i love avalon: it's location and the beautiful hills in paw paw,wv are a true setting for relaxation! their lodge has a great fire place to relax to also. the locals make you feel at home! also on my list is white thorn lodge in darlington,pa. the pool area is great for lounging along with the hot tub, both outdoors. large camping area and nice locals that greet you throughout!

But I want to echo the sentiments expressed here: Avalon continues to be a great place -- I've been getting up there regularly for the last decade (already) and I always have a good time: lots of fun social action if I'm looking for it, lots of space to chill out if I need to be naked but alone. The sun is great in the summer (it can get chilly at night, though); and the fire in the lodge is always going and always warm in winter. I, too, heartily recommend it!

Cheri Donna DawsonMay 16, 2010Avalon's dining room is great as are the folk I met while visitng a couple of times. I did like the idea of not going outside - the last time was August or Sept. and it was too hot outside. :)
