Great group of people. Unfortunately, too far away for us to benefit as members. I promised Jonathan (he says hi, btw) that I would get the word out about saving Light House Beach. Depending on the severity of your infection this could be corrupted before you even finish the download. Sorry for the off topic.ReactReply

According to FINS personnel, the National Park Service may decide to close the beach entirely to nude use or limit it to a small section well past the Fire Island Lighthouse, with limited accessibility (and making access virtually impossible for those of us who may be older or handicapped).www.savelighthousebeach.orgThanks! My apologies Jen and Steve, I can't find any way to start a new topic, probably have to be certified. I'll respond to the members who were kind enough to take the time to send helpful links, then abandon this thread. I sincerely hope you get the help you're looking for regarding Light House beach.....if we lived close by, we'd be more than happy to donate our time.
Jack Neilson, the link you sent gives me a blank page. As NudeinMass inferred, some of this crap actually blocks sites than can help clear your machine out, and I think we definitely got the pennicillin-resistant strain. Looks terminal for Typhoid Mary here.
NudeinMass, your link gave me the server not found jive. This machine is running on three flats, time to trade up as soon as next month's nuptials are behind us. One of the reasons we're leaning towards a laptop is the fact it's mobile, and there are many wireless hotspots in the city we live in. You see, judging by some of your posts, I think you and I share a similar political philosophy. LIsten to talk radio much? I do, nearly every day. During the winter months Boston and NYC come in very clear on the car radio, but not so much as the days lengthen. Laptop plus carjack will solve that. Started off with Rush Limbaugh many more years ago than I care to admit, now listen to Mark Levin, Howie Carr and some Savage. Folks I am shamelessly bumping this topic back to the top of the forum. Light House Beach is in serious danger of losing it's nude status. You don't have to be nearby to help. Just join the petition. The petition MUST have a minimum number of names on it to hold any weight with the NPS. We've met in person the people who are rallying to save light house beach and they are working doggedly and tirelessly to maintain the status quo of Light House Beach. Give them a hand if you've ever enjoyed a day at Light House, currently spend time there or at anytime in the future may want to spend a day there.

- MEMemberOriginal PosterApr 17, 2011Following is a snippet from the Save Light House Beach News Letter:Lighthouse Beach Ordered Closed to Clothing Optional Use; Closure Order Later ReversedClothing optional users of Lighthouse Beach dodged a bullet earlier this year when the clothing optional status of the beach was withdrawn by the National Park Service and then subsequently reestablished on a conditional basis. While the beach (except for the central portion in front of the lighthouse) is now slated to remain clothing optional this coming summer, that was very nearly not the case. According to officials of the National Park Service, the order was issued at the end of 2010 to shut the beach down to clothing optional use, based on the volume of illegal incidents that took place on the beach during the previous summer. In mid-December, 2010, as one of his final acts before leaving his position, the outgoing Chief Ranger of the Fire Island National Seashore officially made the decision to change the FINS policy and issued the order to shut down the beach to clothing optional use. The closure order was ratified by the FINS Superintendent, who has final authority over all matters of use within his jurisdiction. It was not until a month later, at the initiative and urging of the incoming Acting Chief Ranger, that the Superintendent approved a reversal of the previous order and authorized the re-establishment of clothing optional use of the beach, on the condition that clothing optional use of the beach be reviewed on an annual basis from now on. Had the Acting Chief Ranger not taken the steps he did, we are told that signs would have gone up in the spring announcing that bathing suits would now be required on the beach and that New York State nudity laws would be enforced. It is only due to his intervention, in mid-January, that we were in essence granted a one-year reprieve.However, an official cautioned, the Superintendent could still close the beach to clothing optional use at any time during the course of the summer if there are too many incidents of illegal behavior, without having to wait for a year-end review.*********************************************************** That last bit is important folks. If you want to keep this nude beach open REFRAIN from illegal activities on the beach. It is under SERIOUS scrutiny. Take it one step further and ask any one you see who IS participating in illegal activities to STOP. Here is serious proof that what is really killing our clothing optional beaches are those who insist they can do whatever they want, anywhere they want. If you were to pull this crap on a textile beach you would be arrested. If you pull it on a c/o beach not only are you subject to arrest, you WILL get the beach closed down. ThomasApr 17, 2011Thanks for the update Jen. Your comment about illegal activity causing nude beaches to be closed is right on the money. Lewd behavior at the nude beach I do to is rare, partly because the regulars there are quick to say something to someone being inappropriate.

Glad to hear that Jen. It sounds as though the men who will be frequenting this beach will need to take things into their own hands when they see illicit behaviour going on. Self policing can do wonders if done right. It's a watershed moment for this beach, if certain activities cause the authorities to ban C/O use once again, they won't reverse themselves a second time. And they'll be watching, trust me. I really regret my wife and I aren't able to use this beach, I welcome a confrontation when it's truly warranted.
