (and vice-versa, as well as any gays who are not with their committed partners), they areusuallyallowed to stay for the day but are told they cannot return without their partner on their next visit. The word 'usually' is underlined because the rules are somewhat fluid, depending on everything from who is checking them in to other mitigating circumstances such as whether they are AANR members visiting from out-of-state on business. Other factors come into play - for example, a guy says he's not married when he's in registration but office staff notice he's wearing a wedding ring or has a tan line on his ring finger, or word gets back to the office that someone claiming to be single is heard talking about a wife once he's been released into the resort. Liars about such things will be shown the exit and banned from returning. Divorcees will be required to bring a divorce decree. Also, solo parents with children will need legal court documentation that verifies they have sole custody of those kids as well. Litigation is nothing any resort ever wants to become involved in, and management should go to great lengths to avoid it. Other resorts have other rules, along with different states having specific laws, making it imperative that a phone call always precedes a drive to someplace new.
