The Childrens

Television Workshop, the makers of Sesame Street, would run studies of how kids

would react to the "creatures" they would cook up for the show. The scariest

monster was a vampire. All the other monsters were easily seen to be a monster

a block or two away leaving time to take cover. A vampire could get right up

next to you before he opened his mouth and you saw his fangs.

The sexual predators are like the vampire. They can

paint a very attractive avatar and not reveal the monster they are until they

are right next to you.

The only problem with email addresses is how easy it is to get a new one. It would be great if there was a way to see how old and how frequest an email address is used.

With DHCP your IP address can be different every time you connect. On top of that, you may also have NAT (Network Address Translation) in the mix. You don't see your NAT, the people on the other side of your gateway or proxy will see it. In a small network your DHCP address may appear to be static. In some corporate networks you may have a static address.
