Curt, or CowboyOct 2, 2010
I'm sorry mate you are wrong. Once you set up a site on the WWW it is not really "owned" by anyone. When you allow others to join or participate then you accept that they have freedom of speech and a say in the way things operate. That is the fact. Human nature means that people do not like to have someone dictate to them.
No sir !! The owner remains the owner, and supreme dictator. That the "public" is allowed to visit does not change that. While it *may* be a bad idea to excessively restrict the exchange of ideas ( as demonstrated by the failure of other sites, and many governments ) it remains the option of the owner. The owner does not by default relinquish any dictatorial authority, though he does take on the responsibility regardless. People may not like being dictated to, but they always have the option ( on a web site ) to leave. Poorly managed, the site may not be a success, but that does not change the fact that it *is* the owners option, rightly or wrongly.ReactReply - TH
ThomasOct 2, 2010Freedom of Speech is going off topic of this thread, but the site owner can set guidelines but the ones here are just to keep it friendly.
In reference to full nudity being allowed in pics but not on cams, it is allowed on cams also. You just have to have your face on cam and nothing sexual.

The confusion lies in what you just said, and some members wrongly think they can get away with any nude pose as long as their face is somewhere in the distance.
A crotch shot is one where the crotch is the primary focus of the cam. The person's face being closer to cam should not require a tape measure to check, it shoud be clearly a lot farther.ReactReply - CO
Curt, or CowboyOct 3, 2010
CURT44319 you are certainly able to express your own opinion. In the end I also do not fully agree with you. If you listen to what I am saying it really is about the site being a better place by everyone sharing in the decision making process. The most powerful people in the world are those that share the power and are inclusive in designing and implementing guidelines. Ultimately "owners" are only as successful as their team members. This site will only be as successful as its members. Sharing, understanding, respect and learing to accept each other as valued members of the team will make this a better community. Thank you all.
While the manner in which some seek to express themselves may be a bit acidic, it is hard to argue with the underlying premis. You and I do not disagree that it may be advisable to consider the input of others, we apparently do disagree that it's mandatory. We disagree that " The most powerful people in the world are those that share the power and are inclusive in designing and implementing guidelines." but we are in full agreement that "Ultimately "owners" are only as successful as their team members." On my sites, I AM the supreme dictator, if by no other virtue than the simple fact that it's a short walk to the power plug, and that I, with no consultation from anybody, can simply pull the plug, and the site(s) is/are gone ! That it may be ill advised is another matter entirely. The most successful companies, governments, web sites, anything really, are not democracies. They are ( as history repeatedly teaches ) benevolent dictatorships. Decades of experience teaches me ( and you will not change my mind ) that input from all relevant parties is of great value, and probably should be considered, but that ultimately the decisions, and the responsibility for those decisions, rests solely and entirely with the owner, and no one else. To bring this back on-topic, the owner of this site has realized that the chat room needed some degree of moderation. His decision was to put in place designated moderators. Obviously, that decision was made with months of input from the membership clamoring for moderation. The affects of moderator decisions are immediate, as designed. It may be a good idea for TT1 to review the actions of the designated moderators, and decide to keep, kick, or replace certain mods, but the decision to do so is his alone, not ours collectively, or individually. Perhaps an alternative would be a clarification of certain rules over which there seems to be some discrepancy. He will do so either by action, or inaction. Either way, that decision will be his and his alone, based on whatever input he decides to consider, rightly or wrongly. He DOES remain owner, and supreme dictator, regardless of opinion to the contrary, OR opinion in favor. That's just a simple fact. Additionally, it remains his, and his alone, *responsibility* to approve, disapprove, clarify, or review the actions and circumstances leading to such actions of the mods, members, and either support them, or take whatever other action he deems appropriate, including none, if he so desires. Meantime, ours is but to recognize and comply with the rules as they stand, or to advize TT1 through the established means, of a better idea. It WILL shake out, and the lines will become clear, regardless of anything we do, or don't do. It WILL be inferred from the shake out, the direction this site will take, and what it will be in the future.ReactReply - TH

Ihave seen that he does pay attetion to what the members here say. That is one of the things I like about being here. He has posted forum threads informing us of projected changes and has asked for our opinions. I see by your poste and from seeing you in chat that you have same values as a lot of us here. I came into chat as someone was giving Jen, the female half of Snugglebunny, problems and you were helping her in a non confrontational way. I haved been friends with both of them for over two years and they are great people. ThomasReactReply - MEMemberOct 3, 2010
While in the chat room over a couple of evenings (local time), there were a number of dicussions and remarks that were homophobic and intolerant of a non-christian religion. When I flagged this the mods, I felt I was brushed off.
This really bothers me. It is not a space that I feel comfortable in participating. I, quite frankly, have put up with enough discrimination and bigotry in my life, and don't have to pay to witness to more.
Mods - step up and warn/boot of those who persist in using homophobic and prejudicial terms, regardless of cultural context, to ensure a more safe and inclusive environment.ReactReply - TH
ThomasOct 4, 2010
I am glad you think of my issue as "pitiful." This is an international forum, not Australian. If it were Australian, maybe you should simply refund non-Aussies subscriptions. Apparently, discussions are in English and one one think there were a common platform for dialogue. It is apparent to me that you don't understand my concern. Language can be used for both inclusive and exclusive purposes. Simply putting down someone's concerns as "pitiful" is demeaning and demonstrates willful ignorance. As a gay, Muslim person of colour who strives hard to create an inclusive work place for my employees and contribute to my community to address issues of intolerance, I now realize that "within certain cultures" my concerns will always be entertained from me as a second class citizen. At least I know where the mods stand on perpetuating double standards and disrespect for cultural diversity. And from nudists, nonetheless.
This is indeed an international site. As such we should be understanding of all. English is the most common language but I have seen many languages in the chat room when some converse in their native tongue. I have learned a lot of the slang of other English speaking countries and have taught others some of our slang. I feel it is being small minded to be offended by something that is not meant to be offensive, is a slang word with a totally different meaning in that person's country.ReactReply - MEMemberOriginal PosterOct 4, 2010

To all our Aussie friends an FYI - if an American says they're pissed...it means we are angry NOT drunk! LMAO!!

JackNeilsonOct 4, 2010
This is an international forum
Bullerman, Slang and/or colloquialisms are common in most languages including English and due to the wide diaspora of English speakers varies very widely. You are Canadian as am I. You live in Alberta; I live in Ontario. Some differences in slang usage between us is probable. Newfoundlanders have a very rich usage of slang and colloquialisms, some of which you would not understand or would misinterpret yet we are all from the same country. Now consider the number of countries who speak English and the wide variance of slang which is inevitable. An American would say soda when referring to a soft drink whereas a Canadian would likely say pop, which has a very different meaning in American slang. I am reminded of an occasion when my British father in law saw a man putting a large roast on the BBQ and blurted out ... "Look at the size of that man's joint" or when he would say "I'll knock you up in the morning", both of which have very different meanings to a Canadian. Slang is an integral part of speech and can vary by country, province/state, demographics of age, employment, ethnic origin or other factors. You use the term "gay" which is understood widely as referring to "homosexual" but there are still places where the word is meant to denote only "happy" or "carefree". Even "person of colour" would not be understood in many places. I see no disrespect for cultural diversity in a person using what to them is a commonplace and everyday way to refer to a cigarette which is incidentally understood in many places besides Australia. If you had a problem with the term you could have simply asked for clarification which would probably have been politely given. In my opinion there was no intent to cause insult or offence to anyone.ReactReply - CO

Gerry-4Oct 4, 2010Reminds of French Canadian friend who went to England to work on his English. Later he found himself working at a U.S. school. He once caught some kids smoking on school grounds. He made them clean up the area saying, "I don't want to see any fags here!"
He had to explain his comment to the principal...
As for whateversexuality, I'll always remember this deleted scene from a less-than-high quality movie:
"Here's my editorial for tomorrow: If you sleep with someone, you sleep with everyone that person ever slept with. Does that make you gay? YES! Yes, it does!"ReactReply - TH

Instead of bickering about our differences on an international level, look at this as a wonderful opportunity to become more cultured in this 'global world'. Let's not start WWIII over words, embrace them, learn, understand. What - a - gift!

I am happy to have come back to be a part of TN again.
The moderators have once again made the chatroom a more enjoyable place to be! You guys are doing a spot on job so don't let any of those negative comments get you down!
=) Keep up the good work!

You hit the nail on the head cesssez, I might also add that now with the mods
covering the chat rooms that TT has no problem cruzing the forums and easily
handling picture control with time to spare. NO NEED FOR FORUM MODS, as we see
all is working well with TT at the helm, and seeing how well that it works DON'T
FIX IT. I even heard Brian say over at NCH he alone has no problem covering pic
posts on his site as well, no need for any outside help. Self policing by
members is doing best.ReactReply - CD
Cheri Donna DawsonOct 24, 2010I ventured into chat late yesterday afternoon/early evening (for me) and ended up PMing with an old friend and never really got the chance to just chat. LOL There was lots of interaction among those there, that's really great.
I think having Moderators have definitely helped.
