  It is not legal there.  However, if you want to work towards getting is so, join in the beach cleanups.

  I have herd if you go to the north end the rangers don't bother you. just wondering if anyone had been.

  I was at Assateague several years ago. I went way north of the State Beach and met several other nude beachgoers there. There was no problem with Rangers while I was there, but some of the others told me to watch to see if a ranger was coming and then put on shorts just in case. It's very easy to see a long way down the beach, so I don't think there is much danger.
  
  There was a group trying to get it legalized, but the last i heard, the group had given up!

  We frequent Asstateague Island every summer, walk north towards O.C. and you'll see speedos , thongs, never seen nude, but I think the people doing that should be careful, it's not allowed but if you keep to yourself and watch for rangers you'll be alright, as far as thongs I think there frowned a pond also but just cover your ass if u see a ranger coming around. We wear thongs on A.I. and towards the end of the day we sans the clothes w/ no problem!

  I was there recently with a group of friends. We had all planned to go nude but then saw a huge sign indicating that it was illegal. We didn't want to keep walking up the beach so we just hung out in our swimwear. Had I seen others nude I wouldn't have taken it as a big deal but  none of us were looking forward to a ticket that day.
