I got roasted by my last post about a real concern i have, so I just deleted it. Let me ask this instead.
As I have gotten older, and my body is not the same as it was 25 years ago, I have become much more self conscious and more reluctant to go to nudist events.
Have you gotten more or less comfortable with your body as it has aged?

I got over it and now at almost 70, I am far more confident and comfortable than ever. Not that I am in better shape, I am less concerned about how I look to others.ReactReply - MEMemberNov 22, 2022
frankly we don't give a dam what others think

gbrian56Nov 22, 2022I think I responded to your since deleted post indicating you shouldnt worry about things you can not change. I hope you took that in the spirit it was given.
With regard to body acceptance as we age, well, my advice remains the same. Time marches on for all of us and the sooner we realize it the better off well be both mentally and physically. Acceptance however doesnt mean throwing in the towel. Theres still a lot you can do to fight the effects of aging. Your profile indicates you like to stay active, thats your best defense. You also say you grew up in a religious home, that has the possibility of affecting the way we see ourself and our place in the world. A little self reflection here might help you understand if that upbringing is holding you back.
My experience both personally and with other nudists is that the older you get the less you care about what others think of you. Dont like my 60 yo body? Dont look. Lol
Its a very liberating feeling to get to this point in our life.ReactReply - SA
Stone AndyNov 22, 2022I am so sorry to hear you got roasted after taking the chance to be vulnerable on this site. There are a lot of serial trolls who do a lot to contribute to TN's decline.
Of course our bodies change and requires our attitudes to change in parallel. The part about serenity which was brought up includes both accepting things and doing what we can about them. It's a balancing act, and that makes for a process that's like an engine which keeps us moving forward.
Sometimes it's easy as men to focus on the penis which is on the outside and both noticeable and vulnerable. But the penis is the tip of the heart, and from the heart as well as from vulnerability grow courage for us to be men of wisdom and elders to give back. It's all a journey and it is good.ReactReply - EA
EarlDNov 22, 2022There are bunch of group for penis appreciation you may want to consider joining one to deal with your issue of growing versus showing. Real nudist/naturists not the online version arent preoccupied with your size flaccid or erect. They are more interested in your personality shared interests and such. I suggest you try posting about that if you are particularly interested in connecting with genuine nudists. I am around naturists of all ages body shapes and sizes. Naturists with severe body deformations are some of my fondest naturist friends. None of those physical characteristics influence our connection. We plays cards, do yoga, chat and all kinds of social things together. Genuine naturism is about respect for others and nature and ourselves in the context of social nudity.
Think about it this way. Would you introduce yourself to a clothed community of people with a conversation about penis size (unless you were in a group for that express purpose)?
You can embrace you and who you are now and will be age size etc not withstanding or you can follow the other perspectives you have received from this post from some whose only frame of reference in online nudity shares as opposed to real life nudist social interaction. It really its up to you.ReactReply - ST
StevieLornaNov 22, 2022Anyone who goes to nudist events knows that how someone looks is never an issue.
If you have issues with your body its best talking to a professional.

JOriginal PosterNov 22, 2022Youre absolutely right. I think my greater issue is not being comfortable with the current state of my body and aging.

JOriginal PosterNov 22, 2022Penis appreciation has nothing to do with either post. It was about myself feeling vulnerable and wondering if I was the only one. I was a nudist from my early 20s until mid 30s and havent done much nude since then. I am fully aware of how nudists are accepting of other peoples bodies, regardless of shape and size. Again It was not about being accepted, it was and is about how I feel.

EarlDNov 22, 2022The groups where people here discuss that kind of stuff are called small penis appreciation and large penis appreciation not my choice but thought that would help you search for them.
I am having a hard time understanding how with your experience in nudism you would lead with that question growing vs showing is used most often in a sexual context when dealing with erections or prelude to sex surely the experience you had in nudism would have suggested a different lead in or maybe I just dont know anything about genuine real life nudist context if so ignore.

StevieLornaNov 22, 2022
Youre absolutely right. I think my greater issue is not being comfortable with the current state of my body and aging.
Again, no advice you get here will help with that, go see a professional. Dont mention the penis thing.ReactReply - EA
EarlDNov 22, 2022
Paradoxically, the best way to get over it is to go out and do it. Being out at events is how you 1. Realize that others aren't judging you as much as you're judging yourself 2. Learn that the opinions of those few who would actually voice judgement don't actually matter.
That would be my advice as well but apparently he has been in nudist context before and that didnt work.ReactReply - ST
SteveNov 22, 2022By Hollersloud:
frankly we don't give a dam what others think
Indeed, it's a superpower, or at least a privilege. I know I could look better, but it's not the thing stopping me now. Love the level of acceptance that comes with nudism.ReactReply - ST
SteveNov 23, 2022If I want to be naked and along, that's fairly easy to do. When I'm among people, as I've gotten older, I spend much less time just sitting, lying, or walking around doing nothing in particular but sense myself being looked at. I'm much more interested in being engaged with the people around me. So I think that counts as being less self-conscious, but it takes more than internal work. It has taken a fundamental change in how I inhabit naked spaces. I consider that to be personal growth.

Have you gotten more or less comfortable with your body as it has aged?
Why would a good looking guy like you have become self conscious about his maturing body ? You are getting into the prime of your life, so what if you don't look like you did 25 years before, we all change as we get older, if you have developed what's called a dad bod, then wear it with pride, a little midriff expansion does not detract from you as a person or as someone who is attractive (note I am not using a sexual meaning to my words). I am saying this to you because of your pictures on your profile, you have no need to be worried about anything to do with your physique, nudity and naturism are not just for the young, it is for everyone, if you are on a beach naked, you are there to enjoy yourself and have a great day, not compare what used to be, never be reluctant to venture to any nudist events, you are letting your own thoughts get the better of you, there is nothing wrong with you in any way, shape or form. For my own defence, I just say, take me as and for what and who I am, I am not there for your benefit, just my own, enjoy your naked day and top up that tan. You are a beautiful human being and man as you are, just be yourself and enjoy.ReactReply - BR
Brett RapleyDec 29, 2022
Youre absolutely right. I think my greater issue is not being comfortable with the current state of my body and aging.
May I ask what your actual issue with your body and aging is ? May I also ask you what your previous posting on here was about, where you got roasted instead of being given some decent advice ! If you need to you can leave a more personal message via my profile, only if you wish to ! If you think I am being too nosey, then please say so. I am not looking to pry into your life, I would just like to give you advice if I can and help you get through your feelings. There are more than a few people on here who will rip you to shreds for asking the most basic of questions, mainly because they assume you are being sexual when that is not often the case. Some think they are the Law on this site when they are not. Just over opinionated prudes some of them lol.ReactReply - RO

JohnDec 29, 2022I can assure you that I felt the same about nudity when I was 30 as I do now when I'm 75. What's changed is that I'm more aware of the fact that I don't have as much life left to live, which makes it more important to live what I have left in the way I want to live.

StuDec 30, 2022Is there a specific part of your body that you don't feel comfortable about?
Inhibitions and hang-ups about nudity generally stem from a feeling that being naked is some kind of beauty contest where others are judging you and your body.
Real nudists don't judge, they don't even care what you look like.
It is not a contest to see who has the best body.
If you abstain from getting naked, you'll just be miserable and feel that you'll never measure up.
As others have commented, just go out and do it.
It matters not what you look like.ReactReply - ST

I can't help from not being nude as it would seem and can't wait until the wife gets hope from work so I can see her
nude. Sorry just the way I am. When it was -45 degree wind chill I didn't spare the fuel and it was 75 in the house.
Like Andy I have physical impairments from my career that now causes Luann to have to help me out of my chair at times or my sons to pluck me out of a car. Good gawd I will never understand how a woman like her who could have her pick loves me as she does.ReactReply - JI
JimDec 31, 2022I understand about the body getting older. But the minds of those people that are older then me are so much fun to learn about.
Oh the stories of their lives is so much fun to hear. I guess I have always liked being around the older people because of that.
Yes younger people are beautiful, but nothing to teach me or learn much from. Yes they have just experienced everything and its refreshing to hear it again. But ohh I love to hear and dream about what it would have been like to be them.
Even the womens groups talking about what it is like to be them. What their perspective is. I do prefer being with men. But I can even learn things from women.ReactReply - JO
JohnJan 2, 2023One of the great paradoxes of nudism/naturism is that the less we have on, the more concerned about what our bodies look like in public. I think that comes from living in a society where clothes are required, and where only ideally shaped bodies are considered good enough in the media to be seen as partially or completely nude.
And yet the more we actually participate in social nudism, the less concerned we become about what our bodies look like. True, we would like them to reflect our health in general. Some of us work out or have body surgery to improve their looks, and if it gives them a positive impression of themselves, it's their privilege. But most of us learn to accept ourselves as we are, and to accept others as they are. The only important thing is that we all are happy with what we are and who we are. I consider it another level of being honest.

EarlDJan 3, 2023While society in general creates all kinds of issues related to body image, shape and size and correlate them to aging - as a naturist I try to live by my maxim that inside every naked body is a human being. We have to live in our bodies but we are not our bodies. So physical and mental health are equally important as I continue to age. Something I have been doing from the day of my birth (even if society only pays attention at the beginning and the end)
I am more conscious than even the keeping perspective is important for both physical and mental health and well being regardless of shape, size and physical ability.
