I was having a relaxing afternoon in the local woods. I thought I'd found an area that I'd not get disturbed, however this evening to my surprise a adult woman walking through with somebody else, which I didn't see so could have been her saying to her pet dog come on this way! I don't know, but she saw me before I saw her and she then said come on lets go back. It's clear to me that women still have a problem with nudism. That's probably spoiled my walkway adventures now! I did not approach her and I didn't want to frighten her but had she of talked to me I'd of explained there is no need to worry about me being naked, its natural and normal. One woman recently told me that once she got to know me and was comfortable around me she had no problem with me being naked. I just wish women would accept we are all human and want the freedom of expression and just get along with all concerned. What do other ladies think about this?

Why would anyone believe a naked stranger after unexpectedly encountering them in a forest? Wouldnt someone with evil intent also claim to be harmless? I think it is wise for a lone woman to avoid you under those circumstances.

Most people walking through the woods would be somewhat startled by seeing a nude man in the vicinity.
The immediate reaction would be that he's a pervert, an exhibitionist or is cruising for male on male sex.
Even though I'm a guy, I would likely think the same thing first off.
The reason being is that I walk a lot, and whenever I have encountered other guys lurking in bush or woods, they generally fall into one of the above categories.
Same at the nude beaches - the number of guys who are there because they are genuine nudists I can count on one hand, the rest are there for other reasons.
If your intention is to meet like-minded ladies, you are probably better off joining a nudist club.
At least then you will be among people who are there (mostly) for the right reasons and haven't started off on the wrong foot.
Hanging around naked in the woods could end up with a visit from the local police as well, so bare (pun intended) that in mind.

I got caught last night, I go for walks around my village at 01:00 to 03:00 in the early hours of the morning, I have done it loads of times, but last night I met a young guy around 20 -25 of age, I think he was drunk or on drugs, he shouted at me saying " your not allowed to do that" I just carried on walking, but I think he either took a photo or a video of me OK it will only be the rear view so not too worried and as it was dark it will be of poor quantity. I will lie low for a while as a just in case he called the police.

As is typical, ask a question in the ladies room for input from the gals and only male perspective is gotten. Too bad for us. Any women here?

The original poster is in the United Kingdom and I do not know the law there. Here in the US there are laws which are applied to public nudism, and the ramifications stemming from being arrested for this offense includes being put on the national registry of sexual offenders, something that can and will impact the 'offender' for life. This will mean you will be barred from most nudist resorts in America.

National park land is considered nude friendly in many of our federally-owned parks, though any of them can have specific laws in place due to past problems. The statute that covers these spaces reads something like, "Nudity is allowed as long as it does not include lewd or lascivious behavior." Be warned and be wary.

A side topic is all the naked driving discussed in True Nudists - as far as I can tell, that's the same as being nude in public and is illegal in America. If you are one of these people, walk around your car and be sure it is fully legal before leaving home, all lights in working order, etc. It would be smart to also keep those shorts around your ankles for quick retrieval, you bare drivers, and for the supposed women here who want to be topless on the highway, maybe a front-closure sports bra at the ready. Not every state trooper will be willing to give you a warning simply because they got a look at your boobies.

However, from what I have read, people have been charged with other offences indirectly related to nudity like causing an uproar, etc. Legality of nude driving in the US varies from state to state,

Reading through the thread I think I agree with post 3. Here in the UK it is legal to be naked anywhere public or otherwise. A while back I was stopped by the police who asked me if I was okay because I was naked, I said yes you don't have to be ill mentally or otherwise to be naked, you can be fit and well. I said we are all born naked and that is the natural design so should not be seen as a problem, and while I'm definitely not trying to tell you your job, it is not illegal to be naked anywhere in the UK. The police officer agreed with me and then said I could go on my way.

When I've been out with female friends and met up with other females they have all really said the same thing! Is he naked? Yes the other girls have said, and what happened then was the new girls on the scene just started talking to us like nothing was wrong and we all got along OK. I think the problem here is twofold... 1/ being not enough awareness of naturism and nudity being legal and normal, and 2/ most people still seem to think that the human body is indecent and must be covered over. This second point based on my research is because since 1942 in the UK people have been told their bodies are indecent by the police. British naturism back before the year 2003 here in the UK had meetings with Parlament to discuss these very issues. It was agreed then that anybody can be naked anywhere so long as sexual acts were not involved. This because law in 2003, however, some police officers still make their own rules up because of their personal feelings and view points.

On this occasion while I was walking through a public park dirt track walk way, the area was such that yes there was always the possibility that somebody would walk through, but at the time looking at the design of the park and area, everyone seemed to keep to the tarmac paths and green field areas where the play areas are located. I chose to use the other side of the park that was not well maintained as a good walk way area and that one woman chose to walk along that dirt track area. That area is not maintained for walking along and looking at the over hangs of trees etc, and the area, I chose to believe that most people if not everyone would not try to walk along that area being unmaintained, however, there is always one?

So what then is the solution to the problem? Do we have the right to our freedom of expression, or should I stay in my bedroom for another 18 years? Like has been said I could join a club but is that the answer?

Yes I agree, why would one want to be naked in the woods unless they're an exhibitionist, it's certainly not for sunbathing.

If you are comfortable nude and walking alone or with others who are agreeable, the freedom and comfort of being nude in nature is enough reason, without need of being seen.

That's very true and I didn't expect to be seen along the dirt track park through the trees, which is a walk way but not publically used a lot. It's not a well maintained walkway which is why I thought it would have been okay.
Yes I agree, why would one want to be naked in the woods unless they're an exhibitionist, it's certainly not for sunbathing.
There is something very connective between the world around us and the psyche from a walk in nature while in one's natural state. Exhibitionism speaks to a need to be seen by others when they don't necessarily expect to encounter a naked person, and for the exhibitor to derive a sexual reaction from the exposure. By being in the natural world, a nudist can receive many benefits that have not a thing to do with sex. A suntan is far from the only reason to be bare in the forest - vitamin D is absorbed without as much danger from the sun when it's being gotten through a forest canopy, just to name one benefit.

We take or Greyhounds for walks there in the nude because its the only place we can do that. We have many fair-skinned nudists as well as melanoma survivors at Solair who want nothing to do with being out in the sun... should they stop being nudists?

In my area od the country there are not that many places to go like nude clubs or whatever one would call them, and another thing is that I've heard that singles are not allowed in these places anyway, which put me off even trying to get in. It does seem then that people have bad ideas about nature and nudism, so maybe the law should ban it worldwide so everyone must be clothed 24/7.

We used to visit a local club/resort out in our local desert. Recently, they went clothing optional and there are now more people wearing clothes than there are naked people. They've ruined that club/resort. We loved going there and doing some naked hiking on the multiple trails leading out into the state park from the resort. Looks like we'll have to save those naked hikes for Anza Borrego State Park and Death Valley Nat'l Park.
andy- is the resort you are talking about DSR in palm springs? if so, i had heard that they were "reversing direction" on this as opposed to the resort in FL which is going from CO to "nudity required" if it is DSR and that is the result, i suspect i won't be flying to palm springs anymore to go there. while my wife is not a nudist she did attend with me and was more comfortable at their "quiet pool" where she could cover up some, but i enjoyed the mostly nude atmosphere. it is a shame that is now lost.

It's still the same environment with a single bloke and single woman! Oh and there are no bushes, it is a public park walkway through trees, which is not very well maintained as a walkway.

Just because you are a nudist does not mean that others want to, or have to, see you naked.
Sorry to have unset you so much, I can understand from your reply your feelings on the subject. I didn't go to a public section of the park with intent to be seen, I tried to stay away from areas where people go. To actually be seen in the area I was in was probably like trying to win the lottery thinking that anyone would have passed by the area of the park I was in. People who are nude don't normally ask other people to come round and see them, but if this occurs the reactions can vary depending upon the individual person in question at the time. Understanding seems to suggest that some people have a bad outlook on nudism and think its wrong. Given you say your a nudist your outlook and replies suggest otherwise. If I'd of been replying to something like this thread as a reader, I might of said something like... As a genuine nudist I'd stay away from parks etc as most people don't understand naturism and nudism, and given the way people have been treated with the law over many years, they have not been afforded the training nor experiences in life about what is actaully natural and normal anymore. If you are a genuine nudist then to me at least you have come across as very hostile with this subject.
No one ever told you that going naked in a public space is a definite no-no? You can be a nudist in your private environment, in nudist places, in your home, but not in public places. If there is a risk of being caught naked,
In your country that maybe correct, but in the UK public nudity is legal ANYWHERE. There is no such thing as a private environment in the UK. People have CCTV recording devices everywhere and even though we have so called human rights to respect so called privacy, the police here don't respect it anyway. In saying the above I do respect what you've shared on this thread and I can see that women would be offended based on what you've said, so I'll definitely keep well away from women from now on even though I've maintained that standard to date not really wanting to upset anyone anyway.

Well I can see that the discussion has rattled a few feathers, but really, how did anyone prove that the story told was even true!! Judge as you will, but this is a very good way of finding out how people think and their personalities on the subject. Stories need to be made up and come across at least to some degree convincing then we can see real personalities come to life. Thanks for the replies and true responces. Like somebody said on here a little while back, there are no genuine nudiests left now.
The real nudists are those who walk around naked among anyone? I believe that a true nudist is not an exhibitionist, a nudist or a naturist does not impose his own nudity on anyone. As the answers are not what you expected you now say that the story is not real, that it was some kind of sociological experiment. Pathetic!!!!
Imagine someone lying on a nudist website. As the answers are not what you expected you now say that the story is not real, that it was some kind of sociological experiment. Pathetic!!!!
None of which you imply above is correct though is it. I simply made a story up about walking naked through the woodland area of a country park that people don't use that much. I added that a woman walked through and saw me before I saw her and she said something like come on lets turn back, indicating she was with someone else, which I said I never saw anyone. For all you know I could have walked through the main street naked among everyone and then walked off through the woodland area on my way home! The whole point of writing this post and putting it into the ladies section was to see what views and or opinions came back, and I certainly hit your nerves with what I wrote, however, you did add to the mix just like others in this thread before you, implying I was some type of exhibitionist but nothing of that was implied by me or wrote about because that was not the intention of the post, which was simply to get womens views on nudism and naturism in the real world, just because its legal in the UK and I thought well lets try some feedback and see what women think about the subject. I first tried this with driving naked (write up on here) NOT really driving naked, just wanted the feedback but no women replied, so my next step was this thread. Only you as a woman replied, if your a genuine woman. For a nudist yourself, you certainly came across hostile and in my opinion came across with all the wrong conversations about the subject. I'd of thought you might of asked my intentions there and got to know a bit about me before judgment, but no you delved right in like a bull in a china shop.

Never go nude if you are not sure the place is nudist friendly. Nudism is not allowed everywhere. Thats why you should pay attention where you go to practice nudism unless its on your own field.
