I was in a department store earlier today and I noticed a sign that said Mens Essentials on the wall over the area containing underwear and sleepwear.
I can't think of many things that I view as less essential than these.
Who would agree with me?

I very rarely wear socks, but I don't even own underwear or sleepwear. That would make socks more essential than underwear and sleepwear.

    So, yes, complete agreement.

It's certainlymoreessential than underwear and sleepwear.
deoderant comes to mind as an essential.
At least there's a reason for wearing it.

The absolute least essential item of clothing is the necktie.

Deo definitely but I do love to wear my fedora. I'm usually one of the only guys wearing a hat at nudist events but I love the icing on the cake so to speak. For me, that's essential!

Sleepwear from a store? Ive already got mine on, its called skin. Ive probably worn sleepwear (the kind from a store) only a handful of times in around 45 years. So absolutely nonessential.

Never wore pyjamas as an adult and no underwear since 1991.

A man, wearing nothing but a fedora would be nice to see.
Deo definitely but I do love to wear my fedora. I'm usually one of the only guys wearing a hat at nudist events but I love the icing on the cake so to speak. For me, that's essential!
Did you sleep in underwear or nude in between?

Completely agree. Started sleeping nude when I was 13 or 14 and have never worn pjs since; even when having to share a hotel room or with my roommate in college, no one ever had an issue with it. I rarely wear underwear either.

My parents never knew. Not that I hid it from them, but I was in my bedroom in bed under the covers. Not as if they came in and pulled the covers back to check to see what I was wearing.
Then you basically slept nude since you were 12 or so, How did your parents feel about that?
Agreed.
Real nudism is to be barefoot.
So many people wear shoes and nothing else. For me, shoes totally ruin the experience.

    mensasnem wrote:
Agreed. So many people wear shoes and nothing else. For me, shoes totally ruin the experience.
Well, I've got tender feet, so I do wear sandals or flip-flops. But I worked as a sailmaker for twenty years, and stocking feet, and no shoes, was the rule there, because we were often walking on the larger sails we were making, and also we didn't want dirt tracked into the loft, where the floor was the layout and working space. I can still operate a sewing machine more easily barefoot, or with socks, than with any kind of footwear.
The absolute least essential item of clothing is the necktie.
i would concur. I think we can blame the Croatians if I remember correctly from my visit to that otherwise charming country. ( with good nude beaches)

I too wear socks at times. Ive seen posts where people say they may put a shirt on if its getting to cold. For me, its my feet. If Im getting chilled and dont want to turn up the heat, putting socks on usually does the trick.

Sleepwear?...definitely non-essential! Underwear?....maybe for a doctor/physio's appointment if stripping from the waist down is absolutely necessary. I sleep in my skin and go commando when dressed if I can't be nude. '
