I always shave my pubic hair. But with shaving, it grows back every couple of days. So I don't get that smooth look for very long. I want to try waxing but am just so scared of the pain. Should I face my fears and just give it a try once?
Anyone here get waxing done down there and can comment?

BorisAug 7, 2020The Pain level all depends I have found on the length of your pubes when you go for a wax. The shorter the better, I have found out.

ElmerAug 7, 2020For a smooth feeling waxing is the best way to go. The major factor is the experience of the clinician doing the waxing and the type wax they use. The pain is really not that bad if done correctly. I like waxing because it lasts about six weeks. And if bare is what you prefer, the more often you wax the finer the regrow than is. However, make sure your partner is good with your decision. Some women love it and some think it is not manly. Most women appreciate the absence of hair if they enjoy giving oral.
Give it a try - if you dont like it, itll grow back in 5-6 weeks. But you will feel MUCH cleanerReactReply - RErenamed_usr_471265087Original PosterAug 10, 2020[quote]However, make sure your partner is good with your decision. Go for it, if it's what you want. Don't wait to get someone's permission. When you do meet someone they will have to take as they find. Besides, you may decide you don't like it and grown a full bush again by then.ReactReply - CH
ChrisAug 10, 2020I, too, have been thinking about this for some time. For those interested, some info. on the differences between sugaring vs. wax:

Then if you like it then you can stick with it and any new partner deals with it when they realise. They might well just accept as being part of you. Waiting until you have a partner and then discussing it would be harder. When do you have that discussion? First date, first time you are naked together, after 3 months, 6 months?ReactReply - RErenamed_usr_471265087Original PosterAug 13, 2020[quote]I, too, have been thinking about this for some time. Yeah, there's a place in my area that does Brazilian sugaring for men. I was thinking of giving it a try. But then again, I don't know what is harder... dealing with the pain of getting my pubic hair pulled out from its roots or waiting two weeks for the damn hair to grow long enough. If I let my pubes grow out for a week, that's already a lot for me and I need to shave ASAP. I don't know if I am able to tolerate growing a full bush for two weeks in order to get it waxed or sugared. And besides, I heard you still have to exfoliate daily to prevent ingrown hairs. So there's still work to do.ReactReply - RErenamed_usr_471265087Original PosterAug 18, 2020
I made an appointment to get my underarms sugared tonight. I'd rather my pubes be hairless moreso than my underarms, but the reason I'm doing my underarms is because it's inexpensive and such a small area. So it's good spot to try out and see if I like it and whether I can withstand the pain of sugaring. Something tells me that my pain tolerance should be ok and I'm just being overly paranoid. But we'll see. I shall find out tonight...

shaneone77Aug 19, 2020Yes it is! If you're worried pop 2 advil an hour before and it's not so bad at all.
Worried about the correct length, most places will trim you to the optimal length for the waxing.
It's been a while, but now I'm wondering if I should try to book.....ReactReply - SH

I just had it done and I was very very surprised how nearly painless it was. In fact, I think ripping a bandaid off is a lot worse. It's just a very very quick mild discomfort. Maybe underarms are the least painful part of the body to get waxed/sugared. If I ever try a Brazilian, maybe I might be surprised how significantly more painful it is. I am bit red under my arms right now, but it doesn't hurt or anything. Hopefully the redness goes away within the next day or two so I can start enjoying my smooth underarms.
All I have to say is that I can't believe how much I was stressing over this. If the results end up being long lasting as they say, I may decide to keep up with the underarm waxing. The joy of never having to accumulate sweat and never having body odor under my arms again will probably be two things that will make underarm waxing an addiction that I won't be able to give up...

TravellingbizguyAug 19, 2020I have gone for brozillian sugaring. I had pubic, shaft, balls, perineum, and hole done. Pubic hair was the worst part of the pain and it was relatively short.

Loved the feel of being completely smooth for 6 weeks but it is expensive and now with the covid... I have been using Nads for men at home. It's a cream and does almost as good of a job. tube cost around $7 and I got around 5 or so treatments and they last about 2 weeks or so. Much better than shaving and much less than waxing. Takes 10 minutes max and no pain.ReactReply - AN

I think I realized that waxing/sugaring isn't for me. Despite it being relatively painless for me, my underarms are still a bit red. It's getting better, but very slowly. It doesn't hurt or anything but it looks like it will be a few days of redness, which sucks. And besides, I can see some stubble in the area, so it's not as baby smooth as I thought it would be. So, I'm not sure if waxing is something I will pursue. It's too bad because like I said, it was near painless. I'm just not pleased with the results.

I think I may give a Brazilian wax a try. Is there high risk of infection? That part scares me more than the potential pain.
ReactReply - RIRicmanJan 14, 2021
I tried it once. Ingrown hairs were common. I shave, always in the direction of the hair growth, and never get ingrown hairs. I just shave every time I bathe to keep smooth.

KimJan 29, 2021I found that waxing was great as the smoothness did last for quite a while.
Main problem I have found is that most beauty salons don't offer male brazilians.
I had a go with laser, but too much grey hair so wasn't as effective as it could have been if this was available when I was much younger.
Just recently I found a Phillips Bodygroom 700 which seems to do almost as good a job as shaving, without the skin rash that sometimes happens.
I have been keeping my genitals hair free for about 40 years now and very rarely have any comments from partners or health professionals.ReactReply - MEMemberMar 16, 2021
Yes, get waxed. But, ask a lot of questions before choosing where. I've tried hard, soft and sugar ing. Soft wax is the best, and I'm (was) very hairy. I've found the older and more experienced do a better job. Duh. They also don't want you to help them in any way. They are quick, much less painful and make sure there are no stragglers left. They also can take a joke, they've heard it all.

I had a few ingrown hairs the first few times, but recently none. It's been 8 weeks and I have little growth. I have an appointment this afternoon and look forward to it. I'm hoping in a couple of years there will be no growth. I only wax my pubes. I'm too hairy to do whole body, I'd die of shock

ChrisJul 7, 2021Years ago, I did the creams and tried the sugaring myself. I ended up with laser hair removal.... Gotta say its awesome... Extremely smooth
