Hello everyone,

I am starting this topic because of some of the things I read in the MEN'S ROOM forum. I realise that some won't agree with me on this topic, and I welcome constructive comments from all of you. As human beings, we are all different. But a few things that are the same for everyone is sex (the act or thinking about it), sexuality (the part that makes us who we are), whether that be straight, gay, bi, or anything in between. Some people on here see more than they need to when questions are asked.

When any nudist/naturist visits a nude beach/resort/spa/camp ground etc. We are all going to see other naked people that we will like the look of, we are naked after all ! Now that does not mean that you are going to walk about with an erection or swollen labia, erect nipples etc. Sex and sexuality are part and parcel of all of us, more so in a nude setting as you are seeing that person at their most vulnerable, but also their most beautiful. You can not tell me that as men or women that you will not find someone sexually attractive in that setting, even if you are in a relationship with someone and you are there together.

Those of us that are more mature are able to keep control of certain parts of our anatomy (men), but that does not stop any of us from thinking about someone sexually, even in the naturist setting. Naturism/nudity is not some form of shrine based activity that means sex get's left at the front gate when you walk into the place.

If you deny nudity as not being a part of being a sexual person, then you are lying to yourself and humanity as a whole. As I see it from my point of view, sex/nudity are both part of naturism as a whole unit. A persons sexuality defines who they are as an individual. You can't deny that sex is not a part of being a naked human being. If that was the case then we should be devoid of all emotions and feelings. It's about whether or not you act on those feelings or just accept that they are there and part of you, the person.

I know that there are certain people on here that will not agree with anything I have said above and they are welcome to have their say.

Well said indeed and beautifully put. None of us should deny that we have a sexual aspect to our lives. If we didn't the future wouldn't bode well for the future of the human race!
it is an interesting reflection on society when a naturist ethos is to convince textiles that we are not sexual in our intent of being naked. That is like a tiger trying to tell you it will not bite. There are times when normal and not polarised naturists will feel sexual around other naked people, that might be generated by the other people or it may just be a manifestation of something that was already there. Textiles do not believe this message and for good reason, they have no comprehension of it being possible. They live in a world dominated by image and clothing (sex), one of the main purposes of clothing is to conceal and therefore create the want to see or an illusion of what might be. So that when removed, even partially this creates sensuality. The whole concept of marketing, fashion and many other industries use this factor so to dispute it would be a polorised view and a futile attempt to redefine human nature. Why naturists feel the need to make statements on sex / nudity disassociation baffles me, i can think of no other lifestyle choice that seeks to deny human nature in establishing their own identity. (other than religion of course). Perhaps this is the reason the LGBT movement, ethic movements and many others now have a loud and well deserved voice where we naturists are still in the closet so to speak. We simply try so hard to denounce human nature that no one believes a word we say. As previously stated by others, on any beach there will be those who seek non permissive sexual interactions, this is regardless of clothing, it is a reflection of society and a matter of numbers. Even in a church there will by numerical calculation be sexual predators ( a very well proven fact). To state that those who embrace human nature and are still at a stage of health / age where these things are of value to them in a lifestyle choice are in the minority or indeed wrong is generalising. It assumes anti social intent on the part of every human who has ever had a sexual thought from a naked image, so most of us. Sex is a beautiful thing, bodies can be equally so. the combination is an evolutionary one and will not be changed by school boy statements of indignant morality clearly generated by either a constrictive religious belief or a lack of enjoyment of life. If naturists actually state -yep bodies are great and the right one at the right time can be a real turn on, then textile would say ok i can understand that. If we then say that being naked removes the lies about our bodies that clothing can create then they would reluctantly have to agree. If we finally say that sexual exploitation is driven by a world where the 'you cant see it' tease is driven into children and adults and body shame is endemic as there are no real comparisons then they might just start to think of what world they are supporting and marketing. Naturism will never be accepted by the majority until we admit to being human and stop preaching some better than you ethic that is blatantly not supported or justified as being the common opinion. Naturism is not a religion, it is a freedom of the mind not a restriction to comply and be a better person defined by someone else's values. I think some of the views on this site reflect the dominating influence of Christianity in American society, it would be nice to read posts that reflect human nature and a connection with life that actually shows the value of nudity not read even more constrictions and fake values. Want to know why young people are saying no to naturism - simply because you are preaching how they should act, this creates guilt and that is what they turned to naturism to remove. To read this rant and believe it is a plea for beach orgies is to miss the point, it is a statement of fact that we like sex, we like nudity and the 2 are interlinked, any study of responses to imagery will prove this. What we should be stating is that sexual interactions are beautiful and must be mutually consenting and be respective to the environment in which they are conducted to enable it to be guilt free. In other words we are saying exactly the same thing as the vast majority of nice humans in this planet. The only difference is we do not need clothes to trick into wanting it with someone who when naked wouldn't appeal.
Your words wipe the floor with some of the backward thinking comments on this discussion. Your an absolute star ! It never ceases to amaze me how certain people just can't see what the post was about, but always manage to put their small minded idea of what they think I was trying to say, when I started this discussion. How everything is a part of a whole, not separate as some people seem to try and state. There is no book of rules to naturism/nudity, no one person has the right to dictate what is right or wrong, if you have a blinkered outlook to anything, you will never see the bigger picture that is staring you in the face !

I agree totally. That is why I felt more comfortable at nudist beaches and resorts in Europe than I do in the US...For all of our "progressive and modern ways" in many things European thinking and attitudes are more accepting.

A modicum of self control is language from the 19th century, does it have a place here in an open healthy lifestyle site in 2017? Tedious attempts to do what exactly, to explore guilt and society controls. to free the minds of so many who feel repressed for simply being human? since when did an erection without any doubt only indicate sexual behaviour . what is becoming boring is the constant attempt to make naturism a thing of godly higher than thou expectation. I want a naturist world and that only comes with people being natural and not feeling guilt for being human. The transition into this world will cause a lot of erections and sexual arousal until people adjust., it is the way we are programmed to be. The mutual respect that this 'tolerance' will generate will shape behaviour in a way that living by a rule book can never do. our mantra should be simple- my nudity is not an invitation for sex, neither is it a restrictive power on your own thoughts, nudity is a pure and beautiful thing of self expression it does not need to be shamed on any level. If getting hard or wet is shame then we really are back in the 19th c of lunatic asylums for women who orgasm. And if you can't engage in healthy debate with your own thoughts rationalised, please do not block up the threads on here for those who wish to understand ourselves better. join in but try looking beyond your myoptic and out of date views. Isn't that what we ask of textiles?
Bloody well said !
We are all sexual beings, whether nudist or textile. The vital thing is knowing the difference between nudity and sex, or porn. Each has its place and, yes, they can overlap. But if we confuse the two we will lose the ability to persuade the public at large about non-sexual nudity.
I agree, Olly, but your words are falling on deaf ears with the perverted little rampant rabbits on here. We have some very immature and inconsiderate (so called nudists) on here, who are determined to ruin this site with their sick minds.

I find it a bit amusing to read about erections as signs of arousal which need to be controlled and have the potential to be some elephant in the room. I was at a male nude gathering of mostly men 50+ like myself and a young visitor popped a boner and was shamefully embarrassed. My attitude was more like How charming, an erection, I wish I could still do that with the frequency I used to! Yes, we are all sexual and arousal is part of it. But arousal is not only sexual, and erections speak just as much about our vascular health as anything else.

Men are visual beings by nature. That being said, I personally think there is beauty in every naked body, no matter, the sex, age, or size. That being said, there are some of those beautiful bodies that I enjoy seeing more than others, lol. So far, I have not had an issue with an erection in a nude setting. Not sure what that says about me, but I have definitely seen bodies that I would enjoy seeing more of and definitely enjoy seeing more than others.

Anyone who says that nudism has no sexuality in it I think is delusional. Saying that however, doesn't mean we have to act on those feelings. We can enjoy seeing someone without acting on it or reacting to it in any way. We can enjoy the sexuality wdith our partners in a private setting. Being nude is about freedom and equality. I have found that I am much more outgoing when I am nude than when I am clothed. I'm not sure what that says about me, but the equality of being without the outward trappings of clothing puts everyone on an equal footing.

I also find that people who are comfortable with their bodies are much more attractive than those that aren't. It doesn't matter how much weight you have or how you look as much as it is with how comfortable you are with WHO you are and HOW you look. I hope that makes sense.

Nudists are just like anyone else the only difference being we live life without clothes. Do I notice good looking people in public nudist settings? Sure. The same way I notice them in settings were everyone is clothed, and I don't get an erection in either situation because I'm not using my brain in a sexual manner. The brain is the largest sex organ, without it your penis can't do ANYTHING. That being said, I practice sexuality just as much as any other average guy. Since I'm always naked at home I also happen to always be naked when doing anything sexual. On an average day in no particular order I might wake up, exercise, swim, shower, write, watch TV, use the internet, do something sexual , play video games, use the internet, paint, read a book, watch TV, and go to bed all without wearing a single man-made thing. Being a nudist is a LIFESTYLE that encompasses every aspect of living. Just the same as many guys are clothed when doing sexual things at home I just happen to be naked because I'm always naked anyway. Being naked does not cause one to suddenly feel sexual or get an erection in mixed company with other nudists just because they're naked. It's using the brain (thinking) sexually that puts people in such a mood and it works regardless of whether you're clothed or not.

Who actually states that erections have to happen or be about sexual arousal, they don't ! Our own minds and how our own bodies perceive a given situation can cause and erection, but by what specific definition does or did that make this young mans embarrassing boner a sexual act ? I have to agree that erections are about vascular health as much as they are for any other reason.

We are always going to find some people more enjoyable to see than maybe others, but that is part of human nature. Because you have never had a problem with an erection in the nudist setting says nothing about you as a person or a sexual being, there is no set rule. I have to agree with you that some people are being delusional with regards to nudism/nudity having no sexuality in their eyes, as I have said, it is a part of every single person on the planet. And, agreed, we don't have to act upon those feelings thoughts or someone else being a beautiful sight to see naked. Freedom/equality are the whole point of being naked with each other, just being ourselves, more so if we are naked, because, as you state, we are all on an equal footing. Those of us that are fine with how we look naked are more genuine and attractive, we are all the same under the clothing that we wear, naked and free. Your words do make sense, it's all about how we read and interpret them that is the key. All we have to do is be ourselves when we are naked together, just us and our skin, nothing more.

You have hit the nail on the head with your words, the brain is the biggest sexual organ, it takes more than the penis to actually cause arousal in men. Any one of us could see/meet someone in a nudist setting and be stopped dead in our tracks, because that person in front of you, in your eyes, is beautiful, does that mean because that person is beautiful to you or myself that we get an instant erection, No it does not, as we at that moment in time are not thinking of the obvious, we are looking at a vision of beauty. I feel that some people on here, associate what I have just said in the above paragraph as having to mean I want to take this person to bed and boogie with them, when it means nothing of the sort. Arousal, even in the nudist setting is not about erections or even guys having them, it's comes from something that stimulates your mind, not your loins, when you see a stunning view from a mountain, do you as a male stand there erect because that sight is amazing ? No you don't. My actual point since starting this was simply about the fact that as either male or female, sex and sexuality are part of all of us, being naked alone or with others does not change that. The act of sex and sexual arousal are different in that your both aiming for a specific goal at the end of that encounter. As naked people we do not stop being sexual, our sexuality does not define our libido or the people that we are, they co-exist as part of a whole, not individual pieces, we are not jigsaw puzzles, we are whole and defined entities.

It's not like people are running around with raging boners at a singles bar or when they hit the club if they find someone attractive. Seeing someone naked can be exciting in a more cerebral way, but unless I was 15 again, I don't think I'd randomly get an erection. I mean, I've seen some amazingly attractive people, both clothed and naked, and it's more like appreciating art than purely sexual (although there is an aspect there).

I am going to read every single reply on every single page of this, the greatest thread I have stumbled upon here yet. Likely the most important one; it certainly could be argued.

Meantime, I will just say this: I keep hearing over and over and over and over about the tedious attempts to bring sexuality into the nudist world. From where I stand with my sometimes erect penis, it isn't hald as tedious as the endless badgering that people do to one another within this community. It's damn near a spiritual castration, and I'll have none of it, myself.

I understand the concept of inappropriate behavior, but I also refuse to be made into an emotional eunuch and pretend that I have no sexual drives at all. On the contrary, I'm going to celebrate my sexuality as the wonderful gift that it is - just like my body itself.

For the life of me, I don't understand how we can be so schizophrenic about the whole thing. We turn right around and do the same bullshit moralizing about sexuality that the world at large does about the nudity.

It's a bit like the gay folks who turn around and say that bisexuals aren't real, or that transgender people don't have the same right to dignity at as they do.

Your body is beautiful. Your sexuality is, too. Embrace them both in a responsible way, and let that be the guide for your children. Openness and honesty is the way. Suppression never works, at least not in any healthy way.
