The couple I mentioned posted that their retirement plan was to keep just one large bin of clothing to share, plus one bin of shoes and outerwear for each of them and get rid of their dressers and closets! They were even contemplating a clothes burning party for items that were too worn to donate!

  We have just a handful of clothing items and footwear left that we wear only when necessary - for protection from the elements, protection from hazardous tasks & for societal requirements in public. We did have a clothes burning party when we both retired.

I got rid of about half of my clothing shortly after I retired. My wife appropriated most of the space.

Have you considered moving somewhere warmer so you will need clothing even less?   We own a ranch in the southwest US so the climate and privacy allows us to spend lots of quality time outdoors while nude.

He is planning to donate his better clothing and destroying the rest. He would then live completely clothing free for as long as possible then buying only the absolute minimum he must have as he needs it.

  I certainly have less clothing now since i retired, for starters got rid of all suits and dress shirts, also never wear any underwear, cleared out that draw years ago

I did have a blazer that I could wear with casual dress slacks when I needed to. When our son got married last year, my wife and sister convinced me that I should have a real suit for the wedding. Since it was a wool blend, I bought underwear to wear with it. What did you do with the space you had when you got rid of a lot of clothes? My wife appropriated most of mine.

Our grandson is here a lot in the summer which does limit my nude time. If your wardrobe is mostly empty why not get rid of it? Several men on this and other sites have mentioned doing so.

  Forgot to mention this before, but another male couple was designing a cabin in the woods for their retirement home.
  It had no closets or space for dressers in the sleeping area. They intended to keep all of the clothes they would need in 2 or 3 storage bins. They were also planning a clothing burning party for sometime between their retirement and moving dates.

Did you also have a bureau or chest of drawers before you retired? If so, did you keep it or get rid of it?
